I've been using this recently. I like raining death on people, so I made use of the missile racks.
TDR-5S

i would drop the heat sink, and go with LRM20+lrm10,, better use of your tubes, for a 30 LRM strike.. But over all solid idea.

Im planing to make this one but im not sure how efective it will be:

[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...263fbd47a1e5e59[/smurfy]

I used most of the stock build but still looks like a good start

Another build i have is this:

[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0a35aabf983dccb[/smurfy]

Its a good combination of sniper/spotter/defender making it a very good and effective support mech

Since the release of the new quirks system the Thunderbolt has become a very viable mech capable of competing against the clans.

TDR-5SS: The two LPLs located on your right shoulder are excellent for ridge peeking. I'd recommend only firing all weapons when you know you can get away with it or as a last resort - activate override shutdown. You'll want seizmic sensor, radar deprivation, cool shots, LPL range/cooldown, and MPL range/cooldown modules.

TDR-5SS: For greater survivability and cooling efficiency > damage.

TDR-9SE: Not as hot as it might appear on paper. Your primary weapons are the LPLs, the MPLs are just for peeking around right hand corners, knocking down UAVs, or firing in one alpha when it's safe to do so.

This is the build I got 4th in the tourney with. This is the build you're looking for. (alternatively switch everything for mpulses)

Edit: IT BRAWLS, IT POKES, IT TANKS, IT DOES DAMNED NEAR EVERYTHING! (batteries not included)

TDR-9S

This is the best performing pulse laser mech that I have ever used.

The new quirks are a straight 25% heat reduction on energy weapons. Pair that with the level 5 cool down modules and the cooldown quirks and you can fire a 46 point alpha every 2.5 seconds.

the standard 275 with speed teak gives it plenty of speed and the bonus structure equals a suprisingly tough mech. Also comes with a shield arm which is great.

I am a brawler at heart, I like to see the whites of their eyes. The way I look at it, I am in a giant robot covered in armour. Might as well make that armour work for me. Fortune favours the bold!

A large part of the strategy with that build is spreading damage and popping off that big alpha on the correct component when you twist back in.

Holy crap I love the 9S. This is probably my new favorite mech. It runs a STD280, ERPPC, and 5MPL, and also has 2 AMS and a BAP. The PPC is like freaking machine gun and runs VERY cool with the new quirks. It's ALWAYS relevant to a fight, provides a ton of utility, and just about as nasty as a thunderwub 5SS up close. Keep in mind that, beyond the crazy ERPPC quirks, this thing actually has 10% MORE bonus cooling for all energy weapons than a 5SS, about the same CD reduction, and has a duration quirk for MPL at the cost of the MPL range boost. That's not a bad tradeoff.

Might strip out the AMS for a little bigger engine though - not sure yet.

I've also run a version with 2 ERPPC and 4ML which is pretty great - you can constantly fire the PPCs for almost a minute before overheating - it's nuts. It's like a 65 ton hunchback that has crazy range for it's AC20. Still like the 5MPL 1 ERPPC better myself, but they're both pretty amazing.

I'll have to try out a large and medium pulse laser combo on the 9s. But the BOOM BOOM BOOM tripple erppc is too much fun right now. With 2 erppcs as high as your head you can actually snipe with that mech.

Running 9s with
2xAMS
2x EPPC
4MLaser

Loving it, these quirks really turn the ppc on

This is going to sound crazy...

But I am starting to realize that the new mechs are causing me to think more outside the box when it comes to builds.

TDR-9SE

This is the idea I have been kicking around for two of them, it will work with the SE and the S variants.

9se I drive it after the RT and LT and lpl quieks so:
xl 315(87 kmh) 3large puls and 2 srm4+A faaaaaast and very cool and full armor -fuuuuuuuun !loove it
yes i know xl.... buuut use its speed and agility and the nice boom for fast hit and tun attacks. wo here the link

9S 2ERPPC 3 ML rest in DHS, think of it as an ammo-less cool long range AC20 that has close to a 2 second cooldown.
MAY try 3 ERPPC and no ML.

5SS all MPL, for when its up close and personal...well not so much with those quirks.

9SE, gonna try 4LPL for the mid-range.

Thor approves of Thunderbolts.

Lots of good builds in this thread. I personally like these:

TDR-9S - 2xERPPC, 3xML, STD 275 (can do 4xML with smaller engine or 1 less DHS)
TDR-5SS - 7xMPL, STD 280
TDR-9SE - 2xLPL (in the arm), 3xML, STD 275
TDR-5S - 1xLL, 3xML, 2xASRM6, 2xMG, STD 275

I personally feel that XL engines are a mistake in Thunderbolts. They have weapons all over the place, and can tank a lot of damage. Fire and twist is the name of the game. Spread the damage all around, lose a torso and keep fighting with the other half of your weapons. I've heard that many teams now just go for the legs because it is faster than torso kills.

Yes. Thuds are wide with only one shield arm.

That being said...one could support from range with an XL ala Gman's builds. *gasp* LRMs included. His 2LRM+A15/3LL seemed good. And i hate using LRMs.

I've been struggling to find something different that I can use for my 3rd TDR.

My 5S is an LRM boat and my 5SS jumps from Wub Boat to PPC poker.

Please tear these builds apart, but do it constructively.

Have been running this TDR-9S for a while, works good for me :)
PPC for a long range, when in a mid range add 5 meds and SRM6+A in a close range for more damage. With quirks it runs realy cool with a good fire power in mid range.

The 9S is excellent with 2 ERPPC and 3-4ML. I use a standard something (it goes about 75 KPH) and it's probably one of my better more serious builds.

I have been just using 3 er ppc. I generally start CW with it as theres more long range in the start of a match. Find its better at defense then offence. Generally die at 700-1k dmg done.
