You ARE making all of them on One/Two or several computers.

So what if the developers of the system made a little piece of code that compares ALL of the results that are received from that system checker. You can all see that if you're not using the specifications given by it, it stays on 96% so it's quite plausible.
What if that piece of code compares the specs between two accounts, and if they match, both accounts or one, is removed from the key receiving list? You'll probably think again about making 25000 accounts.

Myself, i can wait.. I know that there will be no problem related to me playing the game, so why rush?

As they said: "Patience is a virtue".

Your in the UK as far as i've seen only North America can get in so you can make a million accounts and your still not getting in.

(states in the Operation Inception that beta and early access - for buying Op Incep - ) however i think the Inception pack is getting into general release after a staff post saying wait for some good news.

No where was it stated that beta keys would be going only to North Americans.

Only problem I see is that people may break NDA repeatedly on 2nd account's while they play the game with their main. THAT would be breaking NDA rule, further... on itself it is not a violation to make more accounts, no?

I wonder how much of our community is real or just inflated accounts trying to get beta keys?

You're going to have to find me an actual quote stating that they aren't inviting people outside of North America, because that's not it.

If you are not cheating, the only one cheated is you.

IMO, it's not cheating. It might be unethical but not cheating. You're using the system exactly as it was designed.

Right now I have 3 accounts. I opened the first under the name I have always used in every MW incarnation that has been out (except for MPBT: 3025 where the special characters weren't allowed).
I opened another account under this current name so someone wouldn't try and claim it under a unit they didn't belong to, and opened another under DC_Havoc which was the name I went by while playing MPBT:3025 and several members here may or not remember me by.

If by some stupid fluke all 3 accounts get invited to beta (none of them have BTW, damnit.) am I cheating because I have more that 1 account opened?

PGI won't let me delete the other accounts, and they won't let me rename the one I was using that they decided to rename for me. Am I cheating because I created another account(s) with names that I have also used in the past so that someone who may or may not play/behave in a respective manner (or even worse than I do) cannot use that name and cause confusion/strife?

So in your eyes Unethical and Cheating are not the same thing?

That is very interesting actually, there is a debate in there I think :D

I think it is cheating, ye its cheating. The forum offers no service that would require anyone to make more than one account and so the only reason for more than one is to try to beat others. However this is not a game or a competition.

I would really have to question if you want to get beta access because you are very keen on writing a lot of bug reports or do you just want to play the game badly?

*For in-game currency, Founders’ accounts will be credited beginning July 17th with a non-refundable amount of in-game currency equivalent to the retail cost set out in each package above ($40 value for VETERAN Founders, $80 value for ELITE Founders), and those credits may be used for in-game purchases of virtual items only. The closed beta and OPERATION INCEPTION assets will enjoy support only in North America.

Figured i would link that over since that is the full paragraph stating the NA support thing. Eitherway i can wait its only a month or two away for me. Though I would dearly love a beta key XD who can really blame me? Though its plausible some one can get two keys, I would just like to think its not very likely.

Good point actually.

They know I'm from UK, why bother showing me the beta status and being that cheeky. Now that would be worth a complaint. I would be very surprised if they are misleading people, suppose such things could happen as an oversite.

We already know of several people outside NA who are in the beta. It just means that the servers are NA-based and outside that region nothing in terms of service can be guaranteed.

Ummm... Unless you are entering fake Real Life names for each account, which would make the NDA rather pointless...

Then they know if you have multiple accounts because your name is the same on each one. Now it is up to PGI in their random draw if they take that into consideration...

Just saying...

Cheating, hacks, etc were what drove me aware from a number of online games (including MechCommander) in years past... For a skill based game, I would rather have someone buy superior equipment from the game inself rather than use hacks and cheat codes... even using a glitch for benefit, especially if not reported, is cheating....

And if you check the definition (Wikipedia used below):

Cheating

Cheating refers to an immoral way of achieving a goal. It is generally used for the breaking of rules to gain advantage in a competitive situation. The rules infringed may be explicit, or they may be from an unwritten code of conduct based on morality, ethics or custom, making the identification of cheating a subjective process.

I would not want a cheater in my ranks were I leading a House, in my company leading Mercs, or even on my team in a pickup. In other games, when the cheat in question does not one-shot me, I will target that player to destruction even if on my side....

Having a "back-up" account, for experimenting and such, is an accepted practice... loading up the account servers with bogus accounts because someone is too impatient to join a Beta test group? Ridiculous!
