Weather, gravity, and other variables

On the note of different weather patterns I'd hope that different temperatures come with this. The affect it could have on playing with people's heat (making it easier to dissapate in cold and making it harder in a windy, sandy desert) also just really excited me. I think it would be a HUGE helpful extra deterrent on making that one mech that you may be able to alpha strike someone with one setup. Because you may be able to easily shoot 4 large lasers with your heat setup on one map but take it to a desert and you won't have as much. So a one setup fits all won't work. It adds a lot of depth, especially when weather is unpredictable while you're setting up that mech.
I'm even hoping for maps that feature higher or lower gravity (or none at all perhaps) in hopes to spur some interesting play with projectiles, and more importantly, jump jets and speed. Mechs would be slower on higher gravity worlds. In lower gravity they might be faster but harder to control, and jump jets use would be more enhanced but harder to control.
I understand that this is PROBABLY something more of a desire than it is a necessity to have at launch, and I'm sure it will only get delayed as unimportant. But I can only hope hope hope that something to what I described above will be implemented. And I'm not talking about one map that always rains, I'm talking about random weather for every map that you won't know until you've dropped.
What's your opinion? Should we expect to see a high-tech wiper blade on our mech windshields???

I haven't seen anything about gravity either. I'd always that only planets roughly earth size would have been terraformed/populated. Is there any indication in the lore it would be other wise?
If we get storms, I think we should get a little cut scene of a some poor tech applying RainX to your windscreen lol.

<BigBadVlad> What sort of in-game weather and environment effects can we expect to see in the game and to what level of detail?
[PGI]Dennis As much as we possibly can...
[17:52] <[PGI]Dennis> believe me, I want everything, EVERYTHING!
[17:52] <[PGI]Dennis> the engineers might hate me, but I can take a punch
<[PGI]Dennis> fog, rain, snow, extreme environmental weather phenomena, you name, I will try and do it
<[PGI]Dennis> I believe it's a great way to make a well known map, a little more random and dynamic
Also, I would love to see it. Weather effects are often one of my favorite parts of a game, visually. And to have the rain actually patter on the 'Mech's armor, run down the windscreen, and steam/vaporize when the 'Mech heats up? Holy crap, I might mess my pants.

[GARTH] “Yes, there will be dynamic weather such as rain, fog, etc. Fog will obscure vision and make for much more ‘oh crap!’ matches, where you suddenly find yourself walking into the enemy. It makes things a lot more tactical, and slows matches down. Also Lights love it

It would be very, very cool if they would give us some way to start fires or deploy smoke etc to affect the battlefield and change things up.

Possibilities of electromagnetic storms which hinder radar and such would be interesting too.

And if PGI does the game with a 0G map, with the assumption that ballistics wont disappear magically after a certain distance that would give us a magical device called unlimited range AC/20 oh boy
Edit:
just assume that the maneuvering thrusters will just keep you grounded similar to that ice-ship mission in MW2: Mercs

Don't really see that as being particularly fun.

Also a great idea. And the lava flow forest fires and come to think of it smoke debris from fallen buildings could make great effects on both visual and gameplay. Though I KNOW i'd get on a team with some noob ***** that would much rather spend his time destroying buildings and messing around with forest fires than actually contributing to the game.

Yet another reason we need industrial mechs for gathering and such!

Didn't really consider recoil. But that could make it really interesting to have to compensate for it. Having too many weapons firing at once would wreak havoc on your own mech. No sounds except for the muffled noises of your own mech and radio chatter. Anyone remember that one level of halo 3 where you had to, after flying the fighter in space, had to battle on foot on top of that frigate or whatever. That was insanely cool. MY FAVORITE. That's what comes to mind.

The gravity seems much more interesting to me from a gameplay perspective though. Obviously 0g wouldn't work, unless it was in the inside of a giant metal sphere and mechs were magnetically stuck on the sphere. Aiming would be weird, and jump jets could be used to cut across the middle. I'd like to see a map take place on the outside of a large ship, in outerspace. Just would be a cool atmosphere to have. But for gameplay, missiles and ballistics could have more or less range (though perhaps missles would be automatically calculated and adjust for the gravity).
