We had some people from KONG at the launch event, including myself.

The event itself was pretty awful, I feel bad for anyone who paid to fly down from out of state and came solo, it seems to me the only fun to be had was either if you were in the tournament yourself or if you were flying down with friends or fellow corp members. The whole event was standing room only with only 2 small couches, so you had to stand for all 8 hours, the free food was just some broccoli with dip and some bitter tasting flat bread with cheese and veggies and cold hotwings, the event was plagued by slow spots where we would just stand around doing nothing while they had technical difficulties (and I'm talking about in-game ones), and I don't know how you people watching the stream fared but in person you couldn't make out anything on the poor quality projector screen so you could barely even watch the tournament during the Forest Colony drops, and something you might have not noticed if you were watching the stream, but in person you couldn't hear the commentary at all, so for us the tournament was silent except for the game. The only thing to even do was to play on the two Razer laptops upstairs. It seems to me like everyone was just standing around waiting for their free shirts, which, they weren't even planning on giving out until 9:30 to make us stay. Of course, so many people wanted to leave that they actually started giving them out early by request, and let me tell you, there was a line at the exit just to get your stuff and go after that PC Gamer rehash presentation.

I know people will say that it was PGI's first event so give them a break but...what was even the point of the event? They could have just had the tourny without flying everyone down, there was literally nothing to do, we were paid in t-shirts to just stand around and make the room look populated so PGI could get some nice footage to show investors, there was 0 point to this meeting, the developers and PGI staff didn't even interact with us past giving brief AtD style answers to any questions we could ask the few brief times we could catch them when they'd run from the stage and back into their little segretated VIP area. They should have AT LEAST shown off clan mech concept art considering Bryan said it's already finished. But NOPE.

I think the worst of it all was how insincere Bryan came off as, then again, for all I know I was confusing incompetence with insincerity, not sure which is worse. I have no idea if you guys had a view of this from the stream but the entire time it seemed like Bryan was just making things up as he went along, to the point where he'd frantically motion toward Phil to change the slide when he'd run out of things to think up of. Even more hilarious was Paul just sitting there the entire time playing Tetris on his phone, completely and utterly disinterested in the whole thing.

I have no idea if the event was any different from the PoV of the stream, but in person, it painted a very stark reality. I don't know about you guys, but the event has done the opposite for me, it's killed any hope I had for getting any sort of new meaningful features or game modes any time soon, or for this game to ever get any better.

that's more disheartening than the cw reveal :)

I know we have seen some "not too pretty" things from PGI but even so, it's hard to believe what you said is true... I mean, you're yankin' our chain, right?
Please tell me you are...

Oh, don't even go there. You absolutely can not attribute guilds or faction reputation grinds to wow, or star maps and planets to eve. EVE *may* have been the first game with player bounties, but who cares? It's a great idea.

It doesn't matter where the idea came from, if it's good and fits with the game design, put it in!

I'd credit blinkin for being persistent about the bounty thing. It definitely was not PGI's idea.

Dude, leave Paul alone. He's balancing the game!

I wanted it to be fun, I really did, I wanted it to be, I was looking forward to the reveal and the presentation, I wanted my awesome t-shirt, but come on PGI...come on. They couldn't even get the pizza right, I mean come on, assuming everyone at the event (200 people) gets 3 slices per person (68 slices) and each pizza is 12 slices, they could have ordered Pizza from the Little Caesars nearby and had gotten us all pizza for...get this...a grand total of 30$...

To give you an idea of how mediocre the event was, everyone I saw was WATCHING THE STREAM, OF THE EVENT, IN PERSON, ON THEIR iPADS, THATS HOW DIFFERENT THE EVENT WAS FROM YOUR GUYS POINT OF VIEW, instead of, you know, WATCHING IT ON THE PROJECTOR IN PERSON.

why aren't the mods permanently banning forum posters who are advocating star citizen? it's blatant soliciting of their playerbase and is not acceptable, if you don't like this game and are moving on to star citizen then leave and quit trying to steal away as many players as possible

Are you only capable of playing one game?

Personally I have dozens installed. Neither MWO nor SC require a subscription and there is very little in common between the games.

It is off topic, but the most of the thread is tbh

Your math is off - 200 people at 3 slices each is 600 slices. Still, that's only $250 (Fifty 12-slice pizzas at $5 each). Not bad for feeding 200 people. They probably spent more than that for the catering they had.

Ambulance rides for 200 people to the hospital are far more expensive than $30. :)

So Heffay, I take the fact that you're ignoring me to mean that you're not willing to back up your offer to bet about CIG putting cash-only fish in Star Citizen. It's a little rude to just ignore me - just tell me straight if you aren't willing to actually bet.

That will require even less food than they needed at the launch party!

I...I don't get what you're trying to say. Are you implying Little Caesars pizza is bad? Because that ***** delicious for 5$, having good pizza would have bumped the event from a 5.3 to a solid 6 for me at least.

Bad? I guess taking the audience into account and the booze consumption, it would have been appropriate food. But let's not kid ourselves and think that Little Caesar's pizza is good to anyone beyond the Applebee's crowd. :)

What does it matter?

They already have cash only cosmetic items.

There are other skins which may be available in game, but these two are specifically related to pledging.

Well when you put it that way, Little Caesars would have been the perfect pizza for this game:

Passable, edible when there are no other alternatives, but ultimately sub-par with far better options.

Sorry it was so awful. My only thoughts are is either they really are disinterested in this by now or it was a scam for cash from the start. There are outfits that will put on events for those who lack the expertise. Maybe someday one of the bodies at that place will come out with a tell all. For now I thik its the special programs division at Goldman Sachs which means bend over this will hurt in the end.

I made no judgments on it, I just pointed out their existence. But if he takes such issue with Heffay suggesting the idea of a cash only cosmetic item (in this case a fish) then he might as well know that there are already cash only cosmetic items.
