The proper course of action for PGI is to do whatever it takes to make themselves as rich as possible. And if at the end of next year Russ and Bryan are driving around in gold plated Teslas, then that means they made decisions that made this game wildly successful and the battletech name will be synonymous with commercial success. Queue the movie rights!

Yes, and my opinion is that they are on the wrong way. Because the company could make more money, and - also important - as well as more money in the subsequent years, if they don't screw a part of the community. You may have another opinion.
Neither you or I know whats the most profitable approach for PGI, but I belive PGI don't know either...

You're talking about a business that has been around for over 10 years. One that was good enough that someone trusted them with the Battletech IP. It's not like they are a bunch of college dropouts programming out of their mom's basement.

Sorry that I think that at the core, this is one of the best Mechwarrior game to date. Sure there are problems that need to be fixed but that can be done over time, like CW and UI2.0. People forget about the plagues that MW4, 3, and LL had. MW4 had the PPC, LL alpha jumptards and the magic lag shield that sometimes made shots not even register. LL had aerotech and elementals that never registered hits when you shot at them and constantly had one team pugstomps. 3 had insta death legging and horrible lag that you had to lead the enemy drastically. But some how this game is HORRIBLE BEYOND COMPARE, give me a break.

Horrible beyond compare was never mentioned in regards to this game. It has potential; however the devs do not unless they can get past their pride. As for CW and UI2.0 fixing it I will believe it when I see it, but they were supposed to be out earlier this year and exactly how long should one wait for them to deliver on anything they have said they would? The devs don't communicate, and they don't seem to be making progress. As it stands now this is a shell of a game; it is barely more than a demo, and people have a right to voice their concerns and frustrations with devs who continue to hold their hand out while spewing as of now empty words.

A businessman?

Is this some sort of trick question? There are many examples of IP that has festered for years before someone went and tried to do something new with it.

Battletech, for example. :P

My point was that picking up an IP just after it fails is stupid practice. The only reason Mechwarrior came back was because PGI got a good deal on the IP. A developer can be a fan all they want, but they have to think with their wallet.

Just leave then if you're not happy with the game, but leave and keep your mouths shut about it. I'm patiently waiting and every few months the game gets better. They stopped talking to us because we all seem to think we are devs. It's easy to criticize them and complain and moan about broken features. How easy is it to fix? Do you know? Cause I know I don't! I've seen some promising things and I bet January 1, 2014 is the start and the year that MWO shines and shuts us up. Once UI 2.0, DX11 and CW drop it's tweaks, content, and steady game improvements from there on out. I bet the final puzzle pieces are being put into play.

I took Sept 26th off of work to watch the streams and see what they say about CW. I have a feeling you guys will be put in your place.

Telling people to leave is dishonest at best, and ignorant at its worst. People have a right to vent their anger when a company they are doing business with does things they do not like. People do not need to be an expert to give their opinion, but the devs do need to learn to communicate what they are doing and why if they want to avoid much of the anger that occurs here.

You can bet all you want, but with their track record that is a bad bet. We have been told that UI2.0, CW, DX11, and Clans were coming in a couple months for a year now. They have not met a target goal for release of any major content, let alone any real info on it, and you think somehow the 26th is going to change that? Even by some chance they give us good info for a change do you really think most if any of it is coming soon? The ask the devs just let us know that clans will be out maybe in the next 4-9 months, and that is assuming they don't move the goal post for 18th time.

Like Aztec above me said I hope you are right, but the 26th is going to need some major wows for me to remain only skeptical.

Buying the Saber Reinforcement package makes the negative nancies cranky.

Get the Saber Reinforcement package.

I'm one of what you'd consider a negative nancy, yet I have both packages.

Encouraging people to part with money to spite others isn't really that intelligent, and neither is it a valid reason, despite all the pro and neg coments, hopefully people have enough common sense to deside if they want it, and if they can afford it, and reguardless of which side of the fence people sit on, sound be the only consideation to buying them

Dude. I'm not gonna argue with you over whether or not PGI/MWO is bad or whatever, but the BT IP is ridiculously cheap, Microsoft/Topps will ***** that thing out to anyone who pays, there's 0 interest in it from investors, which is why we have MWO in the first place; no one wanted to fund a single player Mechwarrior Game, making this game F2P was the only way it was going to get made. It's also how MW:LL managed to get so far without getting a C&D.

