Hey guys! I'm quite new to MWO, so I do have a, maybe very silly, question:

I played BattleTech, since I was a kid. Yeah, the distant past, I know...
I also played Mechwarrior on PC. All the way from crescent hawk to MW:Mercs.
But, and here comes the question, does that help in any way to play MWO?

You can't.

Profile pictures are factions. In other words: its locked and shows publicity which faction you are.
But you can add a picture on the About me page. Go to profile > edit profile > edit about me.

Thus when people click on your name it will show a overview of your profile and the about me page.

The general opinion in New Player help seems to be the only silly question is the one not asked, so no problem there

Your prior experience with Battletech/Mechwarrior may give you a slight advantage over new players without but will not be that much help as MWO plays quite diferantly to past Mechwarrior games.

Hm, well, it seems, I can't play it, anyway. My good old laptop doesn't even meet the minimum system requirements.
Look's like I have to buy some new hardware. Damn, that, yeah, well, you get the picture...

I logged in for the 1st time in a +- year after updating everything. My Atlas and King Crab are not listed in my mechs. I had Atlas, Highlander and others for years with no problems now the are not In my list.

What happened ?

Has there been a wipe or something?

Is there a filter on that is showing just trial mechs?

There has not been a wipe since the end of closed beta about 3 years ago.

On the Mech select screen there are a number of filters including Clan/IS, trial/owned, and weight class, sometimes you get just the heading and have to expand it ( that stumped me for a good 10 seconds after the latest Mech select screen went in)

If none of those help then send an email to accounts@mwomercs.com explaining the issue.

If I purchase a camo skin or color using mc does it become available for all mechs I own? Or must I buy it again for each mech?

Colour yes, skin no.
Colours are a 1 time unlock, so if you pay for "hot rod black" you can use that on any Mech you own.
Skins or camoflage can be purchased in 2 ways, a 1 shot which is a single application to a single Mech, if you change the camo you loose it ( but you can still change colours whenever you want). Or unlock which perminantly unlocks it for all varients of a single chassis e.g. all Atlas varients or all Jenners. The one unlock costs about 10 times what the one shot does so the one shot is almost always better valueImportant note, when you buy a new camo scheme I does not include colours

Is an XL engine in a Firestarter a good idea? Been playing with a more or less stock champion and every game I've died to having a shoulder shot off

It's not a good idea, it's basically mandatory. Speed is essential in a light. Good players will shoot your legs more than your shoulders. Keep moving, twisting and spreading damage and ST kills will be fairly infrequent.

On the minimap we all have. How many by how many meters are the grids interchanged? Like is it 500x500 meters for one square? More? Less?

Nevermind, finally got a map where I can test it myself. Yes its 500x500 meters. Sorry~

Based on my very brief test, I went into testing ground on Frozen City and the new Caustic Valley, and yes both maps are 500m x 500m grids. So, I think we can assume that that is the case for all maps.

Unfortunately PGI do not usualy announce triam Mech changes ahead of time so I doubt that anyone outside of PGI knows that.

Yes, the grids are all standardized to the same dimensions across all maps (Early on, this was not true).

After a long, long time of not playing, like that poster up above (but longer), I have just logged in again and got log-in messages saying 'Account Injection:' for each of the mechs I owned back then. They are in the Select 'Mech list, but my Battlemech Inventory list is empty so I can't sell the ones I don't want anymore, leaving them taking up hanger space (I tried relogging, didn't do anything). Is this intended behaviour, or should I send an email to that accounts address?

There are certain variants that you can't sell. Typically the special edition, custom geometry ones you get for pre-ordering a pack or the loyalty 'mechs you get for being generally awesome. As far as I recall, you've been given a 'mech bay with each of those so you should at the very least be able to sell 4 'mechs to get your starting 4 free bays back. Just a matter of finding which ones.

One of them is my Founder Jenner, the other two are just regular ones I bought with C-Bills back then. But like I said, my Mech Inventory lists nothing so I'm not sure how else I can sell them.

The new LFG menu is it only for CW or can you use it to find a group for quick matches too?
