Seriously.

During the last two days I am getting A LOT more of those "outlier" matches where one or even both teams is a handfull of vet pilots mixed together with total beginners. Also the search time for a match has almost doubled on average.

So yes we are getting a lot of fresh meat still. But I fear we lost a lot of vets in the public queues and since constantly dropping with new blood that needs to be handheld is not a lot of fun I fear there's even more vets to follow them.

So where did everyone go?

Did everyone just migrate to 12v12? Or just go alltogether?

i hate to say it, but good riddance to those that rage quit. I was getting so tired of seeing the whining and crying on these forums. Honestly, the game is better for it. All they did was bring forum moral down because not everyone had the same views as them, and PGI understood this and tried to make a game that suited a bigger group of players than just us core audience, nothing wrong with that. They gave this great community a bad name, in all my years playing BT/MW on TT/PC/Jaguar(yes, i owned the atari jaguar version of mw, it was awesome) this has been the worse community experience I have ever had. It was not about the community, just about one group of players that wanted to play one style of game with no room for compromise. Hopefully the louder and more disruptive ones stay away, and this community can grow once again to being a fun loving group of people enjoying one thing in common, stompy robots in the lore of BT.

I haven't quit or anything, just playing a lot less lately. While it's nice that they've given us yet another mech and finally fixed some of the weapon balance problems, it's still the same highly incomplete deathmatch game it has been for the past year. There's just not a lot of draw to it right now. It doesn't help that a lot of what the devs have told us lately haven't really made me want to support their product; but really, if they were producing a great game I would be more than happy to let it slide. Instead we have shoot-people-or-stand-in-a-square-for-8-minutes and that's about it.

Who knows.

All I know is I haven't played a single match since 3pv came in and probably won't until we get seperate queues.

Don't take that the wrong way, I still love the game, but can't play with 3pv in and being forced to play against it.......I hate it.

My observation: Almost no one uses it. 90% of new bloods I came across lately asked how to switch camera. I don't even see it used for scouting and stuff after the last prespective change. As it stands I was right from the start: The effort creating it and the controversy vs part of their community wasn't worth it in the end because in their struggle to reach a compromise they created a feature that simply is in an unusable state.

I can't say I share your experience.

Matches for me have remained largely full of veteran players, as they have been for some time. I see some new faces, but I never see legitimately new players (re: "How do I play this game"). And I nearly exclusively solo drop.

I play in several "bands". My Heavy and Assault elo ranges are both reasonably high - high enough that I never see new players, except at really oddball hours. My Mediums, not so much. Still high enough that I don't see very many new players, but there too there's an awful lot of bodies. An entirely different subset of players - I don't ever see the same players when I drop in my Mediums as I do when I drop in Heavies or Assaults.

And again in lights: A totally different set of players, but lots of newer players here because I'm a terrible light pilot.

So... Yeah. I can't comment on your experience, but mine is definitely different. I see three completely different sets of players on a regular basis, and I only see new players in the ranges I'd expect to see them.

So what new lies from PGI will you defend and praise? I bet you will cheer when gold ammo and MC only Clan mechs come. After all, no excuse to whine no matter how PGI abuses the community, right?

Hmm good to hear that. That somewhat calms my concerns. Maybe it was just a strain of bad luck. Will further observe it.

Guess 2 is, that they have gone to play "Conquest" 'cause it's the money making mode at the moment.

Hmm haven't thought about that yet. I didn't like conquest right from the start as in my view that mode is broken by design in that it is Assault 2.0 (now with 5 caps) so I never play that.

I really hope we'll somewhen see asymmetric mission modes.

Cbill nerf and 3PV, not playing until the first is fixed and the separate queues are in for the second.
But I must be on an island. With lots of people...

Actually Conquest have reformed itself into somesort of glorious chaos where capping is secondary method of winning.
Hard to explain, but at the moment it's much more fun than Assault and pays better off.

In assault you need to stay in LARGE group to survive & win, and typically it's one location where fighting happens. Because of capping resources, in Conquest it's mandatory to separate into smaller groups, and engagements happen herethereeverywhere ;) Much more fun, hop onto fast med and try it.

cant speak for anyone else, but after eliting every light/assault and almost all heavy mechs in the game (just firebrand and orions to go) over the past 2-3 months I'm starting to get a bit burned out by the samey gameplay that has no overreaching objective, so have been playing a lot less in recent weeks.

I also particularly dislike the ghost heat changes and trend towards "lets push having mixed builds" as I don't really enjoy playing those kind of mechs, and what's the point of playing something if you don't enjoy it, right?. Good for those who do I suppose, and although I welcome moving away from "Mechsniper Online", the more it has been railroaded down this new playstyle of via recent, seemingly bizarre and illogical, changes, the more it is turning into a game that's not really for me.

edit: cant spell for toffee

I think 3PV is fine as it is now. It allows new players to at least look how their mechs move to have a better understanding about the legs+torso mechanics. Yes, I think its stupid, because I got this when I was a kid without any problems...but whatever.
More important, people can look at their mechs if they bought paint! Even if they only look at them at the beginning of a round, I think that is an important motivation for many people to buy paint.

3PV CAN be an advantage if you exploit it for looking over obstackles without the danger of being shot. But in all the games I played after the introduction I've never seen it. It's actually really, really rare that I see someone using it in general. Most of the time, when I see it, these people ask "how to switch it off" or want to look at their own mech. I've NEVER fought someone, who was in 3PV while fighting and I've never seen this on my own team.

As long as it is kept out of "competetive gaming", that is to me organised 4vs4/8vs8/12vs12 battles, I don't really care about it! Pugs can't use the "exploit" because for being usefull, they have to have voicecom to hide somewhere and tell the others, what is going on. And premades usually don't use it either.

So, after all I think the fuzz that has been made about it was definetly blown a bit out of porportion. And the "hardcore" queue will only split the community.
I HOPE they will add a third option between the other two ("play with people who want 3PV enabled" "play with people who don't want 3PV enabled"):

"Put me in any match, I don't care if 3PV is enabled or not"

The hardcore queue will contain a lot of premades and will probably take longer to find a match. The normal que will find one quicker, but will be flooded with pugs/noobs. Both options will probably a downgrade from the gamign experience now. So liek I said before, I hope that PGI will put in the "I don't care just get me in a game!" queue. ;)

Apparently only "over 50%" of founders have stayed on, as far as I'm concerned that's pretty bad considering these are guys that put in the most investment and were the most enthusiastic about the project.

I've no idea where you got that figure, but really 50%+ player retention after over a year of beta is extremely good. Playing an online game for more than a year now isn't very common overall, and beta is harder on player retention than release (more bugs, less features, etc)
