is there a list of current training units in the forums or is it a search crap shoot to find training units?

There is no specific training units. There are units that take in new pilots though. That you would have to approach the individual units to find out.

Look in the Community Warfare groups, be it Merc, Inner Sphere or Clan. You should find some unit information, if they posted a recruitment thread there that is.

If you are interested, the Seraphim are always looking for new members. We have a rather strict code of honor/conduct, but the people in the unit are amazing to play with. A lot of good people.

I believe this is our current recruitment thread? If you are interested of course. There are a lot of good units out there. Just a matter of finding the right one for you. Of course, you can also always remain a solo, and never join a unit as well. The choice is always yours to make.

Not to impune the Seraphim any, they're fun folk, I do believe there's a specific training unit in the new player help section.

Can't say anything for nor against this, as I have not heard about it until now. Sounds like it's worth a good look into for a new player interested in units.

Hmm been loving the LB 10-X what mechs are more suited to using it. (from the IS side)

KGC is pretty good. I'm using one with 4MG, 2LB10, and some SRM. It's a full-auto shotgun up close.

Also, the DDC Atlas can carry 2 and ECM, which while less useful than previously, is still pretty cool.

Having mastered my Timberwolf, I'm currently trying to decide on what 'Mech to get next...

Been eyeing the Storm Crow and the Hellbringer on Clan side. For IS, I might go with the Thunderbolts as I already got one out of the Steam Heavy Performance Pack. CW isn't a priority for me so I don't feel like I need to commit to Clan tech 100%, but that's my preference, still.

Out of the three, which one would y'all consider a worthwhile pick-up?

Sorry, for a non-constructive answer, but: "All three" would be the honest answer to your question. All three are worthwhile.
But I would suggest go for the Thunderbolts first, as you already got one :)

D. All of the above.

All the mechs you mentioned are really good.

If you have an (S) Thunderbolt (special +30% C-bill boosting version) from your steam purchase, then I probably would recommend Thunderbolts. Get that (S) variant mastered so it's boost doesn't go to waste. You already own one of them, might as well get the last two needed, right?

"Any of the Above" is a perfectly valid answer. Thunderbolt and Hellbringer are extremely good mechs, no doubt. And yeah, I noticed you've got the special TDR, but ... . After Timber, the answer must necessarily be the Stormcrow.

The Stormcrow remains borderline OP if built correctly, if not still outright OP, right beside the Timber. It's also ridiculously versatile.

While levelling it and grinding for another chassis after mastering it, you can run so many different good or better builds that your 3 Crows feel like 9 or more (definitely more) mechs. Do it next.

Go Crow, Bro. Regret Nothing™ ;)

Can't beat that slogan. Versatility is also something I'd get behind. Haven't played with missiles a lot and mixing it up with those Streak SRMs seems fun ;)

Erm, different question:
Is there any point to keeping my TBR-A and TBR-D? Stripped them of weapons and OmniPods after mastering the TBR-CS. That's a quick ten million C-Bills collecting dust and blocking MechBays.

Yes there is. Different builds, or even identical builds. 10 million sounds really tempting, but you can get that money anyways. Each mech will set you back 15 million if you want to re-acquire it. Running two TBRs in your CW deck is also another reason.

Does salvage still work such that non damaged internals give some percentage? Specifically, does legging clan mechs provide more salvage since the XLs are spared.

In the heat of battle, salvage is not important. However, that is how the salvage bonus is calculated. I don't know about the maths but with 12 enemy mechs, it would seem to be a small percentage of the value of equipment on any one mech. Of course that's divided amongst your 12 teammates too.

If you're primarily concerned with mechbay management, then the answer is not to sell more than one of your CT-laser variants right away. Iraqi Walker is correct, that there are lots of different builds to be had, and it's more expensive to buy it twice.

When/if you get around to CW, 2 Timbers is good to have available, for stacking them, for different builds, whatever ;). 3 is impossible except with big tonnage caps, like the ones we currently have.

Balance passes can change things considerably. Once upon a time, the TBR-S CT was considered even more useless than the Prime's. Times change, and it will be considerably more expensive to buy those back after having sold them, should they become mandatory inventory somehow.

If you sell one, make sure you strip everything off of it first. Again, better (less expensive) to have the parts available for a new build, than to have to grind for and pay for them all over again.

Something to consider concerning mechbays: make sure to play during all of the events like the recently concluded stocking stuffer and Trick or Treat events. MC is awarded regularly. I collected nearly 400 mc last event which can be used to purchase additional mechbays. As Virlutris mentioned, playing CW will reward you with extra mechbays as you level up within a given faction. You can farm the various factions to collect mechbays from each one.

In the wake of the AC2 and UAC2 getting changed to have the same crit-seeking bonuses as the LB2-X, is there any point using the LB2-X?
