A closely related question to this:

Does AMS make any sense on an ECM mech?

I recently picked up my first ECM mech, the Kitfox C, which also comes with that impressive triple-AMS array. I like the idea of providing that ECM/AMS umbrella (I generally play in an "assault escort" role, so I tend to stick with the main group). I've always religiously equipped AMS on my mechs, but in my first few games with that ECM mech, I've found that the AMS array doesn't actually activate very often.

i personally use 1 ams and 0.5 ammo on my kit foxes, it rarely activates but sometimes it does

I'd say AMS on an ECM mech is a waste. Another heat sink or MLaser would probably serve you better. When you say things like "rarely activates", that tells me you've got wasted tonnage. A heat sink would activate every single match, as would another weapon.

I use all 3 AMS with 4 tonnes of ammo, the AMS range and overload modules, and I have used all of it several times (I used to run with 6 tonnes and and even used all 6 tonnes a few times), on the other hand I can go 5 matches in a row barely using any AMS ammo, unfortunately it is all down to personal preference.

I will say if you are in a group with a few assaults your ECM and AMS can be of great help, and will usualy be appreciated. Just bear in mind that is a teamwork build, it can be of great help to your team but will not get you personally much in the way of match rewards

Yeah, I basically did a few drops with the stock KFX-C (ECM and 3xAMS). I felt pretty good about myself, as probably the best team player ever, and just waited for my bada** AMS array to light up the sky ... which, however, never really happened! Then I started to feel increasingly puzzled about the value of hauling around 5 tons of AMS gear.

I dropped the AMS's for now and added a few heat sinks to keep those ER-ML's firing.

(I don't mind being the guy doing the "invisible work", once in a while. I have other mechs in which I get to feel good about my K/D ratios and such.)

not a good logic
i rarely use all my mg ammo, does it mean i should drop 1/3-2/3 of it? obviously it doesn't because sometimes i use it all

Cauldron Born/Ebon Jaguar 65tons, 81kph, 30t and 33 crits space (28.5tons with full armor)

The Cauldron born will be near the top of the heavies using dual Gauss builds with the 28-30 tons, but the hardpoints are not as high as the Jaegermechs arms.
It also has lots of hardpoints giving it the ability to mimic mechs like the Marauder or Cestus (for us old-school fans).

Do not forget you can switch ECM mode to suppress enemy ECM. Then 3xAMS will be very useful.

Question:

Do all clan prime variants give bonus Cbills?

I was under the impression that they do, and I rarely look at the itemized breakdown of my winnings after a match. I have seen the mentioned chassis bonus while piloting my DW which is an invasion variant but on my TBR Prime that I bought from the mechlab I see no specific bonus.

What gives?

Only Invasion primes give the bonus. There are no CB bonus mechs that can be bought with space bucks, only greenbacks.

so i decided to Play around with mech loadout customization (i exchanged weapons and reassigned armor plates) today and somehow it cant save anything i do, even tried the custom loadout it had before and all i get is *an error occured while saving*
oh and th new stuff i intended to install on it magically landed in my inventory without cost and without being equippable to the mech wtf just happened?
edit:seems i just got Buggy,restarting the game fixed it

You might have experienced a hiccup, with swapping gear on your loadout (something stayed and stacked improperly). It can happen if you make one too many changes without saving in between changes.

The first workaround I suggest trying is strip equipment (and maybe armor if you see an error there), to see if any errors clear. If that works, then you are good to go.

If you still see an error, log out and log back in. I would close down the client and restart the game, so you could also try that.

If I have an ECM in my left torso and a BAP in the CT, and my left torso is lost, I get back the counter-ECM function of my BAP?

Clanmech leveling question:

On Clan mechs that boat ERML, is it worth it to drop 1 ERML and use an AP?

Reasoning: less heat before double basics and rewards from BAP/AP

Im power leveling my crows...damn. Im hot and kinda terrible with them. NOT OP in my hands.

Don't bother with an Active Probe on a laser boat - the probe is best used with Streak SRMs.

You need to strike a balance with damage and heat output. In-game a good rule of thumb is have heat efficiency as close to 1.4 as possible. If you do, you have a sustainable amount of heat endurance for a laser boat.

Also for a laser boat, a Heat Sink is a better investment if you have the crit slots. So there can be some builds that only have one ton and one slot or two tons and two crits on a build, where a TC1 and/or the AP could be useful filler.

I personally like AP since it can counter ECM.

Also make separate groups for your lasers so you can sustain say two lasers when riding high heat when you need to.
