Thanks for the update. I had a few thoughts though.
1. Concerning the number of mechs. A RL friend of mine has had the chance to try the beta. He has said that his #1 concern about MWO is the low number of mechs. While I have not played it myself (waiting for my own beta invite), I have to agree. Including some varients is not good enough. This is battletech we are talking about one of the key features of the setting is the huge number of playable mechs to choose from. Please try to get as many chassies as you can into the game by launch.
2. What ever happened to the 'unseen' stuff? The FAQ says "Look forward to a future announcement." But as far as I am aware, there has not yet been any such announcement. Now that we are getting closer to launch, could you clarify a little? Are the unseen mechs something that's being worked on, are they on the 'maybe someday' list, or are they completely out of the question? Personally I was hoping to see at least one or two of them make it in by launch. Considering how cool you have made mechs like the Hunchback look, I would love to see your artistic design of the pheonix hawk or marauder.
3. The system specs are awfully high. But I am not that surprised. I kind of expected it when I saw this game is running on the Cry engine of all things. That's pretty much a given that you need a high end gaming PC to run this even on lower settings. This is no problem for my PC, but I expect a lot of my friends are going to have to do some hefty upgrading before they will be able to play this. I kind of wish you had used a more system friendly game engine, so that the game would have been more accessible to people. I expect the general opinion of MWO at launch will be: "It's free! It's awsome! But you can't run it!"
4. The founders package I am still not completely clear about.
a. For $60 I can get $80 of in-game money. But I have no idea how valuable that is. Is that C-bills? Is $80 enough to buy an Atlas?
b. What exactly is the deal with the founders mechs? Do we get all four, or do we choose just one? What if we don't like the one we choose? What is this about a lifetime C-bill bonus? Does this bonus only apply to when we pilot that particular mech? Again, what if we end up not liking that mech? Are these founders mechs limited to the blue/white/yellow paint job that is in all the pictures, or will we be able to customize it? Are the Founders mechs a unique varient, or just a different graphic applied to a commonly available varient?
c. All of this founders stuff is supposed to be available starting July 17 August 7. Does this mean that there will not be any 'beta character wipes' after that date, even though that date apparently falls into the Closed Beta period? It would suck to buy stuff with my $80 only to lose those items when open beta or official launch begins.
@Synra
1. Your friend breaking NDA? Cool.
2. There will be ~40ish mechs when open beta comes around
3. No they really aren't... The minimum specs are from a computer which was good ~5 years ago. I know that because I had one of those computers. E4400 + 8800GT, in 2007. You can buy that "recommended pc" for $300 today.
4. We will all know what's EXACTLY in it on Tuesday.
a) "$80 in-game money" = What you'd get for $80 when the game has launched. Atlas wont cost real money, it will cost c-bills which you get through playing the game.
We'll know more on Tuesday.
c) Yes, they've already said that after the Operation: Inception(When Founder's Packages get to play) There will be no wipes after that, meaning you wont loose the stuff you've used actual money(founder's package money) to purchase.
