Wispsy, Mav and myself are no longer associated with DV8. I don't think DV8 plays or attempts to play 12 mans anymore after the breakup.

yuppers...but you all play semi together enough to be considered defacto DV8, more what I meant.....I know I have enough of you in one spot to seem DV8ish lol no offense intended.

Well I don't play with DV8 at all anymore. I play with HBA, Wispsy splits his time with different units including HBA, and Mav is in HBA. To continue to give DV8 credit for what we do would be unfair and would upset me a bit.

so new player here. studied your video twice. got the raven as my first cbill purchase. Have a hero cataphract. Which jenner should I purchase? is 6ml still good or is the 2srm one better? no sure if meta has shifted due to heat nerf.

I suggest that the first thing you do is elite out your Raven so you at least have one mech functioning at full potential.
Do you know how to elite a mech? The short story is that you'll need to get the other raven variants. I can give you a couple builds for then if you'd like.

Maybe it's just the way I do it, but Ravens seem to play alot differently than the other lights. I only have the ECM Raven, I have been putting off buying the other two because I haven't seen any builds I like with them, so I would be thrilled to see your suggestions as well.

I don't think you are right about this. If you are, then nobody else knows about it. I know that Engines cannot be critted, and DHS in engine is considered nothing other than part of the engine, no extra slots are taken up by the DHS, so...there should be no benefit to DHS in the engine.

View PostDEMAX51, on 06 September 2013 - 10:16 AM, said:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't putting it in your engine give your CT structure a buffer too? It adds the chance that any damage to your internal CT will be applied as a crit to the DHS, and then only 15% of the damage would actually be applied to your CT structure.

If what I'm thinking is correct putting the DHS in the engine(regardless to other factors) would be bad because it is the only internal component that can be critted(assuming you have nothing else CT) and 15% of that damage can be transferred to internal structure, killing you quicker. Now the same thing could happen in other locations but since the jenners CT is really the only thing thats going to be hit...

If you dont have the DHS then nothing can be critted and therefore no damage can be transferred to internal structure. Can someone confirm this for me?

I am probably mistaken but I thought heat sinks that were inside the engine dissapated more heat than those outside the engine.

double heatsinks native to the engine( those ones that you dont manually add to the engine) function at 2.0 capacity. Other DHS function at 1.4 capacity. So with a 250 engine you get 10 DHS working at 2.0 but with a 225 you get 9 working at 2.0. If you add in an extra DHS to a 275 engine that extra DHS will function at 1.4 capacity. SHS always function at 1.0 capacity.

I really want to know about that too. If it's true then there is something flawed about the game, lol. It's easier to kill a component full of stuff? What? lol

Wanted to quote you because I forgot to and maybe that's how you'd know I responded.

Anyway, here are a couple builds for the other Ravens:

2 PPC Raven 2X. Unoriginal but not terrible. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...223726420e48e5c

AC20 Raven 4X: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...929f9dcdfebfdc4
Why not? Strips armor and stuff but.....who cares? AC20. If you don't like the AC20 just use the 2PPC 2X build but trade that DHS for 2 JJs.

I know, the prospects aren't great, and the new engine cap size really didn't help anything....but yeah.

understood, I guess I did not understand the gravity of the parting. No offense intended. <S> I mostly meant that the names of pilots at one time associated with those units were/are very good. and can be seen for a brief moment or two here and there. And to be wary of them/you, all. Thanks for the vid it is helping a tad.

A question if I may, on light Vs. light fighting, say two Jenner f's kitted as you suggest in your video, what would be the theory or plan going in to this fight. are you going for the legs, the diaper, the head? do you want to start the circle of death or work for another more advantageous type of confrontation?

I'd like to thank the OP for this good video. I am not a light pilot but his demostration of thought and situational awareness is of a great help to everyone.

Ah, Jenner-F vs Jenner-F is probably the highest skill fight in the game right now.

I do not go for legs initially, but I am open to the possibility of going for legs if by accident I hit leg quite a bit. Typically I want to go CT, and I don't go for diaper I just shoot at center mass of that huge boat of a CT. Shooting at the "grill" is often good.

One of the biggest things to remember in a duel is not to shut down. Honestly probably a third of jenner F duels someone shuts down and promptly loses. You have to know the percents that will shut you down and don't shoot until you are below them. Never turn your legs while firing, only torso. Position your legs before the shot so that you will be able to keep your full laser beam on them just by twisting your torso.

Thanks for the inspiring guide! I've just started playing jenners again after a long break. What do you think about the JR7-K variant - is it really worth keeping?

Actually, I have just started using it again, and it seems to be working well. However, I am only finding a place for it as a niche for a light lance commander that can count on strong support from other lights. I'm using it with Air Strike, Art Strike, UAV, and Seismic. All of these modules allow me to support the bigs. I also run AMS which lets me support the lights and the bigs against streaks/LRMs repectively. Other than that, I carry 4 ML and 1 Streak, 1 ton of ammo and no BAP. It really isn't a very good pug build, but I believe it may be the best way to lead a light squad, and influence as many matches as possible for your team. Keep in mind the modules cost 120k per match, so you will rarely make any money using it.

Great stuff, It's nice to see this all broken down, as I do so much of it instinctively that It's hard to improve.

Nice point about knowing who's bothering with you and who isn't. I've not really thought about that much before.

i saw you take down a streakcat in the video.

in your opinion, is the streak-taro a legitimate threat to jenner f pilots that they should avoid? if not, how do you deal with them?
