I must say the bounty system was probably one of the most innovative ideas I've heard of in a long time.

OMG...Russ says, "I can't imagine what the game will look like in a year" in the presentation intro. I have the answer! Based on the last year, a year from now it will look the same way it does now...

Yeah its hard to imagine what the game will look like in a year when the servers are shut down because the game died.

Sandpit really man, ever hear of EVE online ...exactly the same bounty system since 2004. In fact what ideas were presented, were direct rip off's a 50/50 split between WOW and EVE online,

guilds (WOW) star map, bounties planets (EVE online) all wrapped up in one power point presentation that if I made for my 2 bit company would get me fired..so bad..

Wow with that argumentation star citizen is a 100% rip off of EvE-online...

Also the EvE bounty system was/is complete nonsense, as you can just log on a second account and kill yourself to collect the bounty - that is why no one placed bounties on someones head. Those guys with huge bounties on their heads were people, who played supersafe and were 100% sure never to die - their bounty also most likely came from themselves :)

I don't mind if they rip off every good game idea ever previously created, and put it in MWO.

As long as they actually do put some kind of metagame into MWO - soon! We've had two years of big ideas explained via PowerPoints, but with Jack Squat delivery of those ideas.

So...

It's been many hours and due to the timing (and the fact that I am in the UK) the stream was too late for me to watch. And that's fair enough, I don't expect it to be at a reasonable time in every timezone.

What I do expect is that by now I can look on the official site / forum and find an official post detailing at least the presentation if not the event as a whole.

Before I go off on one about how one of the major complaints about PGI which they have claimed to be addressing is poor communication, have I missed some official post anywhere?

And no, I cba to watch the twitch stream, I just want to spend a few minutes reading what info they gave out (all light-hearted forum mockery aside).

No, I haven't played Eve. Jeez guys I was just saying I like the idea of it. I never said they originally thought of the idea either. I just said it was one of the best innovations I've personally heard of in a long time

Of course it is. :)

As for those who forked ¥£$ for SC, can I play now? Or is still "gawk at your ship" mode as of today?

Soon you'll be able to gawk at a fish in your fishtank too!

Quote

In addition to this stretch goal, we have an extra reward for the community: a fish tank decoration for your hangar! In the grand tradition of Starlancer, here’s a little bit of nature to break up your high-tech hangar. Your fish tanks will be added to your accounts very soon and will be included with the Hangar in an upcoming patch. Included in your fish tank is a rare gold Midas fish, found on the planet Cassel in the Goss System (pictured above). Star Citizen will allow you to add more fish to your tank by exploring distant planets and collecting new species.

To answer your question, it's still just the hanger module for now.

It'll still be a few months before it's features catch up to MWO. :)

Oh, don't even go there. You absolutely can not attribute guilds or faction reputation grinds to wow, or star maps and planets to eve. EVE *may* have been the first game with player bounties, but who cares? It's a great idea.

It doesn't matter where the idea came from, if it's good and fits with the game design, put it in!

A freaking goldfish? Make it a piranha, or better yet a pacu, and I just might join in. But a freaking goldfish?

There will be different types of fish you can buy. For real money. For virtual fish in your virtual fish tank in a space game. :)
