Locusts Vs Spiders

Well placed shots cream a Locust with ease. Well placed shots glance right off a Spider's armor.
Logically this just doesn't make sense. The Locust, rather than the Spider, should be the mech that is harder to destroy.
Discuss.

In other words, double armor/structure helps the Spider but not the Locust, and thats why the Locust dies so much faster.
It's really time for PGI to consider increasing internal structure on all mechs...

They already doubled it - what more do you want?

Spider - less spindly, lower arms to protect the kidney and rib areas, has jumpjets.
from spider entry on sarna.net "The Spider is one of the most maneuverable BattleMechs ever conceived. It has a ground speed that is comparable to a Locust and can out jump either the vaunted Wasp or Stinger light 'Mechs. Spiders are generally used as fast strike forces to hit an enemy's rear with lightning speed."

No mech should get one-shotted. Internal structure needs to be increased at least to the point where thats no longer possible.

The fastest way to kill a Spider is to cut off it's legs.
Give it time.

I assume you're referring to the fact that the LCT only has 10 ISHP in its side torsos and unless you have 11 or more armor, an AC20 can kill you IF you have an XL engine?

You pretty much have to have an XL engine on a Locust, the tonnage required for a STD engine eats up too much of your weapon tonnage, and at that point you might as well just play a Spider. Besides, even with a STD engine, any 30 point alpha can still kill you in one hit. The Locust is way too easy to one-shot.
Center and side internal structure needs to be increased on all mechs by about 50%. It would also make critical hits matter a lot more since items would be more likely to get destroyed before the entire location is destroyed. Mechs just die way too fast now and critical hits are completely pointless.

Maybe I'm the only one that still plays the game for fun... but running through a battle in a locust is akin to "counting coup"

I find it riotously fun

Problems with the hitboxes as far as i know.
Just 15min ago i had a spider(standing) in front of my lasers, and it was hit by multiple alpha strikes, larges lasers and ppcs.
4 or 5 complete hits with all weapons, no damage to the spider.
It's kinda discouraging to walk around in a heavy mech and get killed by indestructible spiders.

1 Gauss shot pretty much almost kills me in a Locust. 1 Gauss shot to a Spider and it ignores it

I run my Locusts with the 190XL (and yes AMS) - for Speed is this mech's armour. Piloting a Locust takes different tactics. On Tourmaline, one foe pilot in a 1V(P) managed to get 6, yes 6 kills. But in all probability he used the 1V(P) similar to the Raven-4X - as a support mech.
With that said, for me the Locust is just too light - once I master its 3 variants I am selling them off to mech room for other mechs.

I gotta disagree. the fact that 20 tons is the lightest our Mechs can be should tip people of that it will die... easily. AC20 to an arm or leg should be more than enough to leg a Locust.

Until weight-limits are implemented, there's just no reason to pilot a 20 ton Light when you can pilot a 35 ton Light instead.
