Can you rejoin if you restart MWO? It may just be a specific animation that's bombing it out.

I'd try turning the detail down first. Have a look at GMan's post here: http://www.nogutsnog...hp?topic=3003.0

Also, totally worth logging a support case. If MWO has crashed out, it will have produced a dump file. Attach that to an email to support@mwomercs.com . Then at least there's a chance it will get fixed.

Support@mwomercs.com is no longer a valid e-mail address.

For these issues I recommend technical@mwomercs.com, and feedback@mwomercs.com

There are no profile pics. This is your faction emblem. You can change that when you select a faction.

The rest, I answered in your thread.

Could you please post your build here using smurfy?

Which variant did you buy?

What are the problems you're having with the mech?

for the Firestarter, first you will most definitely want Double Heat Sinks, and probably an XL engine, the absolute minimum engine rating I would recommend for a Firestarter is a 250.

the Firestarter seems to work best as a harasser, you ideally want to be quite fast, make sure you have near max armor, and pick your fights.

early game ether hang back or scout, you most certainly do not want to attack a large group of enemywithout backup

try to come at the enemy from behind and aim at components which are already damaged. if you run headlong into the enemy team you will die, when the enemy start shooting back break off, try to stay near cover.
if in sight of the enemy DO NOT stop moving, and avoid running in a straight line.

unless you are mounting SPLs avoid fighting lights
know what you are up against, if the enemy have Streak SRMs then avoid.

if you want to use jumpjets 1 JJ is good to break a fall, if you want to be able to jump over reasonable sized obstacles take 4+.

the Firestarter is arguably the best Light Mech (although I personally prefer the Spider), but if it is your first Light it will take some getting used to.

Which FS9 variant?

Technically you can put a big AC in there, but you need a small engine. Advanced Zoom is a module, so it can be mounted on any mech. However, you need to unlock it from your pilot Skill trees.

Go to http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/ and make a replica of the build you have, so we can help you out with the build.

Fs9 stands for Firestarter. For variant, look at the designator after the fs9. The Firestarter is too light of a mech to adequately use any ballistics on other than mgs, the variants that can run mgs, which don't really count. Ballistics don't really work on any light mech. They are too heavy.

Urbie, and RVN-4X (which one had the AC 20?)

to avoid getting hurt from falls your Mech needs to hit the ground at less than a certain speed, I think it is 40 Meters per second for Lights, 35 for Mediums and 30 for Heavies and Assaults, although I am not certain about those numbers, there is a "falling speed" indicator under the right corner of the compass on the HUD

a good use for Jumpjets is to break a fall, gently pulse them to keep fall speed under control, or hold them on full for a few seconds before you will hit the ground if it is a higher fall.
If you fall high enough to reach damage causing speeds without Jumpjets unfortunately you will take leg damage.

as for the unit, look here:

If you are referring to trial mechs, when you start the game you can select trial battlemechs and use them without spending any money. The downside to trial mechs is that their build is fixed, and cannot be customized. Some trial mechs can be alright, but it would be wise to purchase a battlemech with c-bills when you can.

Once you earn enough c-bills (ingame currency) through playing matches, you can purchase a battlemech through the "store" option on the main menu, then select "battlemechs". from there, you can select "light", "medium", "heavy", and "assault" for weight category. the "champion" and "hero" categories feature mechs that cannot be purchased with money you earn ingame. In the shop, you will have regular mechs (which have their stock builds), champion mechs, and hero mechs.

Stock mechs are just regular battlemechs with no letters after their name (e.g. RVN-3L)

Champion mechs are designated with a (c) after the variant name, and are battlemechs with modified loadouts created by the community to help newer players get used to the game (e.g. RVN-3L (C)). They are often trial mechs, but you can only get them through spending real money. They offer an XP boost, which is not very useful once you use the mech for long enough.

Hero mechs are separate variants compared to the other battlemech chassis (e.g. RVN-H), and often have entirely different equipped hardpoints or hardpoint locations. They also can only be purchased with real money, much like champion mechs, but have a c-bill boost (which reduces the grind for c-bills for battlemechs or equipment).

Since you are a new player, it would be wise to not buy any battlemechs with c-bills until you have completed your first 25 matches. After you have completed 25 matches, you will have been awarded about 10 million c-bills through the achievement system in what is known as the "cadet bonus".

TL; DR: From the main screen, select "store", then "battlemechs", and finally choose the weight class you are looking for. Ignore hero and champion mechs for now, and don't spend any c-bills until you have played 25 matches for a full cadet bonus of ~ 10 million c-bills.

Are you using the collision geometry in this game or just some bitmap definitions, gradients, etc. ...?
