What's your average damage? I thought about mine and crunched the numbers. It the good, the bad, and the average:

Posted Image

So after 1,773 matches and doing 441,674pts of damage my average is 249.11

I put this up to give new players a chance to see what 'average' is or at least what it might be.

Damn... 1773 matches! I'm only 76 matches in! lol!

With the 52 i've done with my own dragon, my average damage is 116.75.

I've got a way to go yet ;)

Apparently I average around 208 points of damage, though 4 of my top 6 in damage are my newest ones (3 stalkers and the trial spider) and they're all over 250.

246.89 averaged across 1472 matches.

And that's almost exclusively in those sub-optimal medium 'mechs, and usually with the sub-optimal variants too boot! The CN9-AL, BJ-1DC, KTO-anything...

Honestly surprised I came so close to an Assault/Heavy pilot ;)

Damage should not be the measure they use. Kills and assists should be the measure. I have had games where I got 3 kills with under 150 damage total. Damage will increase your CBills but kills are what win games, not damage.

That being said, new players should be doing over 100 points a game as a minimum IMO.

This. I'd rather have someone who knows where to shoot to avoid major damage sinks rather than someone who spreads their shots.

This will be very tricky to compare considering some guys have been on here for a year now and at times certain mech builds have been significantly more (or less) damaging than others. then again the stats only got implemented in the spring.. so lets see..

27 different mechs played over 3862 matches = an average damage done of...322.3
Shockingly that includes over 900 drops in Awesomes of various flavours.. I new I liked them but not that much! lol

I'm not sure its wise to include trial mechs in equation, so after taking them out, it looks like my average damage is about 102. I've played less than 300 matches total so far though, so I wouldn't exactly expect my stats to look any decent. I know that I've been averaging around 200 over the past two weeks though (forgot to write down all the matches, but yeah, its around there).

One thing I never liked about most of these stat trackers is that there's never any indication of these numbers over time. I'm sure most of us would see a rise in our average scores with each chassis over time. Hell, my K/D is less than one-quarter but it took me quite a few drops until I got my first kill.

Hmm 633 matches 180 average damage I could be happier. Then again I'm scoring better than I use to so we'll see if this can't be improved. It's good that I learned not to pilot lights relatively early or it would be a lot uglier.

Forum Profile -> Stats -> copy & paste mech stats into excel or similar and divide your total damage by your number of games.

I get an average of 295 damage from 1045 games.

313 damage (hunchies and jagers only) in 636 matches.

Damage per Jager (Max: FB 331) is hardly more than the damage per Hunchy (max 310 on 4H), but is 0.8 points lower in K/D ratio (HB vs JM: 2.8 vs 2.0 K/D, and 1.49 vs 1.31 K/match).

Concusion: stop playing with Jagers? Learn to play with Jagers?

More interestingly, my average damage of the AC20 is 20.085D/hit.

332 million CBills earned, so far. (Should give you same significant data about my Mechskills, as avg DMG does. It's very depending...)

This is sad. Just another reason for light pilots to ignore caps/spotting/scouting in favor of dying in a brawl.

Damage done includes any damage you cause by critting ammo/weapons.

I once ran a 4xAC5 JM with 120 rounds. No other weapons. In my best match, I did over 700 points of damage.

I really dont Think kills/assists is a good indicator of how effective you are during a match. I say this because I like to PUG in the SDR-5D - and in those matches, I've had quite a few kills (I Think I've had 5 at most) and quite a few assists (10 is my personal best) - but did I "contribute" to the team during those matches? Not a huge deal.. Those numbers come from being smart about who to pick on, and above all - WHEN to pick on them. Getting assists in the spider is basicly running around in the brawl and tagging everybody once to increase your payout  I certainly Think damage done is a much better indicator of the "use" you were to your team - I know I feel a whole lot better about getting a 500+ damage match than I am getting 10 assists :D

So you guys can compare, here are my stats:
Posted Image

Avg damage over all mechs doesn't tell much, you should look at the weapons and mech you're using. An assault should dish out more dmg than a light, Just like an Raven 3L with an ERPPC/ERLLas has more damage potential than an Raven 4X with dual machinegun and dual MedLas. Don't get me started on K:D ratio.. the same Raven 3L has a lower chance to deal a killing blow than the before mentioned Raven 4X.

Kills say verry little: You can core an Atlas in a 1 on 1 fight only to have someone else fire off one lrm5 salvo dealing 3 dmg and killing said Atlas. How does that make the lrm5 guy more relevant?

Deaths say verry little: You can deal a lot of damage and kill a lot in an AC40 Jager, especially when you shoot at jenners, but using dual AC20 means that you have to get up close and personal increasing the odds that you'll be killed. Meanwhile an Stalker with ERLLas and tripple LRM15 can fire relatively safely from a distance and from behind cover drasticly decreasing the odds that you'll be killed.

K:D ratio mostly says little about a player: You can be brawling and dishing out damage up to 1200 in a match, but kill next to none because some "kid who's born outside of a marriage with another wife" is killstealing with a Commando keeps hiding and using one perfectly timed shot when the enemy mech is cored all the while you die in a game after softening up the whole enemy team. Now that Commando has a K:D ratio of 12.0 and you have a K:D ratio of 0.2. Does that make the Commando better?

Alternative: XP per match might be a good one because the previous Commando gets 8XP for the kill and you'll get 282 xp. But even that isn't a good one. Because people who core only the ct or a side torso with a XL engine in it dish out a lot less damage than somebody who also dish out damage to other locations. So you have low damage and a kill resulting in less xp than the other guys would have gotten, that doesn't make you bad, no you are efficient and can aim like a pro.. especially if you know how to core head sections.

TLDR: There is not a single stat that objectively says how good anyone is.
