Oh god... all of those mechs that are being planned to be "addressed" (BJ, Stalker, Jager, Cataphract), the Jager probably needs it most, and the rest do not.

I can only say the patch with these set of hitbox fixes may be apocalyptic... in terms of the whining.

Well, while the Jager needs work, all the others can use pelvis fixing to follow the new standard. The stalker in particular suffers from an enormous, all CT pelvis.

I don't think these mechs will see much change beyond the thong treatment moving some pelvis damage to the legs.

The Atlas+Cent got nerfed from said changes and then some, so it'll be more than one would like.

I know the cent got nerfed (sadly, while it's hitboxes WHERE broken, they made it a very awesome medium), but I was unaware of the Atlas - I haven't played much over the last month or so, on account of meh. Looking forward to new toys to play some more ;)

How was the Atlas nerfed? It certainly didn't need nerfing IMHO.

Side torsos were made bigger, and since it is usually the #1 focused target by competent pilots, it's going faster.

Gotcha. Kinda curious, really, why they'd do that. I don't think anyone had an issue with the atlas' CT being too big; nobody just cores an Atlas. Too much armor. Much quicker to shear off the ballistic side and neuter it, then finish at your leisure. Ah well, I rarely understand why PGI does what they do, so this is nothing new.

Yay for the update! I like the sound of "due to the number of Mechs being introduced" as a reason to push the hitboxes back a little. At least nobody can complain about the hitboxes being ignored while no new content is released :)

I thought all the Phoenix/Saber 'mechs were done already? At least they claimed to have a "3-month window", didn't they? And now they can't adjust hitboxes because of the Phoenix/Saber 'mechs?

As said before... it's better they look things over before releasing it instead of releasing it without checking it first. If they are polishing the work before releasing it, then that's a valid reason for not being currently engaged in reviewing the older stuff. If you have a constant number of staff-hours available, then you can only split them so many ways and have them working at such capacities. Right now, it seems like they are focusing staff-hours on something that was significant enough in scale that it derived resources from the hitbox review process.

So... I kind of expect them to release some cool stuff for public use. It will (quite possibly) require review by the technical staff to see how it's used and to see what bug reports come through the support pipeline. I'm betting the new Mechs and the new Map combined are going to be more demanding than hitbox reviews for the previously released Mechs.

For the most part, I hope they don't do much besides thonging these mechs. Maybe help with the Cataphrat's CT just a bit (It seems too big for me as a new 'Phrat pilot).

why are they not showing us the exact changes going under their skins? why would we need to put so much time into testing to get the box guessed right. i want some images with these patch notes! false colour images clearly defining sections.

Because a lot of people have very conflicting opinions of what the hitboxes "should" be, and they chose not to deal with all the flaming if/when they showed it to us

IE there is a large portion of the forumites that believe legging should not kill a mech - and get very upset whenever they find out or get told that PGI is not going to do that

Dare them if they mess up the phract. Its the only one that works pretty well. But they will have time for it because I quit playing since the last developers update. And I won't continue before next year. There is too few progress in my opinion. And some aspects even got worse. But that's only my 2 cents.

And I thought the British know how to behave. I put my playing on hold because of my disappointment. But I still hope the Team finds its way back on the right Development path.

I would assume that his post was not meant as rude as it seemed, esp since your post was much less rude than most that fall into it's category.

There are a lot of people who have 'quit playing' and are 'never coming back' but still post in the forums about how horrible the game is.
I am sure you will forgive us for:
1) being tired of that.
2) possibly jumping to the conclusion that you were yet another one.

I apologize for assuming both, with so little evidence.

And with the Dec 9th post, still no mention of the Catapult. Seriously?!?!?!? This one mech, other than the spider, has been screaming for a rework of the head and CT hit boxes. Others mentioned do not nearly have the same need for rework, other than maybe the Cent, just because it always seems to be the unkillable zombie...

Terrain hitboxes are much much more important than mech hitboxes

This.

Yes. It would also be nice to see more accurate collision boxes for the static meshes around the maps.

So why is the Catapult, with some of the worst hitboxes in the game, so low-priority? The Cicada seriously needed a nerf more urgently than the Catapult needs a buff? (Hint: the Cicada needed a buff too; way to get it wrong again).

At this rate, I would honestly not be surprised if they made the Catapult's side torsos even smaller, and made the rear CT larger as well. Unfortunately, PGI is trying to make MWO into a twitch shooter. Mechs should have been re-boxed to be more like the Cent and Stalker, but it seems we're going the opposite direction.

Not to mention, they haven't fixed what is literally the only thing they actually said they would do: ensure damage is applied to the correct components. At the very least, the Spider and Cicada still transfer damage from destroyed arms to all sorts of wacky places, including sometimes transferring the damage dealt to a destroyed arm un-reduced, directly to the CT.

Bad individual changes aside, PGI has not done the one thing that they actually said these passes were supposed to do.

The spider is still broken. You fixed the hitboxes. Great. Problem is the broken hit detection is still unchanged. You can still shoot a stationary spider with an AC20 and it doesn't register right and it shrugs it off. Back to the drawing board boys and girls.....
