The point I was trying to make was go back to a stock weapons loadout and try until you find something that works. Gojng back to single hs would be beyond stupid. The point was is that some of the stock loadouts with a bit of tweaking arent that bad
Example. Hbk-4sp. Just put in dhs, endo and a bigger std engine. Common yet effective in good hands
Cn9al, add endo dhs and bap, with a bigger engine and its a decent skirmisher dith. The lrms for srms and stick with a bigger std engine and it zombies nicely.
I am betting a K2 with dhs would still be feasible. But you'll want those medium lasers and machine guns now cor close defense. But it would definitely be fire support.
The point is get over the erppc/gauss meta and rework your chassis from scratch and use the "stock" loadout as a starting place. (Some of them really arent horrible once you get dhs. Notice I said SOME)
Your excerpt left out where i said keep your dhs and endo and the said stock loadouts cannot work.
I applaud you for not qqing about the loss of your favorite build (like many others) but I feel like you are basically corrupting the point I was trying to make. In any event if I reacted badly i apologize I am just utterly disgusted with the criers in the forums in particular those that have the nerve to say that heavy mechs/pilots are somehow getting screwed. As a medium pilot I have a rather strong opinion on that point.

No problem
And now that i think about it i should have quoted more of what you were saying (or just not quoted anything ) but the stock mechs in MWO being useless (without a lot of tweaking imo) annoys me. It really gets under my skin that a game based on the BT universe has no place for standard BT mechs.
I agree that some mechs are better used for their original purpose, like the K2 should stay at a distance from the enemy, mostly due to the huge cockpit.
I don't know much about mediums tbh (I prefer heavies...and assaults, but i generally think they suck), but i would like to see more of them in matches. They are after all the "workhorse" of the mech family. Imo if lights weren't so great at brawling more people who like some speed would play mediums. Yeah, i hate lights lol.
Anyway, sorry about that. I'll try to be more careful in the future...I blame old age

Haha. Fair enough. You seem like a decent dude for a filfthy clanner. Sorry i will have to destroy your mech.

in here I can't believe it.
Maybe those of you should really look for another good game and leave the forums.
Weapons became more role specific and established alpha builds now just need more skill. Saw a HM today, using 2 PPC + 1 Gauss very well. Nothing is broken in this game and it becomes more and more balanced. No sniping or brawling only.
Keep saying, PGI did so much wrong is just whiney
To those founders who also came with a lot of crticism and now maybe pissed off a bit: Don't try to impress me with your shiney little badge.

But I think I am getting old, the game is getting too complex to me.
The Gauss now is hard to use, no way to manage it along with any other ballistic anymore.
The heat penalty also force you to split more groups, more keys or buttons than I want to manage without think I am playing World of Warcraft or something like this.
I don't know where it is going, but honestly it seems to be a little far from me.

If you are truly elite then you will - LEARN. ADAPT. OVERCOME.
It just appears that many noobs got stripped off their favorite toy and is throwing a girlie hissy fit..

That is the point of the Gauss change. The problem is that apparently PGI considers lightning guns to be ballistic weapons too.

Ignore it and just go and out and
I just don't get thrown out of whack with each update (Maybe the one that made going up steep inclines much harder, but I just changed how I play). The Orion seems very popular, but I'll only play it once the Trial version comes out (Is working on Master skills for Cataphract).
I don't do all that well in MWO at all (KD Ratio of 0.20) but I don't complain, because I just play... I just want my Timber Wolf... I hope Alex gets over his fear of rebooting... and I hope he doesn't screw up.
Either way, when in doubt... Medium Lasers.

and FOR any of you ***** that want to say too bad this nerfed your 2xPPC/Gauss build.
I DO NOT RUN PPCs on any of my mechs, I do run Gauss on 5 of my mechs, usually paired with lasers
Now I am changing my Gauss's to AC20s

In a match on Frozen City (night) there was a big brawl going on around the crash site. I looked over the ridge and saw an enemy mech. I immediately zoomed in, pressed the mouse button, aimed, and released...
The charge up time was just long enough for a friendly Cicada to come out of nowhere right in front of me.
Charge up-1 Cicada-0
Also, so far the new mechanic just seems to make it less useful as a "sniper weapon". It's harder to fire accurately at long range (1500m+), yet nearly as easy at short range as it was before the patch.

Um...it sounds like you were trying to take an opportunity shot, and that's not what a 'sniper weapon' does. With a Sniper weapon, you have to track the target for a bit and calculate the time between shot and hit. Firing into melee with one is probably the worst thing you can do.
Regardless, every change requires players to re-learn how their weapons work, and it's just going to take time. I might suggest, though, that you rely on a more general-purpose weapon for snapshots and general combat. An AC/10 would fill this role.

No, you misunderstand. I probably didn't explain it well enough.
I didn't fire into the fight, which was going on to my left. When i targeted the enemy mech there were no friendly mechs in sight (in front of me).
I'm not sure why you call it an opportunity shot. The charge up time is long enough to aim well with any weapon at ranges under around 1000m. I only have difficulty aiming at long ranges (1500m+) with the new mechanic. I think releasing the mouse button moves the mouse slightly...
I always play a sniper in "infantry" fps games, and having to lead a target in MWO is practically nonexistent compared to other games.

it is not difficult to keep us generally happy, just don't serve us CoD when you sold us Mechwarrior. ;-)
