Perhaps two AC/10s and two UAC/5s might be a bit less of an issue? Two AC/10s and two LB10-x? Four LB-10X since they are not punished?

If he wanted to do LB-10Xs, there's another ANH - I believe 1P ? - quirked for them. I actually took that one and stuck 2xLB10 + UAC20 on it.

Quirked or not, the ghost heat they will endure is not worth it. You'd either have to chain fire them or pair fire them using a macro to provide strict control to their firing frequency as the ghost heat will practically obliterate you.

Depends on where you spend the rest, and if you have a big enough engine to make it worth it. The bigger the engine the bigger the gains... But there-in rests other issues. What weapons? What other skills are in play? What kind of engine? What playstyle?

My playstyle is direct fire support. My teams assault(s) move in then im there backing them up. Weapons so far have been mrm30s, laser vomit, some erppcs. Engines are the default ST280 so far. As of now my skills have been a near maxed survival tree 33/35 and 60 percent radar deprivation. Im just wondering if I should focus on operations or firepower before worrying about speed.

Firepower, specifically heat gen (cooldown is not that important considering what kinds of weapons you are using and your intended range) and from there under operations, get as much as you can under Cool Run and Heat Containment.

I could see some advantages in speed but these are not as important considering the role. I do recommend some in Kinetic Burst so branch right and absorb all that you can on the mobility tree. That way you can get to your top speed as quickly as possible from any stop.

Tournament Supporter Pack, its not available any more due to the year basically being at an end and the World Championship tournament having been won. There will be another one next year and what it basically is, is a lottery pool to fill up so that the champions can earn some cash prizes (supplied by the tournament supporters) and in return, events spam them with little tidbits throughout the year.

I don't really pay attention to quirks. :P

If my math is right, I should get 12,500,000 (12.5 mil) c-bills after all the cadet bonuses, plus the 5 mil and 200 from the academy and trolling Cpt Adams.

So 17.5 million and loose change, right? I'm budgeting a little, and checking my math. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the cadet bonus is 25 mil, not 12.5

Urban is correct, going through the achievements it comes out to 12.5 million from cadet bonuses.

Learned that the hard way. The ghost heat is real. I'm pair-firing them, but if I'm in the heat of a battle and need kill the enemy ASAP... you get it. Switched to 2xAC/10 + 2xRAC/5 temporarily, but UAC/5 would be at least as good if not better, I imagine.
(So far I'm scoring extremely poorly with the ANH, but I hope to improve in the future).

So far, out of three games with ANH-1A my best damage score is 260. A bit underwhelming after KGC and DWF, both of which are my most favorite mechs.

Yeah, I didn't pick it for its ballistic spammery but I'm sure you read why I picked it. The arm lasers and ballistics. The torso ones were superfluous so I put on some low/no heat solutions for some additional spammery. I am a frequent user of the + and o crossairs as separate entities.

Take this old Jagermech video

And maybe take a page from it? Twin UAC/5s and twin UAC/2s?
Twin AC/10s and AC/5s?
Whatever you use... set up a little macro to make it more intimidating...and to ease the heat since you'd be slowing down the actual firing rate of the weapons in the process.

Are there any particularly popular light and medium heroes? I have the Commando and Raven ones already, and I'm holding off on the Locust one until I'm actually good enough to pilot it well until its on sale *unconvincing cough* but I'm not quite sure what is in and what is out. I've seen a few wangs, and a couple of Centurion heroes too *awful rimshot* but not much else.

I don't own very many Hero mechs... Personally I own and enjoy the Huntsmen Hero. Very versatile mech, and being an omni you can change the hardpoints to anything any other Huntsmen can take.

Sadly, that is about where my experience seems to end. Jenner Oxide use to be considered good, but I haven't seen one around in some time. Wolfhound probably isn't bad, as it's a Wolfhound with ECM.

I will make note that any Clan Omni mech that is a hero typically is a reasonable choice, especially if you like any of the base variants of said mech. That's because you can change out all the pods to match almost any other mech of that chassis (CT pods excluded).

Sorry I couldn't be of much more help.

Its fine. I'm mostly just trying to figure out what is popular. Popular things, at least in MWO, tend to be popular for a reason, so its a decent gauge of what works and what doesn't. I'm looking at those Phoenix Hawk heroes on sale and I'm sure I'll get a Grid Iron down the line but otherwise I'm sort of clueless.

You're right that the Wolfhound does look pretty good. The only alternative for ECM at that weight is the 3X Raven which I have and is absolutely not cut out for fighting other mechs face to face, even if they're smaller.

... then again I have a bunch of Vindicators and Awesomes so maybe I just have weird tastes.

Warning, I haven't found the Grid Iron to be of much good. I'm sure someone does well in it, but I don't. Which is a little surprising as Hunchbacks tend to be good mechs otherwise...

Then again, half of what is being mentioned here about mechs is opinion based. So, depending upon whom you ask, you'll get different answers.

I'm seeing quite a few Hunchback-4Ps with an (S) suffix. Are those from an event of some kind or what? Doesn't match up with any kind of event.

I believe that the Halloween Trick or Treat 2017 bag event's final prize for collecting all loot bags possible (without bonus bags). Similar to this years Stocking Stuffer event has some grand prizes of a mech selection (though these ones lack the (S) designation and associated boosts).

I believe it was a Hunchback 4SP(S) or a Stormcrow Prime(S) as the big prizes then...

Try buying a mech for c-bills and running it first... saves $. For mediums, I like the Quarantine (Wolverine), which I run nearly stock, and Mishipeshu (Shadow Cat). I like jumpy, fast, maneuverable mechs. Quarantine is pretty tanky even with the XL because it has a full dead side; Shadow Cats are more fragile, but can dodge well.

Will there be an end date for being able to redeem the MechCon pattern? I haven't used any of mine from having the TSP because I'm still indecisive about what I want
