Confusion regarding modules and mastering.

I took 3 Jagers to elite. When my first one got to 21500 exp I did the master module upgrade. However I haven't unlocked modules for this mech or any other. Do I need to do all 3 variants here too or am I missing something?

EDIT: I think I found it on a search. Need lots and lots of GXP, right?

You do not need to complete Master and get the extra module slot for any reason (other than unlocking that additional module slot, of course). Module slots can be used to install modules, which can be unlocked in the Pilot Lab for GXP, and then purchased and placed on a mech (for c-bills) in the modules tab of the mechlab. And yes, some of the modules do require a somewhat large amount of GXP to unlock.

You're right there, you have to first learn the modules in the Pilot tab, and then you can equip them (They are 'sharable') in the mechlab in the module tab.

How can I set my view to cockpit on default so I don't have to push F4 every time I start a game?

Go into the game's options menu, either by clicking on the button in the bottom left of the game client, or by hitting escape when actually in a match, and uncheck the "start in 3rd person" box in the bottom left corner.

I'm not sure this really belongs in New Player, but it is a short question, so...

Are consumables used up by equipping or activating? In other words, if I equip a Coolant Flush 9x9 (for example) but over the course of the match never have a moment where I need to activate it (or I get killed fast, hey, it happens), is it consumed or can I re-equip it?

It is only consumed on activation. You can keep it for the next match or move it to another mech.

Thank you, Jazz. That makes me a lot more willing to shell out 30k GXP to have it as a backup plan.

What was that group I heard mention of here on the forums that, if it exists in the game, would require players to have high loyalty with all of the factions?

What's the current official stance on weight matchmaking? Last info I have is from some interview where Bryan said something about "we are tightening the gap". That was about 2 months ago I think.
So really, is there any official info that is not totally vague? Cause now they got my attention...

Spoiler

EDIT: Thanks for showing me how I missed the obvious. I corrected the values (probably pushed a few wrong buttons, sorry).

Not to razz on PGI, but all official answers not slapped with Soon™ are still deliberately vague. The only non-vague ones are unofficial answers.

How exactly can a force whose maximum size of 1200 tons 12 mechs all Atlai = 1200. Possibly = 1785? So totally dismissing this part of the post.

Late August or so they turned up Weight Matching and increased wait to 3 min. It got ugly and they turned it back off. It seems like they turned it to a setting around half of what it was back in August.

I have to contest with part of this, at least. I've yet to purchase an Atlas at all, and in the efficiencies, I've racked up near 6k experience for the RS variant. Never owned one. Same for the Cent, Spider, and Dragon trial 'mechs.

Question of my own however. When selling a 'mech, the experience and efficiencies stay, but do you really have to strip all the gear off? I see there is a checkbox for item value, but that's hardly specific. If that's not checked, do you retain everything that was on the 'mech, or do you just keep the crit slot items?

You retain EVERYTHING, including excess armor. Trial mechs EARN XP, but don't benefit from any unlocked skills, period.

Yeah, that caught my attention too! He even links a pic of the end of game screen which fails to support his maths.

Done the math myself, it's 705 for his own team, sure... but the opposition was only 885. (I have NO idea where the frell he gets his figures from!).

To be fair, that's a 180 ton advantage to the opposition, but it ain't over 1k tons like he suggests!

Too blind to see the obvious; corrected. No idea how I got those numbers from the calculator.

Still, 25% more mass isn't anything to sneeze at when for most classes more weight = more combat ability.

It's not in game yet (and not likely to be in game anytime soon) but that would be the Wolf's Dragoons. They're inner sphere mercenaries who are secretly founded by and scouts for the clans.

No idea what it'll actually mean to be in the WD's. The Wolf's Dragoons have two exclusive mechs (the Firefly and Annihilator), so maybe they'll have cheaper/exclusive access to them.

Some people will do it just for the name recognition, just like some will aim to be in the Gray Death Legion or the Kell Hounds. These official "mercenary-factions" will likely include official camo patterns and colors as well as unit decals, just as the official well-known faction units will.

To clear things up a little bit. Team Tonnage can get unbalanced when both sides contain Premades. Weight matching doesn't occur for Premades so if Premade A decides to run 4 Jenners and Premade B runs an Assault lance there will be a significant weight mismatch.

The largest weight mismatch I have recorded was 260 tons and occurred exactly as described above. I was on the lighter team on Frozen City Conquest. We won by Kills not Conquest :)
