The better you can see your surroundings, the more competitive you can be. Teams focused on winning would expect you to use 3pv to its full potential just like they'd prefer players who play with arm lock off and are packing coolant flush.

Some of us would rather do without certain features in MWO, but the fact they are in the game and provide an advantage forces all competitive players to use and master them. Once something is in the rule set, it is fair game to exploit it... Unless you're bound by some kinda gentleman's agreement, like not starting assault matches by caping all the time.

This.

You mean the Archer, Rifleman, Warhammer, Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, Crusader, Marauder, Stinger LAM, Wasp LAM and Phoenix Hawk LAM that we know will never happen.

All those mechs can be re-made to look different. Harmony Gold owns the rights to the graphic designs, not the names and loadouts.

So never say never!

Yep, I mean the Archer, Rifleman, Warhammer, Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, Crusader, Marauder, Stinger LAM, Wasp LAM and Phoenix Hawk LAM that we all hope will happen, but sadly won't happen I'm afraid.
Well, actually I don't mind the LAMs. Never liked then that much.

HG is very protective when it comes to this. They already issued cease and desist orders against PGI for the original trailer.
I doubt PGI will risk it. The best we can hope for is the IIC versions.

Though I would love to see what PGI's versions of the Wasp, the Warhammer and the Archer would look like.

I was unable to find any information on this... Is there a youtube video I should be looking for?

Its not a video, its a pic. If its not there you can find at Russ "Apology" thread or 3PV Feeddback threads. Anyways its really easy to reproduce this.

Original MACROSS designs were good. One can only wonder what kind of awesome can Alex do with them.

are you some how saying that you shoot enemies in 3rd person view that you would not normally be able to shoot in first person view?

this is complete and utter nonsense.

I'm saying I can put my Centurion into cover with the right arm exposed, and then use the 3PV to see when the bad guys pop up so I can shoot them from a position behind cover.

You guys can dream, but that's all they'll ever be unless one of you goes and burns down Harmony Gold.

I like all of those mechs EXCEPT the Marauder. It doesn't look bulky or blocky enough to be Marauder IMHO. Too much rounded surface on the carapace. I do like FD's black/white drawing as a starting place as to me that looks much more "bad arse".

Since Alex has done a phenomenal job on the designs so far; the Macross stuff would be in very good hands. :P

Can I have a Crusader, a Longbow, an Archer and ... a Valkyrie, please?
But not in MWO - in some other, better Mechwarrior game.

1) A court case already ruled that HG doesn't have those rights.

2) PGI already stated absolutely nothing came from the CD

3) HG cannot touch, in any way, a redesign. How do you think the Phoenix Project came about in the first place?

...at that time I didn't realize you could contact support, then receive a refund and purchase a different founder pack, albeit none of that matters now (btw, my friend just informed me these were the actions you had to take, because there was no "button" to simply up your package to the next level).

I didn't contact support to upgrade my Founder's package, I just clicked the next tier up and paid the difference.

1) Didn't know about that. Thanks for the info.

2) :P

3) The Project Phoenix Mech Designs actually are all from Dougram Mecha. I don't think HG have any rights on those, I could be wrong though.

LOL, I sympathize, However someone needs to do something nasty to the guy who put the post about the Wolverine having "Beakers Head". Because now the Griffin is looking like Dr. Honeydew, with the big melon head.

You can't unsee Beaker, it is there forever, Or till the ingame model appears.

You're not wrong. The current Project Phoenix lineup (including the extra mediums) form every single (non-quad) Unseen that Harmony Gold has never had rights to.

The conspicuous absence of the Macross mechs, and Russ' commentary in a stream after the initial PP announcement musing on how HG was still "active" compared to the other groups would seem to put the lie to the idea that HG is no threat whatsoever to remaking those mechs (at least from PGI's point of view).

I have faith that Russ and Bryan will try and deliver this. They are sitting in a bunker somewhere right now, a tropical bunker, with drinks that have umbrellas and stuff, plotting ways to make this happen. You want to know why? It isn't because they are fans, although that is a contributing factor, it isn't because they need more mechs, we don't really, it is because that one single pack would make them so much bank it would be silly stupid not to.

Saber Pack II - Crusader, Archer, Marauder, Warhammer, Rifleman (we already gots it; Firebrand whaaaaaat?)

Whats that? I couldn't read your reply from the sound of cash registers trembling in fear.

Folks got to understand the legal issues that come with intellectual properties and copyright/trademark holders... it's not enought to just change something a little bit... legally, you'd have to change the "new" version of the IP by about 70% from the original... that being anything from visual design to internal mechanics...

We got the Phoenix Project 'Mechs, that says a lot to what the Devs are capable of doing, and willing to do for the community as a whole because who doesn't want a Locust or Griffin, etc... I know, we all want the iconic 'Mechs we played on TT or early BT games on console or pc... but really... what's wrong with the redesigned models they released years back that eventually made their way into BT and Dark Age/Age of Warfare?

That's like complaining the new Dodge Dart doesn't look anything like the old classic Dart... so you don't buy it based on that decision without giving it a snowball's chance in hell. I love old classic designs, don't get me wrong I get attached to them as much as the next person, but would you rather storm around in an old M60 Patton tank... or an M1A1 Abrams MBT?
