Greetings guys

I'm a new player of MWO
As of right now, I tried to login to the game but it says "Servers are currently undergoing maintenance blah blah.... "
but https://status.mwomercs.com/ shows that everything is online

Is this normal or is there something wrong with my PC? I've tried disabling firewall
Thanks

When this happens to me it’s usually because of an internet connectivity problem on my end.

Good hunting,
CFC Conky

Or likely a DNS routing issue. You can try to use altenative DNS servers.

That error occurs when your PC can't reach the server.

From your post, it can also mean that they have patched and are "testing" it. Server shows as green but it is still locked down.

They do not. The Gauss Charge skills increase the duration for which you can hold the Gauss Rifle at full charge without making a shot before it automatically discharges.

Current event,
https://mwomercs.com/events/341
G'day Mates Challenges
Bludger Challenge
"Earn 5000 Missile Damage"
I don't understand.
Is it how much I should take damage from an enemy of this type?
OR
Is it how much I should deal damage to an enemy of this type?

You need to DEAL damage to an enemy by using missiles for 5000 total damage.

Some of my mechs offer me to install double heatsinks, some offer to install std heatsinks.
It depends on what?
Could I install a STD heatsink on a mech with double heatsinks?
Or vice versa?

The type of heat sinks is set for the whole mech, you can't mix them. You can change it using a dropdown in the "Upgrades" box in the mechlab.
Excluding some very narrow special cases (energy boats that basically boat single heat sinks), Double Heat Sinks are the superior option.
Some of the older Inner Sphere chassis come with Singles and need to be upgraded to use Doubles.
Clan Omnimechs all come with Doubles and cannot change back to Singles.

It always costs 0.75 million C-Bills to switch from Doubles to Singles and 1.5 million C-Bills to switch from Singles to Doubles, even if you purchased that heat sink type on that mech before (the same rule applies - with different prices - to the structure type and armor type, BTW).

Is there a single IS/IIC chassis with 11 free crit slots in the arm?

Yes. I am thinking about the IS lbx 20.

No. The shoulder and upper arm actuators are mandatory and cannot be removed.

Maybe try Victor or bj for some arm mounted ac20. Might fit your taste. (Yen Lo if you are space rich).
Victor with ac20 and srm is in fact a really nice brawler.

Centurion AH and Enforcer 4P also can do it in arm. The Enforcer actually has some horizontal arm mobility with it.

left alt is by default MASC indeed. Maybe it's the auto-lock function of windows kicking in in the background?

Hi everyone, Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but I couldn't find an answer.

I'm a new player with absolutely nothing and looking to jump right in. If it is worth it I'd be fine buying a mech with real money. Should I put in 15 bucks for a hero mech of my favorite chassis (shadowcat)? Or is there another recommended path? I don't really have the time to grind for hours for my first mech. Thanks in advance Posted Image

It ain't worth actually. With a bit of patience and playtime you can grab hero mechs via ingame-rewards (get the MC-rewards and wait for hero-sales which happen very regularly atm). Most of decet meta-builds ain't hero mechs anyway ... so ye best hop into the cockpit and grind as much event rewards as ye can. Most of the time events grant some form of premium time doubling your money / exp income.

You should unterstand how MWO calculates your performance though, helps with the regular CBill/EXP-Grind a lot.

Have fun and see you on the battlefield.
