They actually DID remove the option to bind a key to "Fire Selected Weapon Group" which is seriously infuriating me. As the guy you quoted said. Give us more options, don't take away something that is core to some people's game play. Unless someone can find if and where they've hidden it on the options menu. I'm even worse now than I was before. It would've been great had they defaulted it to Mouse1, a lot of people apparently play that way. But not letting you rebind to "Fire Selected Weapon Group" or even having a setting for it just seems idiotic.

Strange that they would remove the option instead of just changing the default.

Hopefully next patch will hotfix the option back in. Probably just a wierd glitch.

"Fire Selected Group" was already there. It worked. I'm not aware of their ever having been some kind of bug associated with it, let alone a current one. Even if only a single player used that bind (and it's clearly more than one, I among them), leaving the bind in-game entailed literally zero amount of work.

Instead, it is removed entirely, for no benefit to anyone whatsoever. Certainly no benefit beyond the simple default reassignment.

It boggles the mind. I can't even bring myself to facepalm over it. The change is so inexplicable and irrational that I literally cannot bring myself to facepalm, as doing so would create an unforgivable false equivalency between this change and every other outrageously stupid thing I have ever facepalmed over.

This is very true.


Judging by the text of the Patch Notes, it was removed deliberately. At, as stated, of literally zero benefit to anyone. Also as already stated. It entailed absolutely no work to leave it in there.

So, not sure if this has been covered because I'm not going to wade through 14 pages of QQ about having the seismic "easy button" removed...


But the removal of the "Fire Selected Weapon Group"... so um...

Why not remove the "Toggle Weapon Group Left(Right)" as well? Since you have now eliminated the need for weapon groups for people who use Joysticks.

Didn't think this one all the way through did you guys?

Does anyone know if this removing the key bind is in any way related to UI 2.0? Someone brought it to my attention that they were going to remove the scrolling through weapon groups option, which correlates with the setting of weapon groups before even dropping. I think this is ridiculous and stupid, because even when I drop, if I'm on a hotter or colder map than I made groups for, I like to change them on the fly. Just looking for a possible explanation, because the current lack of one is just making me more and more frustrated.

That's all well and good but obviously it isn't what happened, so despite being from Bryan it just ends up being yet another "that was our position at the time" empty promise.

Lots of people do, in fact I'd say anywhere from a quarter to maybe about 33% of people play the game that way. The fact still remains that removing it was pointless, of no use to anyone and only to the detriment of a fair number of people, and entailed absolutely no work to leave in.

On all of my mechs with more then 2 weapons I have a low heat profile weapons group bound to #6. It is a simple task to arrow key one left and keep firing until my heat drops.

Also sometimes if some of my weapons are destroyed I will rebind weapons to group 5 during matchs, and leave group 5 selected.

I can't do that anymore.

This is important enough for me to be mad about it. There is literally no reason in the world not to leave it in there. It was actually more work to remove it, then to leave it in. They wasted development time they could have used to add more new features into the game, on removing features I use.

Now they have to waste more time putting it back.

having had keyboard fails before, i can see they changed the key bind so if a noob hits the arrows they can still fire weapons on left mouse, instead of "why don't my weapons work"

PS. Who ever made this decision regardless of who they are needs to be shown the door.
