Ok, hopefully not too "noob" of a question, but...

I've been playing "test" mechs up til now and think I am ready to buy my first one.
However, if I have an arm shot off in battle, or something destroyed, do I need to buy a replacement and equip it before heading off to my next battle? Do I need to buy a new mech if it is destroyed? Or at least pay for repairs?

I'm just thinking of the mechanics of the classic BattleMech game.

You do not! Repairs/Reloads/Replacements don't cost C-Bills or anything.

As to the weapon module question, yes they upgrade immediately and foe free. This is true of all modules that have upgraded versions

When buying a mech, I was looking to buy a Raven as my first one, but see 4 variants of the raven, with one being a RL money putchase only (the one I want, with the 2 LG lasers). Can I buy a cheaper one with C-Bills and swap in the parts I want (like the 2 lasers and ECM) or do I get what I pay for with no option to upgrade?

And why the price differences/RL money only options?

Use http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/
The Raven with 2 ER large lasers, is that the RVN-3L (c )? The cbill version, the RVN-3L is exactly the same variant, but with a different loadout. You can totally change the loadout to match the (C ) variant without spending any real money. But it will take longer.

As for the cost difference? Cbill wise, the equipment in the 3L is more advanced/expensive than the 2X or the 4X (mainly, the XL engine). To get the most out of any light mech, you need an XL engine so lights are actually not cheap once you get all the gear in them to make them top notch lights.

(C ) Champion mechs give a 30% XP boost for every match (as well as Sarah's Jenner (S)). Hero mechs (Those with unique paint jobs and names), (F) Founder mechs, (P) Phoenix mechs, (I) Invasion mechs, (R ) Resistance mechs, (L) Loyalty mechs, and (G) Gold mechs (did I miss any?) give you a 30% cbill boost. Those you have to pay real money for. Hero mechs count as unique variants for leveling purposes. The rest have an equivalent standard variant that is identical in functionality (just drop the special letter designator) and so do NOT count as unique variants. E.g. A Raven 3L and a Raven 3L (C ) do not count as separate variants for leveling. In fact, they share the same skills so what you unlock in one would apply to all Raven 3L or 3L (C ) you may ever own.

Oh, and the Raven 3L is the only Raven capable of mounting ECM.

I'd recommend starting a thread about "new mech to purchase", but you already have your mind set on the Raven-3L variant.

Let me give you the quick and dirty of it.

Ravens are battlemech, battlemechs have specific hardpoints, and those can't be changed (for example, if the mech can only mount two energy hardpoints, then that's it, can't change that.).

In the case of the 3L, you seem to be talking about the RVN-3L(C), or the RVN-H (Huggin, the hero variant). They both cost real life money, and only the H is really unique.

The 3L(C) is identical to the 3L. The only difference is that the (C) is a community designed build for new players to use, and conveys a 30% C-Bill bonus. This means that you can buy a regular 3L, with it's stock equipment, and then upgrade it to whatever you want. All with C-Bills. You can even do the ECM + 2XERLLs set up on it.

Use the smurphy website to figure out the cost (Double Heatsinks are MANDATORY). The build you want should set you back around 14 million C-Bills.

Hello, How many space on the hardrive require the game ? It says 4gig everywhere, but the patcher download nearly 8 gigs here and it seem like it try to extract itself into a folder bigger then 8 gig... So I have not enough of 16 gig to install the game. I'd like to know how much space i need to install the game.

And if possible it would be great to know all this prior to go trough the download.

The patcher needs some serious optimization. It basically downloads the game, and then downloads all the patches, and then starts applying them, and overwriting files. Meaning the game can take up to 12 gigs+ on installation, but once everything is done, it will shrink down to less than that I believe the final size is around 9 Gigs.

It was 4 GB about 2 years ago. Those are probably old posts. The download itself is now 8 GB.

I'm not exactly new, as I was a Founder initially, but havne't played in like a year or more. In returning, I can't seem to find some of the 'mechs I had purchased. It's been a while, but I'm certain I had a lot more normal 'mechs that I had purchased (not trial 'mechs), and I _think_ but am not certain I had more premium 'mechs than the one Dragon Flame that is in my lab now. As it stands, I have just my Founder's Hunchie, a Cent, the Dragon Flame, and an Atlas. Where'd everything else go?

No idea. What other mechs did you have? Nothing was erased or reset since the beginning of Open Beta

There was a reset when the game went live. Since then, there had been no game resets. Switch the mech select screen tab to "Owned" and double check.

The full mech reset was from closed beta to open beta.
The stats were archived between open beta and launch, yes.

Stats were reset again around the time the Clans arrived ingame, the archived stats are from the start of open beta to the arrival of the Clans

Is there a way to quickly dismiss the CW reinforcements messages on the bottom right hand corner without clicking "Accept" and being bounced to the Faction area? I've found that if I make my dropdeck invalid I can click Accept without being redirected to the CW area.

It just seems like whenever I have to click "strip mech" or see some numbers a sh--load of message boxes pop up and block me.
