The only people who will win if they do that is the lawyers. And frankly, I'd rather see a lot more productive things done with the money people are spending on the game.

It would be much cheaper to just license the damn mechs.

Going to have to disagree with you. The better, and the more correct thing to do is to make their own art for the things they are supposed to represent instead of using something someone else made to initially represent something entirely different. Even if they were to license previous art, they would still be more restricted with what they can do with that art than if they just make their own stuff like they are a;ready doing with everything else in this game.

HG, has in the past shown an extreme litigiousness. There is no reason to expect them to be any different at this point. It doesn't matter how much the art is changed if a lawsuit is brought for regardless. Even if PGI wins it would cost them money, perhaps too much money.

No, I will not get the Saber Rattling package because I have not gotten the Poonick's

Why? simple, I will not pay into a game that it's developers

1. Can't get it's financial Records Straight
2. Blatantly ignore's the community
3. Overly Complicates their own Solutions to the problems they cause
4. charge us an Arm and a Leg for Digital Loot

no, I will not buy, even if they mark us off.

I have actually Pumped more money into TeamFortress 2 amd Warthunder in terms of Cosmetic Items and keys, and premium currency (respectively) because They are actual games.

not a stripped down version of DOTA.

Why you shouldn't buy:
  • Blatant cash grab(s)
  • Ghost Heat is still a solution looking for a problem
  • Zero work on pilot skills since open beta
  • No Phoenix Hawk/Wasp/Stinger/Crusader

Why you should buy:

1. You have money

2. You like ghost heat

3. Pilot skills don't make the game

4. Now you are just being cheap holding out for other mechs :P

I find it amazing ppl that will not play again or will not spend other dime are still spending there time to make posts about it.
If you hate the game that much why are you here?
They are not going to make changes base on your QQ about everything.
This after all this is a business and businesses need to make money.
You may not want the saber package but why is it nessary for you to try and discourage others?

This is just part of the business one person complains the other side blast back with positive information. That leaves the new person reading to decide, and after reading what is entailed with package. I am sure you have a lot more people buying than not. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the nay sayers also may have bought the project phoenix package, and now can not afford the saber reinforcement so now they think they have been ripped off.

Mostly because we care about the IP and want it to succeed.

Lots of us here care about BATTLETECH and could give a flying rats *** about PGI. This game is as successful as it is DESPITE PGI and their apparently purposeful strategy to kill it dead, starting with the community first.

I want this TITLE to succeed, which is why we beat our heads against PGI's proverbial brick wall and try to get some bits of sense through to folks who do not seem to care one bit. I want MWO to succeed, because I love Battletech. That is why we are here trying to get them to listen.

Failing....lolz. this is PGI's ""re-iteration"" on the IP. I mean come on bro, do you want to see them make it into a call of duty were every new one they make is just a carbon copy of those before it ? i'd hope not, cuz that would be even more of a fail. PGI may not be doing what you think they should with the IP but that ok, don't like wait and check back later.....still don't like it, bye. Is PGI stumbling a lil bit sure. is there progress on better game play getting better, slowly but yes it is. PGI is doing fine, lets see you make a video game.

I bought both Legendary Founders and the Phoenix Overlord Package with the Saber Reinforcements add-on $110. Why $120 for Battletech childhood which for me was just MechAssault and MechAssault 2 (Say what you want best group of people I met many fond memories). Why $110 18 mechs with all the skins. cockpit items, and boosts plus added support to a game I want to succeed. I also I bought $30 in MC so right now I have spent $250.

I know PGI is slow to balance and goes back on some things they didn't want to or said they wouldn't but people need to realize that this game need to appease the masses not just the Old School or Arcade people like I was. Honestly I would like unlimited ammo, but hey I can work with 80 rounds of gauss on my K2 :). At the same time I'm not going to make 80 page long threads about why I think it should be here like the Old School did with the 3rd Person View. I mean really it's a drone you can see over the hill. It's not OP and you can use it too. It did not kill the game and the one thing I never really liked about MechAssault was it wasn't 1st person, which as they said is their CORE focus. It wont go away due to a part of their money grab is the cockpit swag.

So if you want a mech game and you want to keep Battletech alive this is your last chance. As it had been said before. If this fails you will most likely never see a developer pick this up due to the burden and the nasty community it has. For god sake I saw death threats and the wishing of death on the Developers families. What is even scarier is the fact I think these people were 36+. I'm only 26 I know kids can get a mouth and carried away (I hope they were kids but I have a gut feeling they weren't) Just over added 3rd person view.

