Sorry, let me clarify. I have three friends whose computers can run the game, and they would try it if they could join the same game that I am in instead of being matched with random strangers. Back in the day we used to have Mechwarrior 4 LAN parties at my house and it was amazing.

They can. Add them as friends and then you can team with them in an up-to-four person group.

As a parent and husband I would like the option to turn chat off!! I'd like for my children to be able to play/watch MWO and my wife to play without the sexual harassment!!

It's extremely toxic community of grumpy old people that just want to see the game burn, if not done in their image.

With regards to allowing reconnects, one point to note is that in the event the users internet went down that's not going to help much, or if they intentionally cable pulled, but yes it is something we are considering.

Curious. Is there a difference between someone just alt-f4ing their client as opposed to yanking the cable and timing out? Don't both result in a loss being recorded for the player doing it?

Nope! I only commented that my cheese was hard to open. All I'm guilty of is trolling all the really mad grognards around here though really that's not particularly hard.

I would recommend it, it's one of the things I really liked about World of Tanks when I used to play that, and in League of Legends as well. Even if it only is relevant 1 out of 100 matches, it is great to be able to reconnect to that fight (particularly since there are still some bugs in MWO that cause crashes). Helps prevent a lot of frustration and feeling penalized by the 'lockout' on mechs, in which case a player is likely to just fire up a different game.

Probably just people trying them out to see if they can be a better option than ERPPC, it'll fade quickly.

PGI reinvented the heat scale based on what may have been a poor understanding of tabletop rules and interpreted heat sinks to work based on that reimagined scale while maintaining weapons at their canon values instead of resetting their values to work with the new heat scale.
That's realy it in my mind. PGI's heat scale, which is a primary means of balance in every other game and on the tabletop version, isn't the same as the tabletop version. Yet, the weapons are almost completely canon. PGI's heat sink interpretation, frankly put, doesn't work. Heat sinks don't dissipate heat. Heat is dissipated at a steady rate. Heat sinks simply just add heat capacity to the mech. If PGI wants to use their own heat scale, then they need to readdress the weapons to participate in that scale, both in terms of damage, RoF, Crit space, and tonnage. In tabletop there were 3 balancing factors, tonnage, crit space, and heat. PGI can't change the heat system without having to change the tonnage and crit space of weapons, and that's a fact I don't think they've realized yet.

I'm sorry but that's just idiotic. Try a REAL argument please.
Those of us who may have purchased hero 'mechs or donated for the Sarah Jenner might find it offensive that you compare our desire to pilot these paid for 'mechs as 'peeing in a pool'.
You just come off sounding like such an arse hole...
My apologies you cannot tolerate the opinion of another poster, let alone come across as mature.
