I'll have to check that video out, thanks for the fyi. And feel free to contact me if you need help or advice. Not sure if I'll be able to answer your question, but I can certainly try.

Thanks. I will in the near future after I've given you some time to tinker with it. By then perhaps I'll finish with the Nin Kei (a bipedal chicken-legged security mech with tank-treads) and finish the humanoid security mech I'm building.

LEGO Digital Designer! Can you put the LXFML file some place public, or do you want to keep it private? (don't blame you if you want to keep it private - great work!)

You can follow me here: http://mwomercs.com/...68#entry4265168

As for the file, I need to build it physically before releasing instructions for it.

I've been wondering about that...since it has an ejection handle in the cockpit, but where does he eject from?

The top hatch can blow out but it'd be a tight fit and he might lose an arm if he doesn't tuck in:

And he sure as hell can't eject through the entry hatch, as the thing is already a tight fit:

I think it's not an ejection its a Self Suicide button, so the pilot gets scrambled in the cockpit. lol

Spiders are listed as "No Eject." :P Seems to be a reason.

Then again there's a story in one of the BattleTechnology magazines of a Locust pilot taking a turn too hard, falling on its rear and doing a power slide through an enemy infantry force and slamming feet first into a building. Since getting up would never happen in time, he ejected with a (and I quote from the story) "Whoop whoop whoop whoop!" on his way out despite losing both an arm and a leg on the ejection.

This is really fantastic stuff. Easily one of my favorite threads (this and the Fix the Catapult geometry one).

Bravo Zulu!

So yeah.. Haruko, got another scale-thing for ya again.

This time rather than ammo, I was kinda curious if you could shrink a copy of the Shadowhawk to match this scale (best comparison is in the second part).
Posted Image
Images are from issue 101 of Battletechnology, 1987 with FASA's originally intended BT scale for the Shadowhawk.
(When looking at this scale, the Shadowhawk's poor armor makes a LOT of sense...)

I'd like to see a Shadowhawk copy scaled to this size (remove any parts you need to in order to make it work I know some programs won't be able to shrink everything perfectly) with your figures posed as in the second picture. Beside that, the Crysis tank you used in previous comparisons. And beside that, MWO's Shadowhawk.

Just because I'm morbidly curious.

Here you go
Posted Image

The Shadowhawk is originally based on a Dougram, from the anime who's name escapes me at the moment.
The Dougrams official height is listed as 9.63 meters, I tried eyeballing your image and I tried sizing it exactly to the official size and the result was more or less the same as your image.

So there you go.

I've also been playing around with mech melee animations recently:

Thats all for now

Punch animation seems like a good start. May or may not want to fit leg movement with it (depends on if you plan to punch while moving or while stationary).

Thanks for the image and you did great! You don't happen to know the official heights of the other unseen, would you?

It was just a test to see if the Atlas could actually move its limbs in a way to do melee reasonably so I didn't bother with the legs. I'm going to give it a proper rig so I can do a full melee animation eventually.

If you want the official heights for the unseen easiest thing to do is to just figure out what mech from what anime they are based off of and just google the height, most animes release art books which give the stated heights so they're not hard to find online. Most of the Unseen are from Macross so it should be really easy to find.

Some thing to keep in mind with that is what anime they came from. Some from robotech have a different scale. The Pheonix hawk (wasp) is a light mech in battletech, and is nearly half the size it was in the original anime. This trait is also shared with the zentraedi officer's pod (marauder) The marauder is roughly half the size of the officer's pod. The destroid tomahawk (Warhammer) defender (rifleman) spartan (archer) and phalanx (longbow) share the same scale as there anime cousins. (Most of these heights came from the miniatures from the new rpg tactics game that just came out.)

This just covers the macross/robotech unseens and I hope this helps.

Very nice animation btw haruko :)

Didn't Russ debunk it and say they were no longer working on the Flea in one of the town halls after the executioner and wave III originally debuted?

I would hope so. Otherwise it's like saying "we're not interested in making 20 ton mechs anymore."

This thread makes me wish I could see my mechwarrior step into the cockpit. They should hire you to direct some more dynamic "fluff" events.