Then suggestions get made to add more content to the game and ideas and the same Old School's come out swinging OH THATS NOT CANNON or THAT'S THE WORST IDEA YET.

This is a reinterpretation of the game! It is not the TT, MW 1-4, or the MA 1-2 (I came from). People need to work together and allow some changes to the Old.

The biggest issue I have is this 1:1 timeline. I wont see 50% of the mechs I liked on Sarna for 30-40 years at that rate. This game will last 5 maybe 10 if they get it right. The timeline should be made to last a 5 year span. If the game is successful after that 5 year span PGI should start making their own Battletech lore and expand the universe that we all love.

Correct, they need to make profit.
And profit is done if you respect your customers wishes and treat customers as - well - customers. You know, guys who give PGI money...

I spent a lot of money in the months from January to July, approximately 35$ per month. Plus the Overlord package.
See, I don't give a damn about 3PV, but the handling of this issue was not optimal. Heck, it was terrible ("Lies").
I bought Overlord also because of premium time. Now, with the CBill-nerf, this premium time was impaired even before delivery.
Than the 'Launch'. I knew that we shouldn't receive UI2.0 or CW, but for *insert deity here* sake, the whole launch was sooo lame.
- Russ could have make a short announcement, say a few kind words,
- All participants of CB and OB could have recived a hanging item with the greek letter 'B' for the beta phase,
- PGI could have made or at least anounced a big 'Launch Sale' for the weekend like MC and/or ALL Hero Mechs 30% off and/or ALL colours 50% off.
Something with a bit more fanfare.

Long story short: I lost my confidence in this company. I'll wait until the Launch Event and then decide to cancel the Overlord - or not.
But I will not sink more money in a game which is made by such a company.

If they show some progress regarding features (UI2.0, CW) as well as a sustainable company behaviour, I will buy (maybe) the next package, but until then I will definitely not buy Saber and maybe will return the Overlord package.
Mind you, I'll play, but effectively - at the current state of the company - PGI lost a customer. You know, one of the paying guys.

TL'DR: PGI received enough support from me and they disappointed me. So it is my right to cut all further spending.

Reread what you quoted. He said he wants A Mechwarrior game that will succeed. He never said anything about wanting this one to succeed. He has given up hope that this one will succeed due to the poor handling of the game and the community, but he still has hope for the IP. His being negative can be positive for the game if certain people are not so caught up in their pride to admit when they made a mistake.

Yeah they could have fooled me! I make balance posts mainly. I don't cry about added features like 3rd person view. Added features are always good.

If added features are always good how do you explain disasters in games like the new combat system in Galaxies(destroyed the game), or the auction house in Diablo3(caused a lot of problems and is now being removed due to negative feedback from the community)? "Always good" are some strong words much like "never have to play with or against people in 3rd person" are strong words.

Sorry that I think that at the core, this is one of the best Mechwarrior game to date. Sure there are problems that need to be fixed but that can be done over time, like CW and UI2.0. People forget about the plagues that MW4, 3, and LL had. MW4 had the PPC, LL alpha jumptards and the magic lag shield that sometimes made shots not even register. LL had aerotech and elementals that never registered hits when you shot at them and constantly had one team pugstomps. 3 had insta death legging and horrible lag that you had to lead the enemy drastically. But some how this game is HORRIBLE BEYOND COMPARE, give me a break.

If you try to please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no one.

The proper course of action for PGI is to do whatever it takes to make themselves as rich as possible. And if at the end of next year Russ and Bryan are driving around in gold plated Teslas, then that means they made decisions that made this game wildly successful and the battletech name will be synonymous with commercial success. Queue the movie rights!

And of course, if in the process of doing that they implement gameplay features that I personally would hate (such as gold ammo or power-ups in the map), I'll just take my money and go on to the next game that meets my needs. What you won't see from me is 500 angst-filled posts about how PGI is screwing up everything. I'll just quietly and happily go my way, having got exactly what I paid for.

Who is going to pick up an IP that fails? Do you think someone is going to make a new Duke Nukem game now? If this fails Mechwarrior is dead, so you are damn right if you think I support PGI. They might not be doing stuff I personally agree 100% with, but here's something else, the only 2 IPs I've seen come back from the 10 year long grave of no commercial production at all are this and very recently Homeworld. If either one fails, that is probably the final nail in the coffin.

A businessman?

Is this some sort of trick question? There are many examples of IP that has festered for years before someone went and tried to do something new with it.

Battletech, for example. :)
