Given that shameless nvidia plug when you launch the game, I doubt they would make a version for the AMD based xbox/PS. Also it would be interesting to see how such a system is managed. As far as I know there are no mainstream free to play games on a console. I would expect microsoft or sony to want a cut of any transactions.

The splash screen? Pretty sure you don't even see that on an AMD card which you can run this game on already anyway. Sony is a moot point since Mircosoft wasn't keen on their IP being on the Playstations anyway.

Honestly - you'd think they would have a new map for launch at the minimum....instead, nothing. Nothing.

No actually, the new shop is part of the first run of UI2.0. Bryan says so in the NGNG interview, but tries to make things sound a lot more optimistic than they truly are.

That's what I was afraid of, when they went for the big 'cash-in-advance grab with Phoenix. With everyone waiting for 12 new Mechs they already bought in that package, there's less reason to keep spending on other Mechs for a few months.

Nothing new will get released on official launch, except maybe the shop.
However, Im not too concern about as this as this is the tradition of most MMOG launch. New content and update generally only happen 1 month after the official release.
Because having a Day1 server crash or major bug from a new update is as bad as Blizzard's Diablo 3's launch.

Will see what's up their sleeve in the launch party weeks after the official launch.
I believe it is during this time they will start releasing information for major content, such as CW and Clan.

That is only "common" for triple A titles that allready have tons of content and more importantly, are feature complete at launch day. MWO is neither a triple A title nor is it feature complete.. it doesnt even have the bare basics of other games like a lobby or guild system.. all it is is a glorified deathmatch mode with zero options for organised play in the game.. instead people have to rely on 3rd party applications and sheer dumb luck if they want to have even a resemblance of organised play (sheer luck comes with finding the team youre looking for in the 12 man que.. wich isnt that hard because barely anyone uses the damn thing)

If you listened to the NGNG The Bryan Ekman Trilogy. Bryan said its just a formality. So you can expect the same o same o.

http://www.nogutsnog...et/podcasts.php

It would be nice if all the beta testers got a cammo or something we can put in our mechs.

No advertising, no news anywhere to be seen in the last week.

Hello it is launch, should that not be something important?

Actually this is the conclusion I am starting to draw and why I am not spending any more money on the game right now.

Everything seems to be focused around squeezing the most money they can out of the player. There is no effort spent on events or incentives to play or even get players involved. New content is being delayed over and over again, almost like they don't have staff working on it. Lanch which should be a big event no matter what the situation just seems to be being ignored. Unfortunately all the signs of impending failure or at least the perceptions of such. PGI really needs to start working to correct these preceptions really quick or it will definately become a reality.

Not just for AAA title but pretty much any MMOG launch here in the last 5 years or so.
This is the currently trend in Asia, and as more Asian developer and publisher (Perfect World, Nexon, NHN, etc) move into the west it will become the norm there soon.

Dragon Nest Online start service with just PvE and it wasn't until 4 or 6 months later they introduce PvP.
MapleStory and Ragnarok Online 1 started as a pure PvE grinder, and it took them several years of content to make them what they are today, among the longest surviving MMOG.
Tera Online didn't even have Guild system upon launch and Politic system only become available after Guild system went live.
Phantasy Star Online 2 Japan have been in service for over a year, yet PvP is still coming soon, even though the community have been asking for the feature since launch.
Arche Age went through 2 years of Close Beta.

Collecting money while still in Beta have been an accepted fact of MMOG over here for at least 7 or 8 years.

If big development house are acting like this is the norm, you better be expecting the smaller one to pick the habit.
