I partially agree. It should be able to do it's job, which is scouting, basically from a range where it's much safer for a light mech. I put a suggestion recently, which includes how to make information warfare work with scouts:

This would also make locusts more meaningful, especially with BAP.

Why do you deserve a refund? When did they tell you it would be faster than the spider?

So conclusion. Fix spider hit boxes and it will feel like all lights (I did not see the fix in this patch sadly.)
This...Spider Pilots are basically cheating. That is not what lights should actually play like IMO.

If there was a stock configuration game option they might be competitive, but lets face it many mechs are going to be 'dead on arrival' to use the popular term.

This is what I think would help it tremedously. I've messed around with various builds and having to add 4 heatsinks to a mech that can't carry enough weapons to even justify that much cooling totally kills the loadout potential.

The Locust in this game is more of a utilitarian support mech, especially the -3M model. Its two AMS' can really help out a group of heavies pinned by LRM fire.

but surely the locust can be a potent mech if piloted well. you simply dont step infront of assaults with it nor you play it like a spider. hit and run is best tactic using all the cover you can get even if it means other mechs. an advantage i see in the locust is, that the main weaponry is located "high" on the chassis hence u can stay with the lower body covered on most maps while being able to shoot at the enemy. And if I see red smoke i run off as fast as i can...

It is a risk/reward kind of platform, that has results a bit all over the board. I have had some good games with it and some bad ones. Occasionally I will die without a kill and maybe about 100 dmg, BUT....
Then I will have a game like last night with 3 Kills and 540 dmg done. It's so fast and nimble, that hit-and-run tactics are generally rewarded.
The key is not getting pinpoint alpha'd and that is one of those things generally out of your control. I can still be running at 130kph with full armor and all of a sudden get the side torso blown out in one hit and killed. Also, getting legged instantly happens relatively quick too if bad luck hits.
It is a love/hate sort of chassis, but overall is a bit fun when the regular grind gets a bit stale.

You have to survive GETTING TO THE ENEMY before you actually have to worry about their weapons.
