Just don't bomb the game in order to prove to yourself that people are going to bomb it. This game is not a 1 out of 10 it's just not where we'd like it to be.

Thing is, PGI doesn't listen to anyone but themselves, so if we can't prove to them that they're going the wrong way, we'll ask the authorities to set up the signs for us.
If the game loses popularity due to this, so be it. PGI doesn't deserve any more money on account of the MW IP. I'd rather see this game burn and resurrect in a couple years in the hands of someone far more capable.

I'm abstaining from writing a review until I'm in a neutral mood.

It's been a month. I'm still pissed. The review I gave fits that.

Sounds arrogant to me and i see wrong attitude in your words. Please talk for yourself only, not for all of us founders. I think this is the best mech warrior game we ever had...the last thing I know about this game class is 10 years of jump-sniping-PPC-gladiator-7LL-Novacat-parties. In MWO, you find pilots of every weight class who love their mech despite their ability to take an assault as well. Plus UAV gadgets and so much more fun. Swallow it and don't gossip the game in your frustration over PGI.

Al Bert

Yes. This is the best Mechwarrior. It is not the best game ever, yet. It IS the best MechWarrior. MWLL got half way to here and had other features, but it wasn't as cool and fun as this, or it would be rocking. MekTeks revamp of MW4 and attempt to keep afloat was excellent, but it had 1999 physics. This is the best multi-player MechWarrior. (because I started thinking about cool MW2 and MW3 missions, and this has 0.) :)

Not that I read it.. but do you think someone should write a review about you when they're pissed with you? (Old employer giving a "recommendation" for example?)

I gave them a review, it was honest and open.. and no, it was certainly not glowing.

Now for my own observation if you think the metacritic scoring is bad now, just wait until the people who don't play anymore show up.
Like me. My score will be a zero only for the state of the current condition of the game. It's a demo that is all.
We used to get a disc full of games from pcgamer, just like this.

Stopped reading the red ones when it became clear that most of the low scores were lengthy diatribes along the lines of "my wants haven't been met by the devs". Not actual reviews of what the game actually is.
Smacks of ********.
But hey - everybody is entiteled to an opinion. If "help, help, I'm being disregarded so I'll give the game a bad score" reviews are going to help MWO in the long term is another matter. Personally, I doubt it.

Stop reading the green ones too then. They are just as bad.

No, ghost heat proved to me that the design talent behind this game are truly incompetent and that the game was a train wreck no longer worth holding out hope for. That you have to rationalize it to yourself by saying that it only effects people with specific builds (those builds being like 90% of what people were using at that point) just makes you look kind sad.
Ghost heat never bothered me, but then again neither did high alpha builds even though I never used them. Time and again it was proven that they weren't hard to take down. I don't need everything made easy and completely balanced, but I come from that school that not everything Is fair. I also don't suck as at video games which more then likely do, hence the constant slamming of this one. Keep at it everyone know you are just the lord of the Trollheims and are about as significant as the rest of us in the grand scheme of things.

You know...I was angry. For all the reasons many have posted. But I have progressed now to sadness. Sadness at the lost opportunity to build something amazing and cool based on a beloved franchise (kinda like Star Citizen feels right now and how MWO felt in August of 2012). Sadness that no one, apparently even at PGI, cares enough to make an online launch *event* that lovingly hypes their premiere product in a spectacular way (I'm no PR person but I could have put together a package of goodies and fun ideas that were better than a swiped video and a "please play 24 matches" bauble). To me, that speaks volumes. They don't appear to even believe in it any more and seem to be going through the motions. I've seen this happen in failing organizations before. I think they know they are on a sinking ship...and that has to suck. I am sad people will soon be losing their jobs, probably right before Christmas. In a poor economy. Families will be affected. It is truly tragic that the arrogance of a few leaders will negatively affect so many people (a number of whom I believe are great people) and the kicker is...so many of us were *wanting* to give them more money...if they would have just built the game they promised...or had at least made an effort to get close. Like I said, sad. Very sad. Peace. Out.

The only reason the game has risen up to a 5 ( for the time being ) is due in part to Phil the shill going out of his way to vote bomb it.

However, the real fun begins when the people who have yet to vote without an agenda slowly trickle in.

You can only spam 10's for so long until it gets boring and fruitless.

Personally gave the game a 7, because that is where I feel it is at. Is the game just the way I want it... no... but it is still fun and the balance is getting better with every patch.

People giving the game 0's or 10's are the worst sort of trolls... in my humble opinion.

well, fortunately for me I have enough discretionary revenues to be able to afford money loss on a F2P. Still, you can't expect me to think "oh well, better luck next time", right? That's still my money that I worked for and it's been misused by the people I've trusted my money to.

Yeah as pissed as I am, I wrote this one off. I got screwed, but I'll NEVER make this mistake again. Such as MW:Tactics. I'll die before I spend a penny on that game as I'm sure it has a lot of the same investors. I'm out of the Founding business permanently, :)

Your attempt/desire to be even handed is admirable.

As for someone writing a review while they are ticked off (or whatever)... it could be entirely appropriate. Does the objectionable condition/behavior still exist? Is there any reason to expect it will cease or substantially improve? Has the responsible party acknowledged their error(s) and demonstrated any sincerity or integrity about reversing course?

The answers to those, or similar questions may very well warrant a negative review.

To use your 'old employer' scenario, as a possible example...
--------------------------------------
In your interview to get hired you told the employer, "My core principles are [fill in the blank], and they guide my work, from the foundation, up!"... and results in your employer being favorably impressed and leads them to hire you for a big project

You collect pay checks from them, and then after some period of time, (perhaps after your probationary period has ended) you start producing work that is clearly not in accordance with your previously stated core principles. Your employer becomes concerned and brings you in for a counseling session, voicing their displeasure over your apparent abandonment of your core principles that got you hired.

You make an unequivocal promise to produce the type of work that your employer appeared to be highly concerned about, and it mollifies them at that time. You continue to draw paychecks. Further on down the road, and slightly over a month before your big project deadline, you again depart from the agreed upon path... from the path you unequivocally promised to follow ... the promise you made that enabled you to collect more paychecks. Not only that, you cop an attitude about it with your employer while doing it. You make it clear that you think you know better. The deadline arrives and the employer does not get the work product they expected you to produce based upon your stated core principles, and your subsequent unequivocal promise.
--------------------------------------

I'd expect the employer to give a substantially unsatisfactory job recommendation when your future prospective employers inquire. I'd expect it to be that way a month after you got fired, or 2 years (or more) after you got fired. The lack of integrity demonstrated in that example would render any promises, or stated intentions about future work, suspect.

-------------------------------------

And if anybody is wondering, no, I didn't post a user review on metacritic. I don't have an account on there, and currently do not intend to create one just to add another dissatisfied post to the growing collection.

Did they finally end up giving founders of MW:T a premium time button too? Honestly, I liked it but the mandatory delay between doing *ANYTHING*, no matter how minor, and it actually being done became maddening after a while. Just lie to me, hide the delay. I know gaming in general is not exactly the best use of time, but I can actually feel the precious seconds of my life ticking away when I click torso twist and wait... wait... wait.. okay I've torso twisted. Now I need to fire my medium laser. click. wait... wait.. wait... okay, now I need to torso twist again and- oops, wrong direction... wait... wait... wait.. okay now i'll undo that... click... wait... wait... wait...
