Edit to Whatzituyah:

It sounds like you're trying to sound super intelligent or you're speaking Shakespearian, but you aren't making clear statements. What are you trying to say, that mechs can be one-shotted? I've only had that happen once, when I was in an Atlas and I got my head clean shot off by like 6 mechs (killed by Jager) on the other side of the D4-D5 pass in Crimson Straits. That, I had to hand to them for their nice marksmanship. Insta-death from 99% to death before I could fire my weapons and push with the team. We lost that match just because of their team's nice shot there. And yes we have unbalanced mechs because of shots fired upon by weapons. I think this happened multiple times, but were nerfed to oblivion/buffed to ultimate death mech afterwards.

If you are not yet out of the cadet phase, you cannot judge the "real" game yet. I can tell you that from experience. Playing with trial mechs is like having one hand tied behind your back. Customization is everything IMO. Playing in a mech you have customized to your playstyle is a night and day difference compared to a Trial mech. It is not merely a matter of "Light/Medium/Heavy"...every model of mech has it's own quirks. How far it's torso can twist, and how fast and smooth (and XP will further modify that), how far it's arms can move, what stuff it can mount and where. Even cockpit visibility. You've seen a tiny sliver of the real game.

The trials may not have full optimization in comparison to bought mechs, but the trials are very very powerful in the right hands. I've had matches where I killed two lances by myself with the Dragon and Atlas trials, while my Centurion a lance and a half. The Hunchie Champ I've never tried and the Spider, Catapult, and Jenner only achieve single kills (but many kill assists) in each game. The Champion trials are a lot better than before. I get your point and agree that the trials don't provide the whole experience of the game though.

That a mech you cannot customize is dramatically inferior to one that you can. I thought I said it pretty directly as well.

And I'm hardly the only one who thinks so. Trial mechs feel gimped because they are not optimized...they don't have endo or double heat sinks. They tend to be jack-of-all-trades when it comes to weapon loadouts. I am several times more effective in a custom mech than I am in a trial mech, and I have heard lots of other players say the same thing. Trial mechs are awful.

...if your playstyle happens to fit how it is configured. Which is not most people in my experience.

Oh, {Scrap} should've posted response to whatzituyah, first part not against you. Trials with the champion sign are very very effective, while the regular trials, some are nice (stock stalkers, stock 3L, etc.), some are down right terrible (stock spiders, flamer blackjack, and some stock cicadas, etc.) Now the trials are all champs, so that's what I'm referring to. Yes, they still pale slightly compared to your own mechs but I run them cause I'm cheap and it's faster to grind before you get the mech.

Uh, knockdown has been removed a long time ago. But I still struggle to hear you're entire point, you're sorta putting stuff everywhere and I can't really get the main point you're trying to state.

Knock down was in MechWarrior 4 it was nice to stop the annoying little mechs like that ok? I don't mind not having environmental destruction but I do want Knockdown.

Oh, yeah I also want knockdown as well. It just wasn't super clear in the post you made earlier, confused me a bit. I think it had something to do with Dragons, forgot what though. Nice to see that you're out of Recruit/Cadet Bonus and you've picked your faction (nice choice, as that faction gets access to the Clans early)! :) Mechwarrior 4 was great until Mektek told us that Mekpak 4 wasn't going to be released. Then it was sad. <_<

Hey Whatzituyah, saw you in battle and invited you to my friends list. Just a general tip, XL is best with the COM-3A. I did see your loadout, it's fine (1x Med Pulse and 2x SSRM2s for attack, 1x Flamer for annoyance) but you do need to consider the mastering of the mechs. I also see you don't really know how to group with others, it is once in a while awesome to group in a lance so you will fight together. Tbh, Teamspeak is not 100% necessary (better but not needed, the chat system works). Hope to see you in the battlefield with the Commandoes.
