If IS pilots would follow this formula, they will save themselves a lot of frustration when they have this shiny new mech and no money to upgrade it. Otherwise some will start ranting about how bad a mech it is. All stock IS mechs are bad when matched against leveled and upgraded mechs, Clan or IS.

Or just run the "bad" 'mech for a while. You might learn something while you earn your space bucks.

I actually did some math on this recently for one of our pilots who was very upset by how "expensive" clan mechs were. The fact is that when you break down all the hidden costs in IS mechs, especially the Lights and Mediums, you find that it's not really that much different. Yes, Clan mechs are more expensive, but the difference is 15% or less once all the upgrades are taken into account.

What's up with the servers PGI is using? I'm downloading the latest patch, and seeing the kind of download speeds which I don't recall dealing with since sometime last millennium.

PGI: I dearly love you for making this wonderful game, but this is really not acceptable.

I just logged in for the first time since Tukayyid...and got my reward Banshee. I was completely surprised to see that it has no engine...no weapons, no nothing. It's not battle-ready. Is that typical of reward mechs? The Stormcrow I won before was ready to go, but it was a Clan mech.

No, it should have come with the champion build.

I think bad arcade kitty's point is you do not have to pay for an XL engine 3 times to elite the chassis when playing IS which you do with the Clan Mechs, that means, unless you decide to purchase a seperate XL engine for each Mec,h elating an IS Chassis which you want to use the XL Engines with will often work out less expensive than the Clan chassis because you can share the engine between variants potentially saving 8+ million cbills per chassis.

however I do agree that there is not usualy much difference between the price of getting a Clan Mech ready for battle compared to an IS Mech, and in many cases the IS Mech will be as expensive if not more, and I think the extra £3.33 per variant in a Clan preorder pack is offset by the 7+ (assuming you want an XL engine, DHS and Endo) hours income you are not having to spend earning cbills to pay for the upgrades

That only applies to public matches. In CW, you WILL need to buy multiple engines if you want to run more than one variant in your deck (for example, 2 TDRs. Can't use one engine to power both)

Actually, IS lights tend to get more expensive than clan lights, simply because 9 times out of 10, they can mount some seriously big XL engines in there. The KFX runs a 180. Compare it to a Spider running a max engine (other than the 5V which has ridiculous cap), and you'll clearly see that spider costing upwards of 9 mil, and that's the cheapest of the spiders While the KFX will cost around 6 Mil.

Whats a good mech to get the hang of using a lot of lasers, atm I'm to reliant on missiles both long range and short range.

Thunderbolts, Grasshoppers, most Stalkers, Stormcrows, Timber Wolves, Hellbringers.

If you're feeling particularly adventurous, Firestarters, Jenners, Blackjacks, Hunchbacks.

Banditman's list is a pretty good place to start. I would like to add Commandos to the "Adventurous" section, along with Locusts.

If you want hard mode for energy weapons, then look no further than the Wolverine 6K. It only has 5 energy hardpoints. 4 in the Right arm, and one in the head. Lose that arm, lose the entire match.

The 6K also doubles as a roadster with it's 375 engine cap. So good for practicing sharp turns, and all around race car driving skills.

Short Question

Is there a way to disable 3 logo cinematics which are played when the game starts?

I spam the ESC key, it seems to be the most consistent at bypassing the start up animation.

A pair of questions regarding Clan Wave 3.

If I have initially purchased Cauldron-born package to get early adopter rewards for mechs included, and much later upgraded to Gladiator package (to get regular 3 variants of Executioner) - will it make me no longer eligible for EA variants of Arctic Cheetah, Shadow Cat and Ebon Jaguar? The line in FAQ regarding upgrading collections confuses me and I don't get what it should mean.
And should my profile->preorders page show that I will receive EA variants if I'm eligible for them?

If you pruchase any package now, you are eligible for EA rewarwards. Period. A lot of people buy the lowest package to secure timed rewards and then upgrade as they can afford.

Thanks. But what about preorders page? Should there be a notification about EA rewards or this is something that only PGI employer can confirm?
I just want to be sure because I sent a message to support regarding this and 5 days have already passed with no answer...

If it's not on there, then they must just not list those extra rewards.
Emails from support are slow these days. Sometimes very slow.
You probably won't get the extra variants bonus for mechs you didn't purchase before that deadline. That's how it worked last time.

Are you going to have even more useless game engine for this game? It is really horrible piece of crap. Disconnecting, all the time repair needs, hefty on hw. Really rubbish work :/
