Am I a bad Lyran for not owning even a single Atlas? :)

It does betray your name a little, yeah.

Bad Steiner/Lyran? Nah. The Atlas was a famous 'Mech, but production of them around 3050 seemed rather slow, so no faction didn't own that many of them and the Lyrans weren't the only ones manufacturing them either.

Something I have never been able to tell, how do you know when your missile doors are open are closed? It seems to make no difference in anything no matter how many times I push the key I have set for it.

There is a small light indicator; Yellow for clsoed, green for open, red for destroyed. It's position varies depending on the mech.

Which mech are you pilotting? We can probably find you a screenshot with the exact location of the indicator. On the Catapult at least you can easily verify this visually when using 3rd person view (f4)

I mostly pilot the Daishi, or the Kintaro kto20 when I want to do a medium. The one daishi variant I use has 2 lrm 20's do lrm's have missle doors as well?

I've taken a bit of a break from the game so I'm a little cloudy on some stuff.

Ahh I found this most helpful thread finally http://mwomercs.com/...48#entry3057748

I don't think they could have made those lights any more difficult to distinguish from everything else in the cockpit.

most Mechs do not have missile doors, I think the only ones that do are the Centurion, Kintaro, Catapult and Stalker, hopefully someone will correct me if there are others.

That's correct, and no Clan mechs have any bay doors.

Question by an Inner-Spere pilot planning to get a clan 'mech for fun: Do clan omnipod-bonuses affect the whole mech, or just the component they're in? IE., the Nova Prime has a +5% energy weapon cooldown penalty for each arm, does this give the full Nova Prime a +10% penalty?

It's all cumulative; if one pod has +x% and you load two, it adds up. The quirks adjust stats for the whole chassis, not just it's specific location.

Multiple questions:

1. Ok ok, maybe I just never realized, but why the hell does an LB10 cost more than ANY other ballistic weapon. 800,000? Seriously?

2. When a desync happens, even when there are no other mechs around me to impede my de-sync'd movement, why does my mech jump places when the desync ends? We have no dynamic elements on maps that would prevent me from moving around any more than if I were in training grounds by myself. Don't get it

3. Is the fact that PGI is also IGP backwards purely a coincidence, or are they two companies owned by the same people?

4. Why is the PGI logo a cattle skull thing, but called Piranha games.

It's the most modern weapon currently available to IS 'Mechs and is originally able to use both LB cluster rounds as well as AC standard ammunition. The ability to swith ammo is planned and will likely be introduced for both IS and Clans at the same time in the next few mayor patches.

The server has full authority over the position of your 'Mech, weapons fire and movement. To reduce stuttering, the client predicts locally what the server should be recieving, but will correct itself when the server sends different values. The jumping is caused by the server having calculated a different position due to the missing input from you as the player, as caused by the desync, and the client correcting itself accordingly.

RE getting MWO to work after reinstalling Windows, without downloading it again. Thanks for your replys, Ive got it going again :D , sorry for my slow reply.

I don't think the repair tool can fix registry issues or missing DLLs, it's for checking and fixing the game's compressed data files.

also if you reinstalled windows, you may be missing functonality like Direct X 9c, .NET framework, etc which MWO needs but does not include.

Can you specify which error you're having?

You were dead right Redshift B) and you got me going in the right direction. Full error was along the lines of: "msvcp100.dll is missing, try reinstalling the program". As you suggested msvcp100.dll is part of .NET framework so I just had to install that from http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=5555 . Thank you for your help.

Just to come back to this briefly, you might (might!) get away with installing the patcher and running a repair. Depends on how clever it is (or how clever it is trying to be, compared to how clever it actually is).

Let us know how it works out, be useful for the future if it works.

Cheers for reply. I tried repair tool but it didnt pick up that I was missing .NET framework, I guess because its a windows component rather than MWO component.

3. It's coincidence.

4. My thought is it refers to the old (nonsense) belief that a school of piranhas would strip a cow in a matter of seconds.

Quick question guys.

Regarding Clan 'Mechs, do we need to buy 3 variants of the same 'Mech to Master it (like it happens in IS 'Mechs) or can we do that with just one 'Mech and changing around the Omnipods?

Clan mechs are the same as IS mechs when it comes to skills levelling.

The mech you're driving is considered to be the CT omni-pod type. So if you take a XXX-A chassis, strip all the pods off (except the CT, which you can't change) and put all XXX-B pods on, you will still be driving an XXX-A for XP purposes (you'll also appear to be driving an XXX-A according to the start and end of match screens).

tl;dr yes

Yep, still need 3. Will be pricy. wih an IS mech you can defer some of the cost with one engine.
