No one is going to read the user reviews.

The sad thing is all the phony accounts used to hand out zero ratings, like Sean_Lang, Prosperity Park, Egomane, miSs, etc, etc. They should just strip out all the 0s and 10s as clearly biased.

Of course, there are twice as many 0s  , so it would probably give a much better score overall. And probably closer to an accurate one.

The 0's are just as sad as the 10's. The game doesn't deserve either extreme. It should fall right in the middle somewhere 4-6 imo.

I know that yesterday was the official launch and that some people were really hyped about it. PGI kind of hinted that something special was in the works and people were just expecting more. I was expecting something, but I am on for the long haul and want a storyline to develop. Life is a journey, we are an instant gratification society, and people forget that not every hour of the day is filled with excitement. The tortoise won the race because he did not burn out to fast, so lets have fun and be here for a while.... my 2 cents.

Really, you took the time to count the zeroes and tens? At least I can't get a quick overview of the amount of votes for certain scores.

And what are you going to say if the average reviews are in the 70-80s range?

It is pretty much guaranteed that PCGamer is in the bag (camo+colors anyone?). Everything else, I'm not so sure.

I think they are waiting to see if this "launch" is a joke before weighing in. Even with all the money IGP slipped PC gamer they have to be wondering how they can review this when they called it one of the best 25 PC shooters ever...ever...

Yeah almost forgot about that, in the top 25 PC shooter ever really is cringe-worthy.

Considering the intense polarization I'd say the user reviews for this game are quite honestly not worth the effort in looking at.

Law of averages, a thousand approximate guesses usually identify the exact score. The vast majority of these user reviews seem highly polarized and biased in some manner, utterly negating the approximate part of the law. When asked to guess how many jelly beans are in a jar, you don't vote 0 or 1 million, thus right now.... honestly... User Metacritic scores for MWO are equivalent to junk.

I'd personally rate it a 6.6-7.5 region as it currently stands due to a lacking UI and lack of playable features. However the gameplay itself is top notch, one of the best shooters I've played in a long time and balance is approaching equilibrium, so quite honestly I should be seeing more 5/10 vote regions over the insane polarization.

In all honesty I am upset at the results because they are actually a true reflection of the game at the moment, heads need to roll at PGI or this game is doomed, it's being driven forward by utter idiots.

Well looking at the a lot of the other Free to Play games on metacritic, I would say professional reviews wont start coming in for another month or two. So everyone should just sit back, relax, and check back in October or November.

If you expect to see 5s and its a 5.3 or whatever now...where is the issue?

What? Game reviews are usually given on their release day or in this games case launch day. The only reason we probably haven't seen a major review yet is because most in the industry was or is playing and writing reviews for GTA V.

I doubt any will roll. In terms of damage control, there is a lot they could do to get most of the hate off their backs and turn people back to their side. It just seems they don't know how/can't be bothered to do it.

Admitting ones own mistakes is one of the most respectable things a person can do (in my opinion), so long as they learn from them and do not repeat said mistakes.

Can only wait and see now I guess.

So.... You either die as a white knight, or you live long enough to become a black knight.

I think that says something about you Nova...

Anyway as i said before (and now proven) the covent of the black knight will use metacritic (just like they use X-Fire) to add "weight" to their argument.. The comming weeks will be wonderful..#Sarcasmistheword. #metacritigistherapture

The easy way out here would be to do the following:
  • Separate queue for 1st person only (and I don't mean only 12v12).
  • Rethink ECM with player input
  • Rethink "ghost heat" mechanic
  • Be realistic about time lines and explain why.
  • Remove coolant
  • Lobby
  • UI 2.0
  • Community Warfare

Do those things and we will come back and throw money at you PGI. You already got about $1,000 USD from me and there is a lot more where that came from, but you have to earn it.

Didn't count. Sorted by score, then noticed that the 0s had a page and a half, and the 10s barely half a page. So it's a rough estimate.

Well, right now the average raiting is sitting at 5.1 and I think that's fair. 50% positive/negative review for a 50% finished game.

That describers the game perfectly. Better yet I can describe it with 1 word:

Meh

Check out the dates on World of Tanks. the NA and EU version released on April 12th 2011, yet they didn't really start coming in until late April, May, June, and July.

Free-to-play games are generally not given the same level of attention (with regards to reviews) as traditionally published games. It will probably be a while before we start to see many critics write about MWO.

Edit: One of the reasons for this is the very nature of f2p games - it doesn't cost the consumer anything to try it, so you needn't rely on a critic's opinion to, say, justify a $60 purchase.

There you have it. MWO is a better game than World of Tanks. The users have spoken.

You shouldn't have done that. I foresee more zero bombs.

My Take.

All zeroes and tens should be discarded. In my opinion the game is 5/10. It would have gotten a 10/10 had the given me the full game instead of half of it. I'm not going to bother bashing the game on metacritic. I WANT people to come and play. I need targets to shoot . I am still voting with my wallet, that's enough for me.
