LPLs, LL and ERLL are all in one "ghost heat group" and the limit is 2 before incurring penalties.

I purchased Overlord. 2 of the mechs are totally useless to my style of play. I was able to sell off the 2 non-(P)variants, but unable to do so with the xxx-x(P) variants. These are eating up 2 mech bays, causing longer mech bay load times, etc.
My question is this: Am I stuck with these forever (which will ensure that I never make another "blind purchase" from PGI again) or will I eventually be able to unload this dead weight in my mech bays? NOTE: When the Shadowhawk was released for general sale I tested trying to sell the (P) variant and was unable to do so (not that I wanted to, but as a test). So that's not the answer as to "when", if it ever occurs.

You're stuck with them, sorry

started playing today and having tons of fun already. (even though I explode a lot)
My aim is to build a more long-range sniper catapult and I saw a video on the Tube where the pilot had a little rectangular sniper-window in the center screen with fantastic zoom. I would love to have this !
Is it: Advanced Zoom, under vision modules ? I have enough CB's but cannot buy it.
I see a slot under pilot to unlock it (I assume), but after a night of playing I have 274GPX and it costs 5000GXP.
Is there a way to acquire this feat faster and/or a way to improve GXP-gain?
Thank you in advance for your help and happy hunting !

Yes, it's advanced zoom. You have to pay the 5000 GXP to unlock the module before you can spend the 6mm c-bills on the module itself.
You earn 5% GXP for all mech XP you earn.
The only way to get GXP faster is to convert "extra" mech XP by spending MC. Protip: only do this when it's on sale (once every 4-8 weeks it seems to me).

To add to Redshifts's post,
Since the bays came with the mechs, you didn't really get cheated. If anything, you get free bays for those you can sell. If you were to buy a hero mech for instance, you'd have to first buy the mech bay also. Also, there is no telling when something might get buffed or nerfed and one of those (P) mechs might become better (the locust will probably never be a good mech). If it makes you feel any better, the Founders mechs work the same way as does Sarah's Mech. And in the end, the Phoenix packages were a great deal compared to buying those things separately.

Remember to put the following into your Catapult: Minimum 250 rated engine, ideally 300 XL. Double heatsinks. Endo Steel structure upgrade optional depending on whether or not it would impede with loading more double heatsinks. AMS and AMS ammo to protect yourself (somewhat) from missiles. Then your choice of the following long range weapons: ER PPCs or Gauss Rifles for sniping. PPCs for sharp shooting (mid-range). ER Large Lasers or AC/2s for long range harassment. Good luck.
If you want some people to roll with, drop me a private message and I'll share Zhizhu's teamspeak.

The difference is small. Destroyed mechs have less "tension" than powered down ones. If you are not sure, put two alpha strikes into the cockpit, just to be on the safe side. Use this if you don't know where the cockpits are on the different mechs.

This has resulted in at least one hilarious moment where an incompetent newbie and a vet were both fleeing a pack of enemies, and the newbie got it's leg blasted by his buddy and left for the pack, who of course, all stopped to shoot up the slow guy.
It was then I realized that pugs often operate on zombie level strategy given the last time I saw this scenario was freaking Walking Dead.

And to add to all of the above, if loading time is what you're most concerned about:
- Join the club!
- Look forward to UI2.0 If the Devs have even an ounce of common sense to share between them, this is going to be one of the things that the rewrite will be optimising for ya!

Why is Koniving surviving an alpha strike in his 7 ERPPC Battlemaster?
A:
Maybe, just maybe, a dev optimized at the wrong end and used a byte to determine the heat damage, which means numbers above 256 start from 0 again. 7 ERPPC create 262 heat...
Koniving, are you sure that your "it removes a percentage of your health" attempt is correct? How many alphas did you do?
I suspect the above, because it's more likely than yet another arbitrary and different formula for situations that (supposedly) never happen

Come on PGI, it's 2013, not the 80s. Nowadays we can afford integers and names with more than 3 letters

I fired 3 alpha strikes, with the very first one being beyond 100% and overridden after firing 6 ER PPCs in chain fire. This one was done on Frozen City. If you fire while overridden it will shut you off instantly. I died by a spider. On Canyon, I succeeded in 2 alpha strikes before being completely obliterated by an enemy. The very first time you do it and boot up (not manually it must be on its own or you will die instantly), you have a cherry red CT. As in a machine gun bullet could kill you. Then I did it again and on frozen city again after that. Survived 'em all. Problem is it takes around 52 seconds to recover. Try surviving when enemies attack and you can't do anything.
If it was a solid number and not a percentage, there'd be no possible way to survive it multiple times. I literally died almost instantly from losing my armor and I was only being hit by MGs in the one case.
(Note that I had more, but on the heat simulator with 10 true DHS [250 engine] you will have to wait beyond 100 seconds to recover to 0% heat in Canyon.) http://keikun17.gith...heat_simulator/
Disclaimer: Running more than 4 PPCs and running anything that fires more than 2 PPCs at once is generally a bad idea. You should NOT do this unless you plan to get your butt handed to you after your first or second shot. Third if you're lucky or well protected.
