Okay, those kids' dad wins. The internet is over, we can all go home. Seriously, that's awesome. I mean, just really, really cool. Almost as cool as one of our members and his girlfriend having Davion and Kurita pendants that they wear out in public together to see if anyone notices and reacts.

Captured on Tukayyid maybe? Could it be Aidan Pryde's Mad Cat?

What would the ComStar zealots actually make of a Clan 'Mech?

Actually, I've been wondering about that. ComStar had access to a lot of lostech, but they were still using "normal" IS equipment at the end of the day, right? So surely fighting the Clans must have been quite and uphill struggle, even if they had better stuff than the rest of the Inner Sphere? Even with all the balancing that PGI has done in MWO, I think it would be tough (though not impossible) for an all-IS unit to win against an all-clan unit at equal tonnage.

The Com Guard on Tukayyid were mostly using Star League era 'Mechs, which means Level 2 tech. That's double heatsinks, gauss, endosteel, XL engines, pulse lasers, ER PPCs, ECM etc.

The Com Guard were hovering at around 95% Level 2 Tech while the Inner Sphere forces the Clans had fought were at more like 10% Level 2. So right out of the box the Clans were getting hit with advanced tech at a level they weren't expecting. Ton for ton Clans still dominated, but not nearly as much as they did regular House units.

This didn't put them on even ground. Clans still had a huge Mech to Mech advantage. What gave Com Guard the edge was the fact that the Com Guard outnumbered them somewhere between three and five to one. When you mix that with the Clans' staggered landings and ambush tactics that Focht used you end up with, at the beginning, against Nova Cat, ComStar outnumbering their opponents 6:1.

As Tukayyid went on and ComStar suffered massive losses their numbers advantaged dwindled, but they were still usually able to throw at least 2 to 1 odds at the Clans by redeploying armies from zones where it had already achieved victory, something the Clans would never do. Each clan fought individually against the forces arrayed against it while some of the Com Guard units redeployed and fought against two or even three different clans over the battle.

The Com Guard 2nd Army, in fact, participated in combat against all of the clans except Ghost Bear.

There are some interesting forum threads on it:

You might remember her as "Tinkerbell". In the Com Guard, her callsign was Alphabet...

I think at one point, Mag talked her down from the edge of insanity or depression.

Apparently, at some point in the relatively near future, she answers Com Star's call to return to service.

Quote

Name: Emily Wolodkiewicz

Call sign: Tinkerbell (Alphabet)

Affiliated Faction: Free Rasalhague Republic

Description: Young, late teens or early twenties. 5'1", pixie cut blonde hair. Very slim. Weighs maybe 100 pounds on a high gravity world.

Traits: An honest, forthright young woman being terribly taken advantage of.

Mech most piloted and typical loadout: Whatever Heimler happens to have let her pilot. Currently his Locust, Melissa IV, with 4 small pulse lasers and a torso mounted medium laser.
