I've written seriously before, but this one was called, you know, the Jester. So... I went with that

There you go, Don Bennos, that's one build I think people will really like <_<

I run 2LL and 4ML (similar to your build) and average 500 dmg in a match; I even got it to 814 once. That was a crazy match. I can't say how much I love this mech! Six energy hardpoints, dual AMS, JJ and 96kph. DAMN! It's like I'm in a dream.

Looks good for Catapult fans. Too bad about the speed, as it makes the Dragon (even more) obsolete.

My Flame's shoulder mounted AC20 begs to differ :)

Ok, the mech is new and everybody loves it, but what i really love is the fact that there are more and more :o players out there which appearently have more money than "knowledge" :o about good mech loadouts and run these thing in the stock loadout ( :) can't believe it! Weri stronk smorl lesers!).

So what i wanna say is: :o Thanks for the new Heromech and all the funny moments which it brought us ! :o

This thing is awesome, 2 large + 4 mediums + xl350 + 2x ams = super fun time spectacular!

CyclonerM, assuming you're not just trolling, how long would you have to hold your cross hairs on a target to chain fire 3 LL? And in that time, how much damage would you take from an opponent with 2 uac5's? At he's concentrating damage in each shot and you're spreading it around with each bounce of your mech. And you are generating heat, he is not. Now imagine that's a Firebrand with 2 AC20's or an Illya with 3 UAC5's. How many lasers do you need to match either his alpha or his DPS, keeping in mind, you can only fire two at a time, and you will still have to worry about shutting down, they will not. It's not my opinion, it's math.

You don't need to chain fire them. You can divide them in two different groups, fire one, wait half a second, fire the second.
Even better.. You know the whole ghost heat goal is to directly nerf the boating. So you cannot boat 3 LLs or 6 PPCs and then cry because these builds run too hot.
It's true that some stock builds are affected by ghost heat and this is a unfortunate consequence of ghost heat.

Jester looks nice, and the story was colorful. I will probably buy one...BUT I have to express my displeasure over the choice of hardpoints. The catapult is first and foremost a missile mech. The K-2 (and related later variants) are a side-branch. It feels wrong that the hero mech chosen to represent the cats does not have even one missile hardpoint. I sincerely hope in the future that another hero catapult is created for those of us who are fans of the missile catapults.

Edit: Was there a reason the catapult hero was made WITHOUT missiles? It would be really nice to hear a well-reasoned explanation.

Actually, yes, here is an explanation: The C1 has 4 energy, 2 Missile hardpoints. The C4 has 4 missile, 2 energy hardpoints. The A1 has 6 Missile hardpoilnts. So you'd get either 3E/3M, or 5M/1E, or 5E/1M. Those are so close to what we already have. I went with all Energy (another dev who plays Catas actually suggested the idea) and basically combined the C1 and the K2, gave it jumpjets, then went with a large max engine. It makes it flexible, and most importantly - different. I did NOT want to make just an existing loadout with shifted hardpoints.

Let's say I went 3E/3M - how different would that REALLY be from the C1, or C4? The Jester is kinda like a C1, with no missiles, but also like a K2 with no ballistics, but JJ's, etc.

In the end it's a layout that didn't already exist, is fun, and unique ;)

A coral snake... Not king snake as you can see the red and yellow kill a fellow not red and black friend to jack.

Garth, are those itty bitty tiny PPC barrels on the K2/Jester arms get a revisit? they look kinda odd :P

the visual change to the arm-ppcs is the only thing i consider "imperfect" about the Jester's look
love the smile, but the eyes on the back scare me xD

With the anemic jump jets mechs are saddled with in MWO, a Cat with 4 jump jets would be hard pressed to climb the skyscrapers in the video, much less one with only 2. Bit of misleading advertising?
