Just did. I put that upgrade on the Locust 3M, and atleast in the testing grounds, the locust is not going faster. I haven't been able to try it in an actual match though, since the internet connection is not very stable at the moment.

Speed Tweak doesn't work in the Testing Grounds, but it should work just fine when you drop into an actual match.

Yeah none of the major noticeable efficiencies take effect in the testing ground, its annoying really but an unfortunate fact

Oh! Okay. Nice to know that all my effort on the locust wasn't wasted.
Many thanks.

Just to make it complete:
All the pilot skills and most of the modules don't work in testing grounds. And yes you are allowed to question that name for this very reason.

@Denolven @Demax51

Yes, the modules and Pilot Skills do not work in Testing Grounds.

OK, fair enough, it is annoying.

There is however a really great reason for it!

You aren't connected to IGP servers when you are in Testing Grounds. The server is on your client and no... it doesn't actually know what skills and modules you have. Seriously, you think it does but it does not. No Clue! None!

When you click Launch the client asks the servers nicely if it could please load a Mech, with these skills, and these modules, with this config. If the Servers don't like the request they say nope GO AWAY! This is good! It prevents cheating!

Testing Grounds is Local to your machine and doesn't have this Server Authentication. Honestly, as annoying as it is I'm glad. For PGI to do it in a way that is as secure as just ignoring the "problem" would require serious effort that I'd rather they spend on UI2.0 or CW.

Yeah I know they don't like it - for a variety of reasons it aint gonna happen. ;)

But I only get to play online when I manage to hijack the internet from everyone in the building (long story short - wireless doesn't work in the building, and there is only one jack) so I can dream can't I?

I can only imagine the incompetence of the Network Engineers available in the Last American Frontier! ;)

Get me a plane ticket  I'll fix it!

The variety of reasons are in fact super wonderful awesome with BBQ Sauce so stop asking :D

The way the wiring was done when the building was first built - it would require (basically) rebuilding the whole thing to fix.
Not a "hard" fix, but an expensive one. :D
Makes the rent cheap though.

Excuses :D My house was built in 1912, I am hardwired in 4 rooms, with only one modem, and only one E-net cable visible.

Quite possibly, but as it is not 'my' house (as I do not personally own it) there is only so much modifying to it I can do without getting in a lot of trouble.

Mildly amused at 1912 House in Seattle... I'm East Coast in a house originally built in 1790 after the traitor Benedict Arnold burned the City of New London, Connecticut to the ground.

Can't imagine how screwed up things are in London, England.

Have you considered phone line networking? Never used it myself, but I've heard it's viable.

To clarify on the situation, and prevent more helpfull from bringing up various points.
(multiple PMs in addition to what is here  hadn't realized you guys wanted me playing more that badly)

The building I am in has a wireless router (which I could not use anyways, because my current tower does not have that functionality, and I do not have the income to change that currently) that has multiple jacks for running wired internet at the same time - but for a variety of reasons, which I shall decline to post here (badly mangled my explanation in my PM with ScJazz) the landlord does not like it plugged in often.

Suffice it to say, we are aware of various ways to improve the situation, but none of us find it so untenable that we are actively looking for ways to change it. (or rather, we have other priorities at the moment :D)

I appreciate people trying to help, but I was not really looking for help on the matter. :(

Hello Everybody!

A quick Question (and please don't lough to loud):

Q: How can one tell if a Mech is powered down or destroyed? (... if one doesn't have a BAP which is supposed to discover powered down Mechs)

Explanation:
Sometimes a destroyed Mech won't crash to the Ground but keeps standing on his Feet so that it does actually look like powered down. Do I have to shoot on any Mechs standing just to be sure? Isn't this outright silly? And won't there be a lot of laughter if I'm shooting on destroyed Mechs?

Greetings from Germany
Robert

It is seriously tricky, there is a stance that powered down mechs have, arms down, legs bent.

You will learn the look and feel sooner or later. It is just one of those skills that requires a bit of time to sort out.

Two newb questions:

1)In mechlab I see these dynamic structure slots and 'empty' slots. If I can choose wich one I should mount stuff primarily. I dont understand difference of these 2 slots.

2)Is there any XL engine in any overlords phoenix pack mechs?

Thanks already!
