I am not even bashing Bryan for not having a date at this point, I am sure he's dying to roll it out (because as I said they are losing money every day that they aren't). All I am saying is: don't hold your breath because they have no idea when it is coming out, which means it is not close.

However in the next couple months there are new games and content releases coming out that will take me away from here. Because those games will offer more than the same repetitive thing over and over. I really wish these guys could pull something out soon to make it worth staying, otherwise the clock it ticking.
I will play other games and wait for the one I want to be finished, but I have to feel like there is progress being made.

The great surprise of the launch event is that they managed to create a rather ugly PPT from already known facts and standards in these type of games? This wasn't there all the time since Open Beta? WTF!
My wallet is not only closed, this just added an additional layer of locks to it...

People don't want another map in that game, the way that game works is broken by alterations in environment, hence why the whole genre is that way, bad comparison dude, also league has put out huge amounts of content over it's years, simply mis information here.

for example if you are a merc corp working for 2 factions. you essentially own planets in both factions terrarory? how will that worK? or are merc corps limited to contracts from only 1 faction?
its a very very very early deisng
they relaly need to hammer it out
I agree with this - from a design perspective it seems very wooly, contradictory in some places and flat broken in others.
It's way over ambtious and in actuality can't work as presented.
I am extremely worried that Bryan 'joked' twice about his coders putting up resistance over community warfare implementation. He needs to really listen to them on this not say - as he did - that 'this idea put 4 engineers in a coma'. If there's one trueism in gamedev that is the coders will always win out on the argument as they are at the sharp end and they generally know what they are talking about.

If it were REALLY 6 months, I would be very happy right now. I'd sign for a 6 months wait. I just highly doubt we'll get anything more than phase 1 before the 6 months mark.
Exactly.
I will be very happy if they can even get the first 2 phases out in 6 months. They are not exactly good at keeping dates.

I dunno, I've been enjoying this game for about a year now, but watching this 'launch' event this past week has really made me lose faith with the leadership of this company. I just don't get a warm fuzzy on their follow-through ability and that's all that really matters.

Key things that don't quite make sense to me:
-Faction standing only accumulates. Play as a Kuritan loyalist (either merc or faction), fight Davion to max out Kurita standing, switch to Davion, fight Kurita... maintain Kuritan standing while grinding out davion standing. You would think the ISF in Kurita would take notice of this turncoat. :-)
-Flipping a front allows mercs to attack inner planets, but what happens if the front flips again against those mercs assaulting a planet inside the enemy zone? Do the mercs get to keep attacking, or keep ownership?
-Confirms the emphasis on mercs over faction players; the cool strategy and logistics will be for mercs only. I was expecting it, but somewhat disappointed.
-If the main benefit to CW is cheaper stuff, not quite sure it will be enough to interest people. I guess we will have a clearer idea when PGI works out the "rank table" of levels 1-60 to see what exactly the perks are.
Ya, the faction standing not decaying doesn't make any sense. I could see a "truely" merc corp only taking the highest paying contracts gain standing to all the Houses but any random mech warrior pilot that is running with one House then just switches to another House would surely be seen as a traitor and lose faction points to their original House.
I think he mentioned that there will be loyalist merc groups so you will only play for one House but still do the merc structure and logistics stuff.
I do agree that all the "nice" gameplay stuff is focued on the merc side. But, he did say that loyalists are the ones who places the contracts out for the mercs to play. And the loyalists are the ones who choose what front they want to fight. The mercs, I think, rarely get to choose who they get to attack but I may be looking into this too much.

You could argue that the elaboration on things such as "contracts" are new info but honestly, this is just a rehash of their original design goals for CW. I know they have been busy with UI2.0 and other... things... *cough*3PV*cough* but have they not had anyone even looking into refining the design of CW? No UI/art mockups?
Some might say no matter what we got, the community would find a way to complain. Yeah, to some extent I might agree, it is fairly obvious that there was barely anything new in this.
PS: I also liked an earlier comment about Star Citizen coming out before MWO gets CW. Disappointing, but actually looking possible.

Secondly, this information was delivered half a year too late. It would save many nerves to anyone had players heard this info then and been informed regularly.
Thirdly, we still have a very long way to see all this in game. As it seems to me, no less than a year to get planetary conquest. But I'd be glad to be mistaken.

Totally agree, same doubts here.
The very meaning of the word Loyalty is questioned by the fact you have to betray all factions, actually.. It's mind-thwarting...
Logic says you gotta loose loyalty points of one faction when fighting for another.
I want to fight for DC, or the mercs fighting for DC. Can't see any appeal in WD, and of course I'd never went to fight for Liao or Davion, or Steiner... And I won't.
They'd better think out something interesting for faction players and reward real loyalty.

CW is ultimately a large ladder/clan battles system with a market thrown in. That kind of stuff requires a framework which UI 2.0 will provide. It's not like we're talkin another 10 gigs to the client. As a result I don't think the coding work, especially for phase 1 which is just "guild listing" will take alot of time once the design framework (UI 2.0) is in place.
I got Phoenix coming up but won't spend any more money untill we see some real improvements though. That does not mean It's all doom and gloom for me on the other hand.

What has the code team been working on the last year? They have nothing put together for UI2.0 or CW, which are supposedly the 2 things holding all the development up.
Since we all know by now that the Art/HR/PR departments aren't the same as the coders/engineers, where is the work they've been doing? If they have nothing to show at this point in time but more promises of "within 30 days - 6 months max!" than you guys are all pretty much fukkt. Not me of course, cuz I stopped playing this steaming pile months ago.
PS Those of you who believe the timeline presented last night by PGI haven't been paying attention.
