Each planet's Sun has spontaneously gone Supernova and killed all sentient life in the Inner Sphere, on a lone desert planet, an Atlas, piloted by a old bearded pilot staggers to a nearby cliff. The pilot quietly recaps what happened to each faction after the fall of the HPG, and how moot it was for the people fighting since everyone was killed off expect for him, "Old man Atlas". Even the clans have died off, due to an infectious virus that attacks the genetic codes of vat born warriors. The Atlas finally reaches the cliff and the man looks out with his one good eye, the other covered by a dirty patch and mutters..."Yes", He then overrides the fusion control of his Atlas and sheds one tear as he smacks the self-destruct on the battered Atlas.

The broken-down Atlas' fusion reactor spins up, then shuts down for the last time. The man, having closed his eyes for the end, now opens them in a panic and attempts to frantically restart the engine on the Atlas. "No..... It's not fair! They're all gone!.... THEY"RE ALL GONE!!!!!!" As the man screams and frantically hits buttons and switches, the bluff underneath the Atlas sags and crumbles dropping the Atlas into the abyss below.

THAT IS HOW BATTLETECH ENDS.

Strange, I thought more people knew the answer to this.

The official end of the BattleTech era can be traced to when the Marian Hegemony develops the anti-gravity tank, which will replace the BattleMech as the supreme armored fighting vehicle. With this technology they will conquer Terra and establish a new galactic empire. Over the course of many years they will colonize the galaxy and encounter many alien races. Things will go very well for them, until a particularly hostile race invades, at which point the empire will return to their Marian/Roman roots to repel the aliens. They will then elect a new Caesar and form the Terran Overlord Government.

There's actually quite a lot of FASA source material for the 69th Century, so clearly the BattleTech era ends sometime in the next 3000 years from the present point on the MWO timeline.

Renegade Legions???

Cool, I never new that was actually in the BT timeline, of course the only thing I new about it was that it was the pre-cursor rules set to Crimson Skies.

I like MW-DA... :( , at least the novels (yes, even the first ones with Texas Chainsaw Massacre a la MechWarrior

Nonetheless, lore ends for me, when that Jihad s***storm begins. I'm sure I wouldn't be annoyed by the idea of the Jihad, if there had actually been some novels covering the topic, but I haven't seen any. MW-DA is something completely different to me, as long as they don't close the time gap in a tasteful way...

There aren't any novels on the Age of War, the Star League and the early Succession Wars either. And at least the lack of Jihad-era novels is at least somewhat made up for by the many sourcebooks and short fiction there is covering it.

As for the future, I really havent done much reading past the Fedcom civil war and the Liao invasion of St Ives. I stayed away from the Jihad stuff as having been on the recieving end like many military people, not a fan of religious fanatical war, especially in my battletech hobby. The Dark Age stuff is a neat way to pull things back together and I look forward to seeing where the game universe goes afterward especially involving my favorite faction the Hanseatic League and a few of the other Periphery powers. Be neat to see them rise up out of the ashes faster than the major powers.

By all appearances the Hanseatic League is about to be on the receiving end of an invasion by the remaining Homeworld Clans. Hopefully they don't end up as yet-another-Clan-occupied-faction, since they are my favourite Deep Periphery faction as well. Maybe them recently managing to take down a Star Adder WarShip means there's some chance for the Hansa to survive.

In the end, Comstar releases a 200 foot tall Uban Mech bristling with LBXAC 60's that can jump between planets in 20 seconds or less.

Then there is a picnic.

Then Michael Bay gets involved.

]IIRC, the Tetatae have been declared to be 100% canonical... just so long as nobody ever refers to them in canon again.

Ah, yes, the classic Sarna quote:
"The Line Developer's official stance is that technically, the novel Far Country is fully canonical, as are the Tetatae featured in the story. However, it has also been made clear that sentient aliens are considered incompatible with the BattleTech aesthetics and that aliens, particularly the Tetatae, will not be revisited in the fiction. Further references to the Tetatae are deliberately avoided. Their homeworld appears to be beyond any area of space known or accessible to humankind; it was only ever reached twice by human JumpShips through accidential and fatal misjumps, and there is no known way to leave the system again. This conveniently keeps the Tetatae separated from the rest of the BattleTech universe for good."

If the "Line Developer" (No idea what that title actually means) hasn't yet changed, then we can rule out aliens as the perpetrators of the HPG blackout. Just sayin'.

I bet it was a 5-year-old kid who pulled out a fuse and bit it in half. Now nobody knows how to replace that very fuse and he destroyed the whole HPG network. Nice goin, champ.

Was there any official fiction on the survivors of Clan Mongoose?

Or maybe it's being "saved up" for a future story arc (like the 200+ Spartan IIs left over in Halo Wars).

3225 comes around and the universal situation is identical to 3025. The Succession Wars begin anew, without any of the horrible "outside" influences that ruined things the first time. Profit.

BUT COME ON!!!! Who doesn't want a mini with a chainsaw arm? Seriously, the dark ages happened because they wanted to sell their click-base mini's with chainsaw arms.

True story.

This is indeed, a true story.

The one constant in the BT/MW universe is that any unifying force will , sooner or later, be canceled out and things will reyurn to a more or less version of the Seccession Wars. one has only to look at the Star League, The Fedcom union, the clan invasion, the new Star League, The Jihad, and the Republic. Each arises and influences events for a while until something happens to reawaken the old rivialies and prejudices. As long as the universe can be kept in turmoil, there will be BT.