Personally I am waiting to see how the first 4 mechs pay off next month before I buy two more. If they make it a better experience then I am all for 2 more brawlers. Me personally I would love to see 2c versions of clan mechs be released along as a package with the introduction of the clans. I know you purists will say they are garrison or second line Mechs but damn they were cool in mw2 and gbl in the early nineties. If anyone else feels the same speak your mind. Marauder 2c was bad ***

I WANT a good game, WE ALL WANT A GOOD GAME, but in a FREE 2 PLAY system the Developer has to Foot his end first before profit.

alright, I'll make a wager, If MWO drops with:

Community and faction warfare
Team DeathMatch,
Balanced mechanics,
introduction of smart battle mechanics
dynamic maps
and other tidbits that guy on NGNG kept yammering about along with
Community created content
and reasonable content prices

I will personally drop SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS USD to PGI as part as a donation package for their hard work and perseverance. $6,000 of my hard earned cash into PGI's dirty laps as a sign that they have done a good job.

HELL, I'll even record me doing it and post it up on the Forums

but until they do, they won't.

why? because that's how business works.

If you try to please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no one.

And of course, if in the process of doing that they implement gameplay features that I personally would hate (such as gold ammo or power-ups in the map), I'll just take my money and go on to the next game that meets my needs. What you won't see from me is 500 angst-filled posts about how PGI is screwing up everything. I'll just quietly and happily go my way, having got exactly what I paid for.

Then please kindly take your own advice.

If you don' t like the opinions expressed my members on the forums that are critical of the game, the developers, or any other aspect of the current state of affairs, please quietly take your own opinions and walk away, happily certain that everyone who disagrees with your view point is wrong, and that you currently have exactly the game that YOU want.

Allow the rest of us the courtesy to disagree with what we feel are glaring problems, and if you don' t like to see 500 angry posts on the forums, then simply follow your advice and don' t read them. Walk away and turn your self righteous condemnation towards other avenues.

If the discord on the forums upsets you so much that you must make " angst-filled" posts about other "angst-filled" posts...Well, who is the pot and who is the kettle?

I might but I doubt it. Thursdays are my Fridays so it just starts my weekend off early, if they don't release a bunch of good info in the stream on launch day. Then it's still a weekend full of MWO and noob stomping.

And BTW, your quote is a Phoenix Hawk, which will I`d guess 99% never be in the game due to Harmony Gold owning the rights... then again, we sais teh Reseens would never come, either, so that`s the 1% :P

That's because the people above me were talking about a phoenix hawk, and I was replying to that. I accidentally listed shadow hawk. Oh well. too many damn hawks.

Also, HG sued over the artwork. What happens when the artwork is different? Think hard on that, because this has been discussed again, and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again (that's how annoying it is to us when we hear "PGI can't use x because HG will sue them").

I actually sent a PM to Garth asking this question, and he said that the date has yet to be determined, but seemed to think we'd be able to buy the Saber Package for a short while after the Phoenix Package preorders have ended. As there is yet no date for the end of the Phoenix Package, it should still be for a while yet.

This can't be right. Otherwise, the people who ordered Phoenix just to get Saber should cancel their order and wait for Phoenix to end. That way they don't have to pay the extra money. It seems very unfair to trick people into paying the extra money, just to pull a fast one and continue the sale without the extra buy-in requirement.

Also, the Phoenix sale better end soon. Why did I just spend $80 to get all the mechs at once on October 15th if someone else can get them all at once in the same package at a later date? That's is the anti-thesis of exclusive and a huge turnoff for purchasing future "limited time" packages.

Honestly, I'm getting very nervous at the reluctance to place an end date on the sale. I get that PGI is trying to give people time to order (and make extra cash) but it will ultimately hurt the future package deals if they don't make this an actual limited time offer.
