Does the placement of inner sphere jump jets affect the trajectory of your flight?

I placed two jjs in each torso and it seemed like my mech went forward more than up. I had trouble getting to the second level of the citadel on River City. I changed my loadout and put 2 jjs in each leg. It seemed to me as if it jumped up more than forward.

I was wondering if that was just in my head.

As far as I know... It doesn't matter where they are located as far as how they operate, but how many you have on your mech.

I could be completely wrong of course, but I've moved my jets around and seen no difference as far as I could tell.

I figured that I was just imagining the difference. Thank you for checking and confirming.

The game has no concept of 'lean' or thrust from specific locations. As such, you also cannot knock an enemy down or around by shooting them.

The game does have a concept of losing jumpjets and can happen while in mid jump. So make sure your jumpjets are in an area with a critical buffer Disposable equipment that is there just to soak up damage will protect your jumpjets.

Okay, the Night Gyr mech pattern up for grabs has lured me back into faction play (yech!). One game was sub-par even for me, because of losing all my head-up display after an eject. The one I just played had my second and fourth mechs spawn with no head-up display either. Not much I could contribute when my main weapons were ATMs and there was no reticle or grid map.

I asked about how to get the HUD back and got three different answers that didn't work. Any ideas? This and Siege are the primary reasons I don't care for FP.

The new button is F7.
Sound indication can help you make locks when you can't see it.

No Joy from F7... The first thing I tried was to run through the function keys. Next I tried ctrl + function, then alt + function (as far as alt + F4 where it killed the game... oops). Also tried ctrl+alt+F11 and repeated use of escape on the advice of players in game.

Is this some Microsoft thing, like with having to turn off Windows pointer precision so you can hit things? I use a Microsoft keyboard, so I checked to be sure F Lock was enabled, but I'm fairly sure I had this problem when I used something else too.

The old command is Right Shift + F11.

Check in the settings for whatever you might have accidentally changed it to.

If your keyboard uses those blue function keys where you got to press the stupid button before you actually use it.... that might be an issue. I couldn't get them to work right on a keyboard I had with them. Reassign the button to a standard letter.

I had a mission yesterday where I had this issue on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th mechs (shame as it was a good start), and I took the opportunity to set toggle UI to my 'T' key. It had no effect in game, but I'll see how it works today and get back to you. Thanks again for all the help.

The crazy thing is I had no problem the first day and a half until I ran out of ammo and ejected. Since then it's happening almost every game, which leads me to wonder if it's game software related.

Cool run or heat containment: Which is better on a 'mech running LL, Rac5, LRM10? (11 double heatsinks total) I've almost got it mastered and I want to control heat with the last 5 or 6 points.

Cool run. Heat containment only increases the amount of heat you can take before overheating, cool run improves the rate at which you shed it.

cool run makes you cool slightly faster, heat containment allows your Mech to take a few more points of heat before overheating.

assuming no heat related skills or quirks you should be able to sink 3.14 heat per second assuming 10 in engine "truedub" heat sinks and a single 1.4 DHS

if you are a DPS Mech then cool run is probably better as you may cool off maybe as much as half a second faster,
if you poke then hide to cool off heat containment may allow you to fire as much as 1 more shot with a single weapon before overheating, but it will take you longer to cool off as there is more heat to sink.

ether way the diferance will be neglegable

No joy from the in game UI toggle.

I just finished a match where I lost UI on the third mech when it spawned, and my reassigned 'T' key did nothing. Yet interestingly enough all the other keys 'work'. I reflexively gave a "gg" at end game which didn't display until the end screen appeared. So it took the commands, people would have seen the message, but I had no indication of that until the game was over. Also I get the usual sounds when doing things like 'show battle grid', just no visual.

Do other people have this nonsense in Faction Play? Is this the reason for all the AFKs I see?

I have heard about problems like this a few times before but it seems to be very uncommon, as in I have seen posts about it less than once a year uncommon.

if it keeps happening I have a few sugestions

if you are using the MWO Portal launcher click options (3 lines in upper left corner) and run MWO Repair tool

if using MWO through Steam go to Steam library, cithe click on Mechwarrior Online, choose properties, go to local files, "check integrity of local files.

if after doing that it is still playing up try installing the other version (MWO Portal or Steam depending on shich you are currently using)

if that does not work send an email to technical@mwomercs.com (the games technical support people) and include as much information on what is happening as possible, including your system specs, how you run MWO and a dxdiag (you can find information online about how to get that)

Thanks, that's all very useful to know. I had the problem let up for a day... no discernible reason, so I managed to get the event completed.

Hello, I'm returning from a "hiatus" and see that there is now a skill tree.
I've already experimented with it using 91 "historical" SP on a mech or three.

How much to respec?
Can I just change one or two nodes or do I have to respec the entire thing every time?

Thanks in advance for infoPosted Image

Recently had to check this.

Don't do the "Respec", just activate and deactivate a couple of nodes.

Reactivating a node costs 400 XP or GXP. Deactivating costs nothing. Unlocking a new node costs 800 XP or GXP + something like 45k cbills.

For now, only use your Historic SP on a mech. If you need more SP, then tap softly into your GSP... because once the GSP is gone... it is gone and HSP is locked to the mech already. So whenever you see HSP, use it first.

From what I understand if you "Respec", everything becomes locked again. I have no idea why this would even be an option. Just change which nodes are on and off.

Note you can safely turn nodes on and off without cost, if you do not "Save" before making the final selection.

Whatever nodes that are turned off when saved will cost you to reactivate. And you are only charged for nodes you turned on (or reactivated) since the last save.
