I came back after over a year just to post in this thread and rate MWO a 0 on metacritic. Had fun, would do again.

And here is the perfect sample of what I was taking about earlier.

These people talk about how "disappointed" they are by the state of the game, and then go and make sure that the game never has a chance to get better.

As if IGP/PGI hasn't already seen to this. :P

Use the review to help MWO, not to kill it.

How does one use the review to get the game's licensing pulled and given to a competent developer?

EDIT: And it seems removing the "Beta Shield" didn't disband the White Knights- it simply sent them to Metacritic. Really love the one who howls about "unfair" ratings then explains he gave this P.O.S. a 10/10 "to offset" all the *other* extreme-bias reviews. Just...wow.

It's not like mwo has a silent majority of players, everyone who cares enough to rate the game, for good or ill, is going to be a forum posting founder. That speaks volumes about this games reach.

I would say not everybody is chomping at the bit to write a review so early after they're given the ability to. Except for vindictive people looking to purposefully tank the score. Though to be fair to some who have written, some of those scores are pretty fair despite being negative. That's fine. I myself would give it a 5 or 6 in it's current state and I like the damn game. I suspect it'll balance out over time. The launch trailer started with something like 70% negative and is now like 66% positive.

Interesting how all the green scores except one are 10s. These people are in such incredible denial. Whatever you may think about the game or PGI, MWO is NOT a 10/10 game.

I'd guess at least a few of the greens are dummies.

I know it's not a 10. But I also know it's not less than a 6.

So if the trolls are gonna give it 0's, you bet I'm gonna give it 10's.

bear in mind that I did not give MWO a meta critic review. If I did, it would have been closer to 7/10, with most of the points loss due to no replayability, or lack of reasons to play more than a few games a day. Still, I look at games like MW4, MW2 and etc and MWO, being still riddled with bugs and bad hit detection, I miss the good old days.

And that's where I think MWO is too. Which is why I spoke out specifically against the people trying to destroy the game by giving it bad reviews.

Drop the "launch day" nonsense. The launch day patch was literally just a new cbill mech and a meaningless change to some ACs and 12v12 3pv. The game could have been reviewed a month ago and it would be the exact same game.

meta scores are a big thing for games and gamers. It describes "almost" everyones experience. PGI and IGP should consider what they are saying and instead should have pushed a lot of things up for launch. They didn't and now they have launched the game with minimal features and are going to be paying heavily for it.

Laughing at the "reviews".

"I got banned for being a *********. Score: 0"

"No bugs have ever been fixed since closed beta. Score: 0"

"My life revolves around this game, and my life is terrible. Must be game's fault. Score: 0"

"Cash grab, pay to win game. Score: 0"

Yet another reason why nobody cares about metacritic.

Stop asking people to lie, please. The game is not a good game, and whether it could be someday is irrelevant. They chose to launch today without a majority of it's features. They CHOSE to launch it today.

Yeah, that's going to make the scores look valid. If someone sees all tens and then a shitton of sub 5s he is probably going to discount the tens, more at least than he would discount 6-9s.

Way to put words into my mouth. I only brought up the damn trailer because it's an example of what I'm talking about.

You do realize you and others giving it 10 are being equally dishonest like those that are giving it a 0?

Trolling the trolls on the opposite end doesn't actually address the problems that this game faces. All it does is show that irrational people do stupid things. It doesn't work.

The reason I give them no mercy for being smaller / less funded that some companies is that's not the problem and never has been.

Sure, we're upset about missed features like CW and UI2.0. However the reason we are upset is that they spent time working on total trash we hate (3PV/Ghost Heat) instead.

That's why a lot of people are upset. It's not a lack of funding or features, it's the terrible misuse of their development and their throwing the community a finger in their deathgrip on "We know best even though we don't know the game at all" logic.

And yes, they don't know their game. I've had a few questions asked on the NGNG podcast:

Ghost Heat - Garth - Thought it'd take 4 weapons to even risk Ghost Heat, and thought that "not many 'mechs can carry more than 4 can they?"

'Mech Movement Modifier - Bryan - Thought it was weight-classed base and/or determined with "math" and then "confirmed it." In reality it's a manually set tag that's hidden from users, and varies from 'mech to 'mech: Stalker is Large, Victor is Huge, etc.

My point is these are really core issues and things that really upset the community and they, after everything we've done, don't even understand the most basic systems in the game; and these are people that have a say in balancing it, with a refusal to take community feedback.

The patch before this one? Primarily community feedback. Do you know what? Rage dropped big time and the game got way more fun. Because they finally, finally did what we asked them to - that took probably less than an hour, no less, given I could have made the same fixes in about 10 minutes no joke; I had hoped to see more of that in this next patch, but alas, they didn't even bother to touch lasers and only reduced ghost heat on AC2, instead of removing it, because Paul simply won't let his horribly mutated, screwed up baby die.

Metacritic scores from ACTUAL GAME CRITICS matter (sometimes developer's bonuses are based on hitting a certain metacritic score). User reviews mean *literally* nothing, and everybody knows this.

No doubt in my mind at this point that the people giving sub 5 scores to 0 are purely trolling this game and care nothing for mechwarrior or this franchise.

I really hope PGI or IGN does an article on these trolls in the same vien as the Diablo 3 metacritic fiasco. Gamers have turned into the worst kind of netizens, and this type of behaviour is exactly why eventually we will lose internet anonymity because of the foolish and childish behavior of these morons.
