From these fluff pieces it would seem the average Mechwarrior is 13 years old.

You can all thank TripMeUp for this, but I am now forcing Randall to make the average age of MechWarriors 13.

Ohh THAT explains why "most" of the pilots in those fluff blurbs have been female then :) ;P

I like the max engine rating (355) and the jump jets, but i am less enamoured with the toasty all energy loadout and the lamentable 95 degree torso twist.

I think PGI missed a trick by not making ButterBee, or a mech close to it ... although i like the junkyard cat idea, with parts and loatouts scrounged up from scrapped mechs.

Trouble is unless PGI breaks canon a bit more and remake it like something absolutely different the Butterbee will make the C1 and C4 extinct.

Only way to see the butterbee it's if PGI makes it a specific whole different textured mech.

Garth, in 2 years you will get your CDA-3F, and we will flee in terror off the battlefield. :)

The real question is "Does this catapult also share the giant cockpit that all the catapults share or has it been shrunk like we all wish"

Speaking of retreat, I would love it if there were a withdrawal, retreat, surrender option in the game. Of course, it's not necessary without a reason to actually do so, but it would still be nice.

Fluff for computer games tends to make war into a high school comedy. Battles are portrayed like a big football / hockey championship match.

"Sir, look at me kill this Highlander while doing a backflip!"
"Miss Voss, get back in line. And is that chewing gum I hear?"
"I'm having way too much fun, Mr. Commander! Weee, I just killed some infantry!"
"Miss Voss, you come back here this instant. And spit out your gum!"
"I'm sorry, Mr. Commander, but Joshua in Bravo lance asked if I could stay over at Epsilon and he's totally cute and everything!"
"Oh Miss Voss, go on then, you little rascal! Oh, to be young again..."

Woot! Thanks, Garth!!

Now, since I don't own any Catapults, I'm going to have to buy 2 others to get my masters done...get 'er done, I guess...:)

Can you imagine realistic depictions of war?

Hour 2387213 - we're still on this hill and won't move.

Also Mechs don't exist and are a foolish idea for military vehicles.

"Hey Baaaaats! Where are you! Batty? HahaHAHAHahaaaaa."
Seriously, all I can think of is cackling like the joker when I see this mech.
Damn you, Damn you all to Mech Hell. I had decided that the Phoenix pack was enough for me.
I'd convinced myself that Jester was just a new Camo.
But, Noooooo. You had to go and take my favourite mech chassis, and make a Hero out of it, didn't you. HaHAAAAhahahaaaaah.
Oh well. I suppose I shall just have to buy it, and murder people while laughing at them.....
Maybe 6 Flamers?

The hardpoints are extremely underwhelming, was rather excited about a hero Catapult mech but this is beyond mediocre. 2 Jump Jets and dual AMS on top of 6 useless energy slots? Come on...

While I have some sympathy towards desiring a more serious mil approach to the scene writing, we also must remember that in the feudal society of the Successor states, both House and merc militaries often contain personalities who are given a certain amount of eccentric liberty due to position and the fact that they are often voluntarily allowing the family heirloom and pilot to be used. Battletech lore (particularly the background stories of unique pilots presented in the original tech readouts) is full of these tales of unique characters, many of whom act outside of, shall we say, standard military decorum...

Nice job with the two new mechs guys
