Don't feel bad, I mistyped the thing while looking at the code in the video. It came from the Video about the MWO Comp Final.

Nothing important.

It used to be useful if you were reporting somebody (hiding in the game, teamkilling, etc.), but since you can do that directly in the game now, the match ID lost most of its relevance.

Its still used in competitive play, when reporting results of a match to the organizers.

It might be useful if you need to report a bug.

Does the "Cooldown" skill affect UACs in any way? Machine guns? Gauss rifles?

Yes to UAC and yes to Gauss. No to machine guns since machine guns are a constant stream instead of individual shots. RAC and flamers are also not affected by cooldown.

Is there an engagement range cap for the "Hit and run" award? Can you earn it sniping? I don't quite understand how it works and why sometimes I get it unexpectedly, and sometimes I can't get it when I try. I know it has to be at least 10 dmg dealt, and it will not be awarded if I receive more than 15 damage in return, but are there other factors?

And a 2nd Q: consider a clan omnimech some of whose omnipoints have weapon-specific quirks, e. g. laser range. Does this range quirk only affect the lasers mounted in this specific omnipod? Or does it affect the whole mech?

Yeah, the "engaged" status has some kind of range limit. Not sure how big, though.

quirks are always general, not limited to weapons mounted in certain places.

I do not think so. I got the reward for PPC hit on 500-600m.

It depends on what range. But I think so.

Read the official description here:

Piranha Games Inc. said:

A Hit and Run award is generated based off every engagement against an enemy 'Mech. Every point of damage dealt on an enemy counts for 1 point. However, every point of damage taken counts of -2 points. If the total damage taken during the engagement is greater than 15, the Hit and Run score is zeroed. If the score is greater than 10, the user gets a Hit and Run award!

Note that there is a 10 second period, starting with your first shot. If you fire within those 10 seconds, the timer resets and the countdown starts anew. So you must wait until you really get the reward. Sometimes, those 10 seconds seem like eternity.

It applies to all mounted weapons, i.e. to the whole OmniMech..

Hit and run is one of the more confusing rewards mechanically. But you shouldn't really pay too much attention to specific rewards. You'll get them naturally within a match, or you won't. It's not worth trying to adjust your playstyle around.

Well, I did get it eventually while actively trying, but in the process I dropped down from the very top of the tier 4 to the middle Posted Image

New accounts have a short period before they can post in other parts of the forum, to combat spam.

I can't remember how many days this limit is.

You have to get through your cadet phase first, aka play 25 matches

Well, it can. At one time, there were complaints about people creating alt accounts just to post junk. Maybe this was baseless, I don't know. I'm not sure when the forums were locked down to require 25 matches--maybe they always were (certainly since 2016 when the above linked announcement was made). Now of course alts are still permitted so they can still troll, but they can't be newly created accounts that haven't played 25 games at least. That's probably going to be something like 3 hours if they don't just yolo them all. Probably at least 1 hour if they do, given time searching and loading into a match.

I still quite do not understand where you are seeing the trolling.

He has just created his MWO account, played some games, visited the game forums. HIs only question is why he can not post in the three quarters of the forums, even though he is a member of the forums. I still quite can not see anything wrong with his question - other new players have asked this question before too.

He was not accusing THIS user, but adding to my explanation about why the rule exists. I said to prevent spam, he added that also trolls.
