The King Crab is literally the only Inner Sphere 100 ton mech in production before the Clan Invasion aside from the Atlas.

Well that is great then, hopefully the "when" will be as a last IS sale before the clan mechs touchdown. I bet they do have there hands full though with all the clan designing and balancing right now.

That would be great, and perhaps it could go along with a Comstar mech pack sense Comstar fields probably by far the largest amount of Crabs and King Crabs if I am not mistaken. They may also throw in the Thug as its for the most part an Assault version of the Warhammer and perhaps they may even throw in the Wyvern as Comstar had a large number of them as well as many others that have not been seen sense the Star League.

You're not alone as of today the poll is at 222 who'd pay, 114 who want the mechs but not for real money, and 29 who could care less about crabs. A 60% majority would pay real money if PGI implemented these at a reasonable price. (Read not 40 dollars for one hero mech)

I can imagine carrying around lighter mechs on my head because of its larger flat top than other mechs.

All of the current same-tonnage Hero 'Mech sets (Ember & Oxide @ 35 tons, Grid Iron & Yen-Lo-Wang @ 50 tons, Fang & Flame @ 60 tons, Jester & Firebrand @ 65 tons, and Pretty Baby & Dragon Slayer @ 80 tons) have the 'Mechs at the same price point (which, IIRC, is based on tonnage and works out to something like 75 MC per ton), so it is very likely that a Hero KGC would be at the same price as the same-tonnage Boar's Head (that is, 7500 MC... between $29.99 and $41.70, depending on which MC package(s) one purchases in order to purchase it) while a Hero CRB would be at the same price as the same-tonnage Grid Iron & Yen-Lo-Wang (that is, 3750 MC... between $14.99 and $20.85, depending on which MC package(s) one buys in order to purchase it).

That next year, when Tukayyid would happen (not sure if that is the right date), that a Clan Buster pack might be released... with the King Crab...

If you mean the Clanbuster thing... IMO, it's less a rumor (unless there are other sources that bear mentioning) and more a hypothesis made by myself some time ago.

With the popularity of both the KGC and the BK, it seems unlikely that PGI would pass up such an opportunity...?

Reasons:
The New Assault Meta would be:
2 Guass Rifles + 1-2 PPCs for 45-55 pinpoint damage And you'd have a standard engine to spite people. Possibly add in LRMs for even worse things.
Or the new Meta would be:
4x UAC5 and 2 PPCs
Either way this would devestate game balance. There is a reason PGI has specifically avoided an assault mech with 2 ballstic slots in 2 locations.
The King Crab's mobility would mean it would constantly get left behind as you suggest, even my atlai keep up but what you suggest would need to move at 48 with speed tweak or even slower. There is no redeeming this slow speed on the battlefield.
So you would literally be a player who brought a turret that can devestate if it sees a target but otherwise is useless on conquest or if it has to leave the base on assault.

You forget the lowered arms. There could also be only 2 ballistic points, one in each arm (no different than many other builds).
I already see dual UAC5 and dual PPCs on VIctors and some phracts...
Also consider it's larger side and top profile. Missiles will be this mechs bane, even with some cover, especially if the missiles go for the center of the mech, which probably wouldn't be able to hug terrain close enough to block LRMs. Even SRMs will be a problem.
It's going to be slow. (It's a 100 tonner.)
I'd image that it would have reduced side to side motion, meaning that getting behind it could be a weakness.
May have hit boxes like a Stalker, so XL engines may be bad for the design. This will farther slow down the mech, or reduce the amount of weapons it can effectively take.
No jump. Not that I'm aware of.
No ECM. Not that I'm aware of.
(Basically, yes. It would be powerful in the right situations, but if done well, it might not be as overwhelming as people are thinking.)
Also, what would make this mech any different than the Mauler so many people are pushing for? At least 4 ballistics, 2 on each side torso... Could come up with the same builds you are saying would be bad with the King Crab...

Also, the Daishi will be able to do the whole dual-heavy-ballistics-arms thing, as well.
(It might even be able to mirror - nay, surpass - the Mauler's quad-torso-ballistic abilities if the Daishi B is one of the configurations implemented. )

No AC/20
Possibly no Guass Rifle
No UAC/10
You can fight AC/10, LBX-10/5/2, AC/5, uAC5, AC/2, and uAC2.
The banshee has more ballistic hammer than this.
Also if you put the big ballistic in the arms, you will lack a backup weapon for lasers as most of your laser slots are in the arms and will be consumed by the ballistic.
Further, it's top speed is 48.6, which means 53.4 with speed tweak and no ability to change the engine. Lights = Death.

We know so far that any hand actuators will be removed if an omni mech needs it to be removed for a larger weapon.
A lot of the arguments you are applying to the Dashi would apply to the King Crab as well, if not even more so. (Kind Crab has a very low profile by my account, so it's arms would be even lower than the Dashi.)
The Dashi I'm sure has variants with weapons in the torso you could change out, like missile hard points that could be exchanged for a SSRM6... with BAP...
If anything, the King Crab will have an even harder time (depending upon how much agility they give it) against lights, as it will only be able to get a SSRM2 or two.
Then again, what about the rumored Mauler that Alex has been working on? (In rumor... of course.) If that makes it into the game, it can do very much the same things that the King Crab could do. 4 Ballistics in the torso (2 in each side), as well as missile hard points in the torso (and I'm sure there would be some left over room for a SSRM system with an AC20 in there), as well as energy slots on the arms (unless I am gravely mistaken). We are already heading towards mechs that can preform these configurations. And once Clans and their omni mechs hit, we are likely to see some really crazy (and deadly too) configurations for them. Some of which might be even more deadly than what you are fearing from the King Crab...
Personally, I'd do with a Crab, but I do want a King Crab at some time. (Even though ballistics and I don't get along very well for some reason...)
