Sometimes i dont understand the score if game is lost. For ex, I made 623 damage, still it was only =.

That equal sign, as close as we can tell, is when your PSR rating for that drop falls around 0 PSR, unknown if rounded up/down or to the closest integer. Even with a down arrow, a player may be losing only 1 or 2 PSR points. And movement up/down is now a 50/50 split. From my games entered into that formula, usually 8-9 players move up, 1-2 may break even (=) while everyone else moves down, with.
As for Damage, damage only contributes approximately 45% of its damage to your MS, so that 623 damage equates to 280 MS pts, minus team damage.
With all of that said, do not worry about Tiers, or think of them as Green, Militia, Regular, Veteran and Elite, more or less, using BT terminology, and the higher in Tier you go, the better the players, or at least how to enhance their matchscores (dependent on one's school of thought) the the players are a mixed bag

Back in 2016, there was this +-1 tier spread around you in PUG. I guess its the same ?

SRMs have never been great to me as a primary weapon, other than paired with close range A/C / LBX.

They have had to spread that out at times because of smaller player pools. (along with mixing groups into solo QP)
They had it set to try for a +/-1 spread for X minutes, then widen gap for a bit.
Not sure where its at now.
Also, groups screw things up, as players at different Tiers dropping together... obviously someone is out of place. At one point it went with the 'lowest skilled tier'... but people complained about that, so not sure where it is now.

It applies to both varieties, just like having a bonus to "missile cooldown" applies to all types of that weapon.

What’s a decent Alpha to aim for by Mech weight class?
(By decent I mean something that’s playable and competitive by an average player rather than a 500 alpha Direwolf that explodes from heat when you fire once )
Thanks

You can have high dps low alpha mechs that are perfectly serviceable. Heck, my favourite mech I got my ace of spades in has a measly 35 point alpha.
Also, is your alpha strike a long beam or of varied range profiles? a mix of a ballistics and missiles? The ability to focus fire on specific components often trumps a high damage scattershot approach.
https://mwomercs.com...ting-thy-enemy/ goes over some build decisions in a bit of detail. I have a 112 point alpha direwolf in there that some consider a travesty due to it being a slow as heck redlining knife fighter.

I’m trying to take more of an interest in the mechanics this time around (and I’ve already improved over my pitiful performance 6/7 years ago).
What is in your linked thread now makes a lot more sense and it explains why my 54 alpha laser Vapor Eagle does less overall damage but more kills than my 36 alpha LBX/MG version (pin point vs splash damage)

You can cram a mech full of heavy lasers but do far less damage than lower-alpha builds because you spend most of your time cooling down, especially if you don't have good enough aim and judgement to make the most out of every shot.
Generally speaking lower-alpha higher-DPS builds are more forgiving of bad aim and judgement since you don't lose as much from taking a bad shot.

There have been a few, but very VERY rarely. Like I think the Wolverine Quarantine was available in an event.
There's been more events with special loyalty versions of non-hero variants with a c-bill bonus.

Once a year or so, usually. However, there are also events that reward Special mechs (which have a Hero-like C-Bill boost and a different default paint scheme) and if you're being frugal with your MC (not pissing away too much on cosmetics and ideally only grabbing them at 50% off, buying mechbays when they're 50% off etc), you're going to end up with a surplus to spend on hero mechs (obviously... buy at 50% off)
