Wait... wait.. wait... you mean I may finally be able to nab that CDA-3F I missed just as I started playing!?!?!? I thought they swore they'd never sell Loyalty variants, if it turns out true that makes my day Posted Image

...come over here, you little jumping cicada, you!

My 3M and X-5 tend to put up better numbers than my 3F on average, but the 3F is FUN!!! It's almost like crossing a Cicada with a Spider.

they will never sell the loyalty variants but will be able to buy standard versions of those variants, you will never be able to buy the CDA-3F(L) but you will be able to buy the CDA-3F, does that make sense?

yes you will be able to get it soon tm in this case I suspect soon means 2-4 months

edit: they have announced those will be purchasable in July, but it sounds like they will go to the gift store first, so I expect Gift Store in July, MC in August, Cbills in September

Annoyingly 4 tons of jumpjets on the 3F gets you higher than 6 tons of jets on the SDR-5V

Yep, makes sense. While I always prefer the (C),(L), etc variants, I'll just be happy to get a normal 3-F jumpy-bug in the stable. May not be the most effective but as LadyD says.. gotta be fun :)

Thanks.

Great fun. Once the 3F goes for regular sell will make it lose part of the fun though. One of the funnest parts of it is dropping in solo queue and making newer pilots go "What the hell, how did a Cicada get all the way up there, they don't have jump jets??"

Put a decent engine in it, 2 ERPPCs or LPLs and max out jump jets and it makes a great pop tart sniper.

I've been using mine with MPLs. Though I'm thinking of swapping to ERPPCs.

If you want 2 PPCs or LPLs, a 265 is about as big as you can go on the engine without sacrificing JJs, but that's still 115 KPH after speed tweak. Even dropping down to 6 JJs to up engine size or add heat sinks still gives plenty of jump to the 3F.

2 ERPPCs on the 3F is a HOT build, but they are better for the pop tarting than the LPLs. The LPLs give you much less heat issues though and a better sustained DPS for it.

CDA-3F(L) LPLs

CDA-3F(L) ERPPCs

This is something I've wondered about for sometime.

Sometime in a battle you'll hear a short high pitched whine and see a flashing, like if someone was playing with the room lights.

What is causing this to happen?

(I've suspected narc but the hud doesn't show any.)

Are you running Radar Derp? If so, you might be describing what happens when somebody loses lock on you when running it.

To be honest, I am not sure if it is an actual loss of lock or just you disappearing off their sensors i.e. caught on sensors, empty triangle, duck out of sight, sensors lose you and you get the flash and blip.

There have been times when I have gotten that blip and it seemed that the enemy did not notice me which would be unlikely if there had been a target lock.

Would look it up if the search function was working correctly, but it has something to do with the enemy having you on radar, not lock, only the empty traingle, if i remember correctly.

So if you are running around with no enemy in sight and suddenly get the blip/flash you know you are lockable/visible for an enemy but he may not detected you yet.

When there is a flashing light in your cockpit (you can tell because the window frame flashes) it means that an enemy has seen your dorito and pressed R.

So which is it?
It happens when you get locked up or when the enemy lose lock on you?

The flashing light is when the enemy locks you. No idea about the chirp though.

I am pretty sure it is empty dorito.

Found the thread where we discussed it (german section of the forum).

There they thought that flash + sound = an enemy has Line of sight to you (red dorito)
Another sound = enemy looses lock on you.

Hope that helps soemhow.

We'd have to set up a private match to be 100% sure. If someone sees me in-game, I'm happy to experiment.

For Science.

Anyone care for a privat match to settle the question now?
I got premium time running (204 days remaining :) )

Well i guess not during the event though.

I have tested this in game, on Canyon Network using a Firestarter I ran around until people started shooting at me, then dropped off a canyon wall, every time I dropped down while under fire I got the flash and chirp, strongly suggesting the flash and chirp meant it was Radar Deprivation breaking the lock
