P.S. Grats on the new rank.
Adridos,
I only just met you a few weeks ago, and I must say, you have yet failed to amaze me with your spirit, outgoing character and inquisitive outlook on all things BT/MW/MWO and Liao.
I must state that I appreciate the way you represent the House of Liao on the forums. I hope others will take notice and follow suit.
I personally look forward to getting to know you better in the up and coming months on the MWO forums, and once we get rolling on open coms over Ventrillo I look forward to some great conversations.
I will share a few tid-bits about myself with you, but I will leave any remaining references about me, up to those whom I have known for years, and played countless hours online with.
But my new friend you asked for a little back ground, so I will oblige and provide you a little insight into who "Metro" is.
One thing you will have figured out now for yourself, is I am Capellan to the core. Green skin, green blood, green bones, green clothing,GREEN GREEN GREEN.
Why you ask?
Easy Answer: Loyalty. Something I have witnessed many I have met in the last 20 years fail to be able to claim to their hearts core. Why? It is always easier to move off when the s h i t hits the fan, and go somewhere where you can blend into the back ground and hide. But those who have stuck it out, defended Liao, Liao integrity, Liao splendor and Liao History, and we call one another friends? Well they have my full attention and dedication and will so until the day the Good Lord Calls me outta here.
How I came into MultiPlayerBattletech and all the great people I have come to know, was the reverse course of many who I know
I started playing online Batteltech in 1981 then got involved in EGA, Genie, Solaris, MPBT 3025 where I had always just run alone, because I was new to it, noone knew me, and I was new to computers and probably a little scared.
Then one day after days and weeks of no one speaking to me or inviting me to play, lo' and behold I was approached by a House Liao Officer. His Name was Green Hornet. A dude named Richard from the Carolinas! I was SO happy, I finally had a friend. He talked to me for a couple of days and took me under his wing, and taught me the ins and outs of the online game tactics.
Hence I joined House Liao.
I got to meet and talk to former and Current House Leadership and probably 100-200 of the most interesting Capellan people I had ever come across.
Blackwidow
Mao
Green Hornet
Kyll Long
Raistlin Teng
Tatsu
Beck
Virgil
Jarrick
Diablo
Icefire
StealthDeath
Nomad
Warcry(Felony)
Paleryder
and the list goes on and on....
They all taught me about, House Liao, about respect, honor, loyalty, structure and order and set me out to fight! I was determined to protect them with everything I had to give.
From there I immersed myself in all things Liao, bought the board game, cards, story books, field manuals, miniatures hat, shirts, etc etc and I have stood by House Liao since I was just a young squirt.
You are correct MW1 I missed, but MW2,3,4 mech assualt, mpbt games and now Mwll and Mektek were all we had,
TILL NOW.
I am stoked about MWO and the promise it holds for our BT/MW Community. I want House Liao to play a big part in seeing it become a massive success.
....
Met

But the Honor is all mine,.... TO STAND WITH YOU.
For it is young warriors just like yourself, who help make up the backbone of our great House, ones who have served and will serve with Valor and conviction.
These same warriors that prepared the path made available to myself to become a part of something GREAT!
You just may be the one to carry the torch foreword to the next generation, when us ole' vets have passed on.
What a great testament and promise you are to House Liao.

I met him back in mid 2001, during the beta of MPBT: 3025. I had never played an MMO of any type. I had played several of the mechwarrior games on consoles and PC, mainly MW3. I joined House Liao under the St. Ives-MoC group, and was introduced to this guy named Metro, shortly there after. He taught me all about House Liao, MPBT and the whole online Battletech community.
After that ended, we transitioned to MW4, the Zone, and a couple leagues, always a group of us sticking together, and picking up others along the way. Metro was always there to help, whether it was background on the BT universe, House Liao, or training on whatever game platform we happened to be using.
I've known him for over 10 years now, he has always been there when I needed to talk, even during an especially dark and rough time in my life. We may go a little time between conversations, but I know where to find him.
The only thing that saddens me about all this, is that......I have yet to meet this man I call a friend face to face, but hopefully that will change very soon. I'm here and I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon brother.

We will meet one day soon. I hope we will have opportunity to have of House Liao meet at a gaming convention that revolves around the new and promising MWO.
It could happen!
And yes, I am sure I am not the only one that is happy you are safe and sound back on the mainland.

Secondly, anyone who has played Mechassault is ok in my book...
Third, being that House Liao is all about the Chinese style, I want to hear more...
I am an expert in Chinese martial arts and LOVE the culture. When I came to understand the different house lineages, I was most intrigued with House Liao.
So, about that cognac...and oh yeah, are the cigars green too? ( I am of course, all about the TCM )

We've just emerged from a dark period of purges, during which our beloved Chancellor Romano Liao converted our entire production into military applications, just to keep the Federated Commonwealth at bay. Sun-Tzu, heir to the Celestial Throne, is receiving a classical education rather than a military one, so better times are clearly ahead of us. Some say we are at the dawn of a new golden age. Others disagree, but they had best not do it anyplace the Maskirovka can hear.

Some of us from the Tikonov area have remained and will always remain true to the great Citizens of our House. For those who have their doubts ...The purges will continue until morale improves!

This is true. Many loyal highlanders remained as well. The Confederation rewarded each for their loyalty and in many cases their children, denied the opportunity to serve in the unit of their parents because of Davion treachery, found homes in the elite Warrior Houses.

RB, I completely agree. Chinese history and tradition is one of the more fascinating in the world. I fell in love with it playing "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" on SNES. I'm reading the book, it's a little abstract, but provides a great insight.

The Korvin Doctrine teaches that "to disobey the will of the state is to threaten the ultimate future of the human race". Franco Liao, the first Capellan Chancellor is quoted as saying, "I am the state." Every Chancellor has followed in his footsteps.
The Sarna Mandate instructs the elite members of society, particularly MechWarriors, nobles and scientists to take every action to secure the survival of the state, no matter the cost to individual members. This has led to a caste structure, in which only exceptional individuals rise through their exemplary service to the Confederation.
The Lorix Order states that as a result of these philosophies, the citizen has the right to expect the highest level of professionalism and performance from the military that defends it. Therefore, MechWarriors owe to the citizens a life of endless training and campaigning, thereby contributing to the good of society by becoming the society's best defenders. Their highest ideal must be loyalty to the people, to the state, and above all, to the Chancellor.
These philosophies, more than any one culture, are at the foundation of House Liao and the Capellan Confederation.

I sum it up in my signature. For Liao My Honor is my Life. For a true Capellan there is no higher Honor than serving than serving the Chancellor, The House of Liao, The Capellan Confederation and thereby it's Citizens.

The cigars are premium. From the private tobacco facilities in the Victoria district. Location unknown. Green when harvested, but deep dark oily black when prepped to be lit for a puff!
Redbeard, Welcome ! and "John"aka "Max Liao" is an avid LIAO walking History Professor, when he checks in, I am sure he can single handedly drown you with the TAO/chinese Liao! I appreciate it myself. But with blonde hair and blue eyes, well now ya know why my home planet is Tikonov.
FED RATS ! Those b a st a r ds. Stay outta my cellar!
I for one, joined liao at a very young age, and will die a capellan. I love the people, the history and heritage. The conviction, and above all the decades of friendships.
Their is none other like LIAO.

I've been playing MW/MC and the follow up games as well as the extended universe for a while now but never really participated in any online
communities. However this amazing MWO has rekindled my faith in the continuation of the saga(And that of my house name...lol).
Glad to meet you all.
