Golden 'Mechs - if you meet one in the game - are identical as their standard models. The only difference is their golden colour and the letter (G) in their designation.

Is your rating adjustment at the end of the match a comparison of your damage output vs your teammates?

Example: I played a brawler on Alpine Peaks and was forced to wait as the teams sniped each other early on. Late game, I was finally able to flank and ended up with 3 kills, 1 KMDD, 208 damage in a won game... The red arrow still pointed down. It confused me because I have had games with 200 something damage with 2 kills and it went up.

So, it's based on match score, which is in itself heavily weighted towards damage. General rule is the four highest performers in the losing team go up, eight highest in the winning one.

Yes and no.

Your damage is about one half of your match score. If you do about 200 damage, this will be the basis of your 100 match score.

Your match score is compared with the match score of the remaining 23 players for the purpose of the determination of the PSR change. The players of the winning team get a small bonus. Usually, one or two players of the defeated team get the green arrow.

Thus, for the same match score you can earn the green arrow in one game and the red arrow in the next game, depending on if you won or lose and how the other players fared..

But the damage isnt ALL.
Once I did 600 damage , lost and got red arrow in tier 4.

It's like this: You did 600 damage and thus you earnt 300 match score. Okay, that's not bad. But sometimes it happens that you do 600 damage against one or two enemy 'Mechs then you die.

Some other player (in the same game) does 600 damage too, but he adds some additional rewards like killing blow, spotting, protected 'Mech, Savior kill, etc. and he ends up with a slightly better match score. This moves him to one of two or so spots that get the green arrow even in the defeated team.

The point is that while farming the damage is useful for boosting the score, the damage alone is often not enough to ensure the PSR rise..

Base armour values were changed. You can fix those mechs by first removing a bit of armour from side torsos or arms and then reallocating it however you wish.

oh yeah, it got bad, people were QUITE unreasonable toward the players who shelled out for them in game for a while. It got to the point where I bought the right shades of yellow to KINDA make a Hunchback 4G look gold. People raged on me too, even though there was no such thing as a golden hunchback. Crazy. The last time I saw a Golden 'Mech (Masakari, I think) was about a year ago.

One of the streamers I follow had a 'special guest' on his stream a couple of months ago, who brought out his golden mech for us to ogle a bit. It was ... garish.

I think that some people would buy a golden 'Mech - even now.

On the subject of Golden Mechs, I personally don't see the problem with them. If someone wants to support the game and have the disposable income, then I don't see why that should be an issue. Sure, I think $500 for a colored skin for a mech is a little much, but it all goes to keeping the game running. So, as they provide no benefit in game... I never got why people were upset with it.

Well, besides maybe jealousy or the "professionally discontent" wanting someone to pin more "blame" on for supporting PGI "a bad developer"... But those guys are still complaining about problems in the game from it's opening release, even though those issues have long been solved. So... Meh?

Just starting out and I have been searching but I can't figure out what affects view range where you can detect an enemy Mech. Like in general I know you need to be looking the right direction but sometimes I see enemy Mechs on a hill, I can shoot them but I don't get any sort of radar activity from them.

Also when watching other players play I see them using Heat Vision or Night vision a fair amount. For instance on play looked to the sky and saw a UAV and shot it, no radar just a blur he could see in the distance. How did he get that blur to show up?
