What could possibly go wrong?

... i predict rewievs around the 50-60s range (IF the testers can even play, i am looking at you start of open beta desaster)

I like the fact that the people who are "quitting this game forever!!!!!!" and "demanding a refund right now!!!!!" and "OMGPGILIEDDEKJLKJF:lsdjkf;lakjdf;lajksfdla!!!!!" are still posting in the forums.

We get it.

Go.

Away.

For all of those promised tweaks in the far future? I'm still having fun playing this game, so I'm willing to wait. I'm sure, no matter what MWO does, I'll eventually get bored and go do something else, but I'm not there yet.

I still like stomping around in big, stompy robots, and I still get a {Noble MechWarrior} flutter in my stomach playing a game I used to play on the tabletop in my early teens.

Do I want to see UI2.0? Sure.

If I don't see UI2.0 on launch will I leave? Nope. It would be nice, but I've been navigating the current version for months. It's clunky, but it works.

Do I want to see Community Warfare (CW)? Yup. I really, really, really want to shoot at other Houses' stompy robots with real consequences and, later, be on the front lines for the Clans invasion.

If CW isn't part of the launch package, will I leave? Nope. Still having fun with the capture-the-flag/team deathmatch games. For now. Like I said above, I'll eventually get bored of that. Right now, I'm leveling up my last Spider to Master and it has been a HUUUUUUGE grind that's kind of burned me out. But I'll be back once I fire up Orions.

I don't know, guys. I get the anger, but this is a game. If you don't like it or you don't like where it's going or you don't trust the company that's making it, why are you still here? There are GOBS of other games out there.

Dawnstealer, I suspect you have just spoken for the silent majority. Well said.

So... the silent majority is essentially saying:

"You whiners suck! Get out or be happy! Stop talking like there is anything wrong with these things you pretend to have an issue with!"

Jeez. If this passive-agressive mess is the silent majority/core audience, any form of community activity will sure be fun.

This has to be a deadline set by IGP.

Why would you Advertise a launch when all your features aren't even out yet. Why not just continue business as usual until you at least have CW in place then advertise a launch. Until then this just seems like open beta phase 2

You guys aren't getting it. Once this game "launches" it will be fair game. It if launches to lousy reviews, how do you think that will affect the game?

Stop being apologists and pay attention.

That's just it though, they haven't been advertising. At least, I haven't seen any ads/commercials for MWO. Only news articles from some gaming sites/blogs mention it, and here obviously.

I think they knew from the start what state launch would be in and the "Party" is going to the their real start of the media blitz, trying to dangle bright and shiny CW in front of us/reviewers to make the actual game at launch palpable.

This is the funniest thing I've come across actually:

1. Launch, market, and bring in new players
2. Change the entire UI 2 weeks later.
3. New players, just becoming acclimated to the old UI, are faced with a new UI.

*sighs*

For real?

I mean....seriously.....

For real?

And they are removing their biggest shield from some of the most dedicated people: Beta.

I honestly an absolutely flabbergasted here and can't believe this. I mean, <deleted the nasty part>

I wouldn't worry about UI 2.0 coming out 2 weeks after launch.... B) I'm sure new players will have plenty of time to get acclimated to this "place holder" UI.

I think this game is going to get worse reviews than Colonial Marines by any reviewer that is even mildly informed/Played the game for more than one match.

I really was one of those guys that would *eye roll* at the raging founders on these forums. But in my short time being part of this community, I have changed my stance. an Xbox games comes out and its tested, ready, full-featured....for $60. The people of this community often put in more than $60 per person and what we consistently get is features we dont want and none that we do.

I keep waiting for new features, like all of you. I want UI 2.0, I want CW, I really want more maps and more mechs. I want clan tech! But i'm really starting to doubt if ANY of things will arrive in an acceptable fashion. I feel like if I take a break and check back in a year, how different would the game actually look?

Found an interesting quote:
"Yes, there are many. The biggest conspiracy theory is that Community Warfare is not actually real, and that PGI created a Beta of a game just so they can collect Founder's money and dissolve the project. I have chatted with individuals who said they they would respect PGI much more than they currently do if PGI would come forward and admit that Community Warfare was a lie. Yes, they said that they would "respect PGI more" because they actually subscribed to this conspiracy. This was a fairly well-circulated conspiracy here on the forums, and little-to-none of its proponents are willing to apologize or back-down from their stance. They currently cite the lack of UI 2.0 as "evidence" that PGI is doing nothing to progress the game.

Bryan Ekman said that the game's Launch is tied to the release of a mostly-functional Community Warfare campaign, as that social infrastructure is intended to contribute very strongly to the game's replay value. So, I guess all we can do is wait for this Summer, keep leveling our Mechs up in preparation for the MetaGame, and enjoy the carnage when it officially Launches B)"

So how about it prosperity park? Are they still conspiracy theories or have they been upgraded to theories. The only carnage at launch will be MWO getting teared apart by critics.

Also I protest moving this thread since this clearly belongs in "Features that are not upcoming" forum

I agree that UI 2.0 and CW are linked elements. You need one to fully enjoy the other. That being said, I am willing to entertain the idea that CW and UI 2.0 are at worst, not actually planned OR at least will be pushed back/cancelled in favor of this becomming just an arcade PUGggers Paradise.

I bet if PGI played Dev Tycoon on Steam, they'd lose in about 5 minutes.

Will more player numbers and statistics ever be made available? They're concerned player numbers would be misconstrued. Some rationale about being disadvantaged if their competitors knew the numbers (guess someone should tell WoT and WT so they can remove their player counters post-haste lulz). According to Bryan, once they hit a certain number they plan to publish the figures "when there's no mistaking their meaning".

They are so screwed.

MWO is so screwed.

The only possible interpreteation here is that player retention is terrible ... especially when ~50% of founders (founders!) don't even play once a month. It can only be worse for non founders. If their numbers were any good, they'd publish them, and based on what they have told us, their numbers must be very, very bad.

Fairly accurate synopsis. I listened to the first 30 minutes of the NGNG podcast where UI 2.0, CW and DX 11 were discussed then turned it off in disgust.

I echo the confused sentiment of why? The game is fun, after the break in period, it is *very* unique and genuinely does not require money to play but why do they need to "release". What does it do for them, and more importantly what does it do for us? I would like this question answered.

But other than that I appreciate the transparency that PGI is showing with these interviews.
