Determines who you fight for and against in CW. As to the second part, that is entirely up to you.

To add:
Since CW is still in a Beta state, don't select permanent. You will have to pay a penalty to switch if you do. The other contract lengths are 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days. At the end of the duration, you are free to pick another faction. Or you can switch during a contract but you have to pay a penalty to break one.

This should help you decide which one to join:

Question: I can´t see the guns mounted to my Jeagers arms. They are there, but i can only see them in the corners of my screen when i aim far down. FOV and my game-resolution are not the problem, i´ve played with the values. I want to see my guns :)

You might try 'Free Look' (Default is Left CTRL IIRC). That lets you move your 'head' around the cockpit. Also, some of the barrels are shorter than they used to be, so you might not be able to physically see the weapons as they don't stick out far enough.

I´ve seen videos where the Gauss is visible on both sides of the cockpit. I can´t see my Gauss unless i look far down and then all i see is a tiny bit of them in the cornes of my screen .. sadly :/

It's your FOV then (coupled with your screen resolution.)

I think this is because the barrels of all guns on the Jagermech were drastically shortened about 2 months ago, so if a video/screenshot was made before the shortened barrels then you would be able to see the full sized Gauss barrels.

I have a solution for you and two possible avenues to approach it.
Option 1: Try this first.
  • Go into your MWO installation/game folder.
    • Mine is: E:\Games\MWO\MechWarrior Online
  • Create a new file
    • NOTEPAD file
  • Open the notepad file and type in CL_FOV=90
  • Save the file as "User.CFG" and type "*.* Any"
    • Congrats, you're now leaning FAR back in your chair!
  • Start MWO. Enter testing ground. Confirm that you're now tripping out.
    • If this hasn't worked, then try route 2.
Route 2: Try only if the first route has failed you.

These instructions assume Windows 7 and that you have an address bar you can type into.
  • Open Windows Explorer
  • In the address bar type: %AppData%
    • You will now be in: C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming
  • Click USERNAMEHERE on the address bar (or delete everything after USERNAMEHERE).
    • You are now at C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\
  • Click "Saved Games"
  • Click "Mechwarrior Online" or whatever you have it called.
Good luck!

(Also if it still has not worked: Right click User.cfg and choose properties. Is it a "CFG" file, or does it still think it is a "TXT" file? If it thinks it is a TXT file, you didn't save it as type "*.* Any")

Sorry; didn't realize you already tried this. :(
Sad to hear the weapons aren't all that visible anymore. v.v;

Hello,

Let me ask you guys a strange question. Sometimes I watch mech videos on yt, and due to filtering last year I think I found this thing. I played long time ago and then I had break, but I remember the effect of iron-melting when hit with laser. I presume it was removed from game or I missed something in options?

I switch it off so, I don't get confused...Apparently PGI said before it is client side only.. So even if made the target glow like the sun.. It doesn't mean you hitting him.. For high ping players.

On some machines, turning off damage glow can provide a big performance boost.

I don't know myself, but I would imagine so. At least particle hits and explosions are verified by the server now.

Weird, I can't turn on this option, it is grayed out. I'm having no big problems with performance when I mix high with very high, though it goes something like 45fps avg. Ok, solved, option unavailable when playing:)

I have damage glow turned on so that I can see if the enemy is getting hit by any of my buddies as well. Also, I think it looks really, really cool.

Short question:

Installing radar deprivation module on ECM light.

Is it noob or pro?

if your Light Mech has ECM the enemy will have trouble getting the lock in the first place, however Radar deprivation will still cause the lock to break immediately on breaking line of sight unless you are NARCed or within range of a UAV.

many people think Radar deprivation is essential, I have tried it and do not think it helps much so only own 1 which I fitted to my Ember and have not bothered moving to another Mech.

The decision is all down to personal preference
